Quoting the Holy Qur’an:

“And to rehearse the Qur'an: and if any accept guidance, they do it for the good of their own souls, and if any stray, say: "I am only a Warner".
An-Naml, Chapter #27, Verse #92)

Juzu' 19

The nineteenth juz’ of the Qur’an starts from verse 21 of the 25th chapter (Al Furqan 25:21) and continues to verse 55 of the 27th chapter (An Naml 27:55).

The verses of this section were largely revealed in the middle of the Makkan period, as the Muslim community faced rejection and intimidation from the pagan population and leadership of Makkah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

۞ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَوْ نَرَىٰ رَبَّنَا ۗ لَقَدِ اسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَعَتَوْا عُتُوًّا كَبِيرًا

Transliteration

Waqala allatheena layarjoona liqaana lawla onzila AAalaynaalmala-ikatu aw nara rabbana laqadiistakbaroo fee anfusihim waAAataw AAutuwwan kabeera

Yusuf Ali

Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety!

25:21

يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا بُشْرَىٰ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيَقُولُونَ حِجْرًا مَحْجُورًا

Transliteration

Yawma yarawna almala-ikata labushra yawma-ithin lilmujrimeena wayaqooloona hijranmahjoora

Yusuf Ali

The Day they see the angels,- no joy will there be to the sinners that Day: The (angels) will say: "There is a barrier forbidden (to you) altogether!"

25:22

وَقَدِمْنَا إِلَىٰ مَا عَمِلُوا مِنْ عَمَلٍ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ هَبَاءً مَنْثُورًا

Transliteration

Waqadimna ila maAAamiloo min AAamalin fajaAAalnahu habaan manthoora

Yusuf Ali

And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about.

25:23

أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَيْرٌ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَأَحْسَنُ مَقِيلًا

Transliteration

As-habu aljannati yawma-ithinkhayrun mustaqarran waahsanu maqeela

Yusuf Ali

The Companions of the Garden will be well, that Day, in their abode, and have the fairest of places for repose.

25:24

وَيَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ السَّمَاءُ بِالْغَمَامِ وَنُزِّلَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَنْزِيلًا

Transliteration

Wayawma tashaqqaqu assamao bilghamamiwanuzzila almala-ikatu tanzeela

Yusuf Ali

The Day the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds, and angels shall be sent down, descending (in ranks),-

25:25

الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ ۚ وَكَانَ يَوْمًا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ عَسِيرًا

Transliteration

Almulku yawma-ithin alhaqqu lirrahmaniwakana yawman AAala alkafireena AAaseera

Yusuf Ali

That Day, the dominion as of right and truth, shall be (wholly) for (Allah) Most Merciful: it will be a Day of dire difficulty for the Misbelievers.

25:26

وَيَوْمَ يَعَضُّ الظَّالِمُ عَلَىٰ يَدَيْهِ يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي اتَّخَذْتُ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ سَبِيلًا

Transliteration

Wayawma yaAAaddu aththalimuAAala yadayhi yaqoolu ya laytanee ittakhathtumaAAa arrasooli sabeela

Yusuf Ali

The Day that the wrong-doer will bite at his hands, he will say, "Oh! would that I had taken a (straight) path with the Messenger!

25:27

يَا وَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًا

Transliteration

Ya waylata laytanee lamattakhith fulanan khaleela

Yusuf Ali

"Ah! woe is me! Would that I had never taken such a one for a friend!

25:28

لَقَدْ أَضَلَّنِي عَنِ الذِّكْرِ بَعْدَ إِذْ جَاءَنِي ۗ وَكَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ لِلْإِنْسَانِ خَذُولًا

Transliteration

Laqad adallanee AAani aththikribaAAda ith jaanee wakana ashshaytanulil-insani khathoola

Yusuf Ali

"He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Ah! the Evil One is but a traitor to man!"

25:29

وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي اتَّخَذُوا هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَهْجُورًا

Transliteration

Waqala arrasoolu yarabbi inna qawmee ittakhathoo hatha alqur-anamahjoora

Yusuf Ali

Then the Messenger will say: "O my Lord! Truly my people took this Qur'an for just foolish nonsense."

25:30

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا مِنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا

Transliteration

Wakathalika jaAAalna likullinabiyyin AAaduwwan mina almujrimeena wakafa birabbika hadiyanwanaseera

Yusuf Ali

Thus have We made for every prophet an enemy among the sinners: but enough is thy Lord to guide and to help.

25:31

وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ جُمْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنُثَبِّتَ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۖ وَرَتَّلْنَاهُ تَرْتِيلًا

Transliteration

Waqala allatheena kafaroo lawlanuzzila AAalayhi alqur-anu jumlatan wahidatan kathalikalinuthabbita bihi fu-adaka warattalnahu tarteela

Yusuf Ali

Those who reject Faith say: "Why is not the Qur'an revealed to him all at once? Thus (is it revealed), that We may strengthen thy heart thereby, and We have rehearsed it to thee in slow, well-arranged stages, gradually.

25:32

وَلَا يَأْتُونَكَ بِمَثَلٍ إِلَّا جِئْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَحْسَنَ تَفْسِيرًا

Transliteration

Wala ya/toonaka bimathalin illaji/naka bilhaqqi waahsana tafseera

Yusuf Ali

And no question do they bring to thee but We reveal to thee the truth and the best explanation (thereof).

25:33

الَّذِينَ يُحْشَرُونَ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ أُولَٰئِكَ شَرٌّ مَكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا

Transliteration

Allatheena yuhsharoona AAalawujoohihim ila jahannama ola-ika sharrun makananwaadallu sabeela

Yusuf Ali

Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces,- they will be in an evil plight, and, as to Path, most astray.

25:34

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَا مَعَهُ أَخَاهُ هَارُونَ وَزِيرًا

Transliteration

Walaqad atayna moosaalkitaba wajaAAalna maAAahu akhahu haroonawazeera

Yusuf Ali

(Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister;

25:35

فَقُلْنَا اذْهَبَا إِلَى الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا فَدَمَّرْنَاهُمْ تَدْمِيرًا

Transliteration

Faqulna ithhaba ilaalqawmi allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafadammarnahum tadmeera

Yusuf Ali

And We command: "Go ye both, to the people who have rejected our Signs:" And those (people) We destroyed with utter destruction.

25:36

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ لَمَّا كَذَّبُوا الرُّسُلَ أَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ آيَةً ۖ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

Transliteration

Waqawma noohin lamma kaththabooarrusula aghraqnahum wajaAAalnahum linnasiayatan waaAAtadna liththalimeenaAAathaban aleema

Yusuf Ali

And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;-

25:37

وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَ وَأَصْحَابَ الرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًا

Transliteration

WaAAadan wathamooda waas-habaarrassi waquroonan bayna thalika katheera

Yusuf Ali

As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them.

25:38

وَكُلًّا ضَرَبْنَا لَهُ الْأَمْثَالَ ۖ وَكُلًّا تَبَّرْنَا تَتْبِيرًا

Transliteration

Wakullan darabna lahu al-amthalawakullan tabbarna tatbeera

Yusuf Ali

To each one We set forth Parables and examples; and each one We broke to utter annihilation (for their sins).

25:39

وَلَقَدْ أَتَوْا عَلَى الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي أُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ السَّوْءِ ۚ أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ بَلْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ نُشُورًا

Transliteration

Walaqad ataw AAala alqaryati allateeomtirat matara assaw-i afalam yakoonooyarawnaha bal kanoo la yarjoona nushoora

Yusuf Ali

And the (Unbelievers) must indeed have passed by the town on which was rained a shower of evil: did they not then see it (with their own eyes)? But they fear not the Resurrection.

25:40

وَإِذَا رَأَوْكَ إِنْ يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَٰذَا الَّذِي بَعَثَ اللَّهُ رَسُولًا

Transliteration

Wa-itha raawka in yattakhithoonakailla huzuwan ahatha allathee baAAatha Allahurasoola

Yusuf Ali

When they see thee, they treat thee no otherwise than in mockery: "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger?"

25:41

إِنْ كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنْ آلِهَتِنَا لَوْلَا أَنْ صَبَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوْنَ الْعَذَابَ مَنْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا

Transliteration

In kada layudillunaAAan alihatina lawla an sabarnaAAalayha wasawfa yaAAlamoona heena yarawna alAAathabaman adallu sabeela

Yusuf Ali

"He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path!

25:42

أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ أَفَأَنْتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلًا

Transliteration

Araayta mani ittakhatha ilahahuhawahu afaanta takoonu AAalayhi wakeela

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him?

25:43

أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا كَالْأَنْعَامِ ۖ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا

Transliteration

Am tahsabu anna aktharahumyasmaAAoona aw yaAAqiloona in hum illa kal-anAAamibal hum adallu sabeela

Yusuf Ali

Or thinkest thou that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle;- nay, they are worse astray in Path.

25:44

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَيْفَ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ وَلَوْ شَاءَ لَجَعَلَهُ سَاكِنًا ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيلًا

Transliteration

Alam tara ila rabbika kayfa madda aththillawalaw shaa lajaAAalahu sakinan thumma jaAAalnaashshamsa AAalayhi daleela

Yusuf Ali

Hast thou not turned thy vision to thy Lord?- How He doth prolong the shadow! If He willed, He could make it stationary! then do We make the sun its guide;

25:45

ثُمَّ قَبَضْنَاهُ إِلَيْنَا قَبْضًا يَسِيرًا

Transliteration

Thumma qabadnahu ilaynaqabdan yaseera

Yusuf Ali

Then We draw it in towards Ourselves,- a contraction by easy stages.

25:46

وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا وَالنَّوْمَ سُبَاتًا وَجَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُورًا

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee jaAAala lakumuallayla libasan wannawma subatan wajaAAalaannahara nushoora

Yusuf Ali

And He it is Who makes the Night as a Robe for you, and Sleep as Repose, and makes the Day (as it were) a Resurrection.

25:47

وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً طَهُورًا

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee arsala arriyahabushran bayna yaday rahmatihi waanzalna mina assama-imaan tahoora

Yusuf Ali

And He it is Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His mercy, and We send down pure water from the sky,-

25:48

لِنُحْيِيَ بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتًا وَنُسْقِيَهُ مِمَّا خَلَقْنَا أَنْعَامًا وَأَنَاسِيَّ كَثِيرًا

Transliteration

Linuhyiya bihi baldatan maytanwanusqiyahu mimma khalaqna anAAaman waanasiyyakatheera

Yusuf Ali

That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers.

25:49

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَاهُ بَيْنَهُمْ لِيَذَّكَّرُوا فَأَبَىٰ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُورًا

Transliteration

Walaqad sarrafnahu baynahumliyaththakkaroo faaba aktharu annasiilla kufoora

Yusuf Ali

And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude.

25:50

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَبَعَثْنَا فِي كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ نَذِيرًا

Transliteration

Walaw shi/na labaAAathna feekulli qaryatin natheera

Yusuf Ali

Had it been Our Will, We could have sent a warner to every centre of population.

25:51

فَلَا تُطِعِ الْكَافِرِينَ وَجَاهِدْهُمْ بِهِ جِهَادًا كَبِيرًا

Transliteration

Fala tutiAAi alkafireenawajahidhum bihi jihadan kabeera

Yusuf Ali

Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an).

25:52

۞ وَهُوَ الَّذِي مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ هَٰذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ وَهَٰذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخًا وَحِجْرًا مَحْجُورًا

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee maraja albahraynihatha AAathbun furatun wahatha milhunojajun wajaAAala baynahuma barzakhan wahijranmahjoora

Yusuf Ali

It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: One palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet has He made a barrier between them, a partition that is forbidden to be passed.

25:53

وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ بَشَرًا فَجَعَلَهُ نَسَبًا وَصِهْرًا ۗ وَكَانَ رَبُّكَ قَدِيرًا

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee khalaqa mina alma-ibasharan fajaAAalahu nasaban wasihran wakanarabbuka qadeera

Yusuf Ali

It is He Who has created man from water: then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things).

25:54

وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنْفَعُهُمْ وَلَا يَضُرُّهُمْ ۗ وَكَانَ الْكَافِرُ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِ ظَهِيرًا

Transliteration

WayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi mala yanfaAAuhum wala yadurruhum wakanaalkafiru AAala rabbihi thaheera

Yusuf Ali

Yet do they worship, besides Allah, things that can neither profit them nor harm them: and the Misbeliever is a helper (of Evil), against his own Lord!

25:55

وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا

Transliteration

Wama arsalnaka illamubashshiran wanatheera

Yusuf Ali

But thee We only sent to give glad tidings and admonition.

25:56

قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِلَّا مَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا

Transliteration

Qul ma as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrinilla man shaa an yattakhitha ilarabbihi sabeela

Yusuf Ali

Say: "No reward do I ask of you for it but this: that each one who will may take a (straight) Path to his Lord."

25:57

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِهِ ۚ وَكَفَىٰ بِهِ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِ خَبِيرًا

Transliteration

Watawakkal AAala alhayyi allatheela yamootu wasabbih bihamdihi wakafabihi bithunoobi AAibadihi khabeera

Yusuf Ali

And put thy trust in Him Who lives and dies not; and celebrate his praise; and enough is He to be acquainted with the faults of His servants;-

25:58

الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ الرَّحْمَٰنُ فَاسْأَلْ بِهِ خَبِيرًا

Transliteration

Allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma fee sittatiayyamin thumma istawa AAala alAAarshi arrahmanufas-al bihi khabeera

Yusuf Ali

He Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between, in six days, and is firmly established on the Throne (of Authority): Allah Most Gracious: ask thou, then, about Him of any acquainted (with such things).

25:59

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْجُدُوا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ قَالُوا وَمَا الرَّحْمَٰنُ أَنَسْجُدُ لِمَا تَأْمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمْ نُفُورًا

Transliteration

Wa-itha qeela lahumu osjudoo lirrahmaniqaloo wama arrahmanu anasjudulima ta/muruna wazadahum nufoora

Yusuf Ali

When it is said to them, "Prostrate to (Allah) Most Gracious!", they say, "And what is (Allah) Most Gracious? Shall we prostrate to that which thou commandest us?" And it increases their flight (from the Truth).

25:60

تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَاجًا وَقَمَرًا مُنِيرًا

Transliteration

Tabaraka allathee jaAAala feeassama-i buroojan wajaAAala feeha sirajanwaqamaran muneera

Yusuf Ali

Blessed is He Who made constellations in the skies, and placed therein a Lamp and a Moon giving light;

25:61

وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee jaAAala allayla wannaharakhilfatan liman arada an yaththakkara aw aradashukoora

Yusuf Ali

And it is He Who made the Night and the Day to follow each other: for such as have the will to celebrate His praises or to show their gratitude.

25:62

وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلَامًا

Transliteration

WaAAibadu arrahmaniallatheena yamshoona AAala al-ardi hawnanwa-itha khatabahumu aljahiloona qaloosalama

Yusuf Ali

And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";

25:63

وَالَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَقِيَامًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena yabeetoonalirabbihim sujjadan waqiyama

Yusuf Ali

Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing;

25:64

وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اصْرِفْ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena yaqooloona rabbanaisrif AAanna AAathaba jahannama inna AAathabahakana gharama

Yusuf Ali

Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,-

25:65

إِنَّهَا سَاءَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا

Transliteration

Innaha saat mustaqarran wamuqama

Yusuf Ali

"Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in";

25:66

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَنْفَقُوا لَمْ يُسْرِفُوا وَلَمْ يَقْتُرُوا وَكَانَ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ قَوَامًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena ithaanfaqoo lam yusrifoo walam yaqturoo wakana bayna thalikaqawama

Yusuf Ali

Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);

25:67

وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ ۚ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَامًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena layadAAoona maAAa Allahi ilahan akharawala yaqtuloona annafsa allatee harrama Allahuilla bilhaqqi wala yaznoona wamanyafAAal thalika yalqa athama

Yusuf Ali

Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.

25:68

يُضَاعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِ مُهَانًا

Transliteration

YudaAAaf lahu alAAathabu yawmaalqiyamati wayakhlud feehi muhana

Yusuf Ali

(But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy,-

25:69

إِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَأُولَٰئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا

Transliteration

Illa man taba waamanawaAAamila AAamalan salihan faola-ikayubaddilu Allahu sayyi-atihim hasanatinwakana Allahu ghafooran raheema

Yusuf Ali

Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,

25:70

وَمَنْ تَابَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَإِنَّهُ يَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَتَابًا

Transliteration

Waman taba waAAamila salihanfa-innahu yatoobu ila Allahi mataba

Yusuf Ali

And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion;-

25:71

وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَامًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena layashhadoona azzoora wa-itha marroo billaghwimarroo kirama

Yusuf Ali

Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honourable (avoidance);

25:72

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena itha thukkiroobi-ayati rabbihim lam yakhirroo AAalayha summanwaAAumyana

Yusuf Ali

Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind;

25:73

وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Transliteration

Wallatheena yaqooloona rabbanahab lana min azwajina wathurriyyatinaqurrata aAAyunin wajAAalna lilmuttaqeena imama

Yusuf Ali

And those who pray, "Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous."

25:74

أُولَٰئِكَ يُجْزَوْنَ الْغُرْفَةَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا وَيُلَقَّوْنَ فِيهَا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلَامًا

Transliteration

Ola-ika yujzawna alghurfata bimasabaroo wayulaqqawna feeha tahiyyatan wasalama

Yusuf Ali

Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy: therein shall they be met with salutations and peace,

25:75

خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ حَسُنَتْ مُسْتَقَرًّا وَمُقَامًا

Transliteration

Khalideena feeha hasunatmustaqarran wamuqama

Yusuf Ali

Dwelling therein;- how beautiful an abode and place of rest!

25:76

قُلْ مَا يَعْبَأُ بِكُمْ رَبِّي لَوْلَا دُعَاؤُكُمْ ۖ فَقَدْ كَذَّبْتُمْ فَسَوْفَ يَكُونُ لِزَامًا

Transliteration

Qul ma yaAAbao bikum rabbee lawladuAAaokum faqad kaththabtum fasawfa yakoonu lizama

Yusuf Ali

Say (to the Rejecters): "My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!"

25:77

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

طسم

Transliteration

Ta-seen-meem

Yusuf Ali

Ta. Sin. Mim.

26:1

تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

Transliteration

Tilka ayatu alkitabialmubeen

Yusuf Ali

These are verses of the Book that makes (things) clear.

26:2

لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka allayakoonoo mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.

26:3

إِنْ نَشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ

Transliteration

In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina assama-iayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum lahakhadiAAeen

Yusuf Ali

If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.

26:4

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ ذِكْرٍ مِنَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ

Transliteration

Wama ya/teehim min thikrin minaarrahmani muhdathin illa kanooAAanhu muAArideen

Yusuf Ali

But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom.

26:5

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنْبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

Transliteration

Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbaoma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oon

Yusuf Ali

They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at!

26:6

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ

Transliteration

Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kamanbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareem

Yusuf Ali

Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein?

26:7

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:8

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:9

وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-ith nada rabbukamoosa ani i/ti alqawma aththalimeen

Yusuf Ali

Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,-

26:10

قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Qawma firAAawna ala yattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

"The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?"

26:11

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُكَذِّبُونِ

Transliteration

Qala rabbi innee akhafu anyukaththiboon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "O my Lord! I do fear that they will charge me with falsehood:

26:12

وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنْطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ

Transliteration

Wayadeequ sadree walayantaliqu lisanee faarsil ila haroon

Yusuf Ali

"My breast will be straitened. And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron.

26:13

وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَقْتُلُونِ

Transliteration

Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafuan yaqtuloon

Yusuf Ali

"And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me."

26:14

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ مُسْتَمِعُونَ

Transliteration

Qala kalla fathhababi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call).

26:15

فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Fa/tiya firAAawna faqoola innarasoolu rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"So go forth, both of you, to Pharaoh, and say: 'We have been sent by the Lord and Cherisher of the worlds;

26:16

أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

Transliteration

An arsil maAAana banee isra-eel

Yusuf Ali

"'Send thou with us the Children of Israel.'"

26:17

قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ

Transliteration

Qala alam nurabbika feenawaleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineen

Yusuf Ali

(Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life?

26:18

وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنْتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ

Transliteration

WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAaltawaanta mina alkafireen

Yusuf Ali

"And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!"

26:19

قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ

Transliteration

Qala faAAaltuha ithanwaana mina addalleen

Yusuf Ali

Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error.

26:20

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنْكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Transliteration

Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukumfawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleen

Yusuf Ali

"So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers.

26:21

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

Transliteration

Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayyaan AAabbadta banee isra-eel

Yusuf Ali

"And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!"

26:22

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?"

26:23

قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ

Transliteration

Qala rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntummooqineen

Yusuf Ali

(Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure."

26:24

قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ

Transliteration

Qala liman hawlahu alatastamiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

(Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?"

26:25

قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumual-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

(Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!"

26:26

قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ

Transliteration

Qala inna rasoolakumu allatheeorsila ilaykum lamajnoon

Yusuf Ali

(Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!"

26:27

قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

Transliteration

Qala rabbu almashriqi walmaghribiwama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloon

Yusuf Ali

(Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!"

26:28

قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ

Transliteration

Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahanghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneen

Yusuf Ali

(Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!"

26:29

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeen

Yusuf Ali

(Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?"

26:30

قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

Transliteration

Qala fa/ti bihi in kunta mina assadiqeen

Yusuf Ali

(Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!"

26:31

فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Faalqa AAasahu fa-ithahiya thuAAbanun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)!

26:32

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ

Transliteration

WanazaAAa yadahu fa-itha hiya baydaolinnathireen

Yusuf Ali

And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders!

26:33

قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Qala lilmala-i hawlahu inna hathalasahirun AAaleem

Yusuf Ali

(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed:

26:34

يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُمْ بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ

Transliteration

Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikumbisihrihi famatha ta/muroon

Yusuf Ali

"His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?"

26:35

قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo arjih waakhahu wabAAathfee almada-ini hashireen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while), and dispatch to the Cities heralds to collect-

26:36

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

Ya/tooka bikulli sahharin AAaleem

Yusuf Ali

"And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed."

26:37

فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ

Transliteration

FajumiAAa assaharatu limeeqatiyawmin maAAloom

Yusuf Ali

So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known,

26:38

وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُجْتَمِعُونَ

Transliteration

Waqeela linnasi hal antummujtamiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?-

26:39

لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِنْ كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ

Transliteration

LaAAallana nattabiAAu assaharatain kanoo humu alghalibeen

Yusuf Ali

"That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?"

26:40

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ

Transliteration

Falamma jaa assaharatuqaloo lifirAAawna a-inna lana laajran in kunnanahnu alghalibeen

Yusuf Ali

So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win?

26:41

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

Transliteration

Qala naAAam wa-innakum ithanlamina almuqarrabeen

Yusuf Ali

He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)."

26:42

قَالَ لَهُمْ مُوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ مُلْقُونَ

Transliteration

Qala lahum moosa alqoo maantum mulqoon

Yusuf Ali

Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!"

26:43

فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ

Transliteration

Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahumwaqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnualghaliboon

Yusuf Ali

So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!"

26:44

فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ

Transliteration

Faalqa moosa AAasahufa-itha hiya talqafu ma ya/fikoon

Yusuf Ali

Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake!

26:45

فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ

Transliteration

Faolqiya assaharatu sajideen

Yusuf Ali

Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration,

26:46

قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo amanna birabbialAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,

26:47

رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ

Transliteration

Rabbi moosa waharoon

Yusuf Ali

"The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

26:48

قَالَ آمَنْتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Transliteration

Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu assihrafalasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakummin khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeen

Yusuf Ali

Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!"

26:49

قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

Qaloo la dayra innaila rabbina munqaliboon

Yusuf Ali

They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord!

26:50

إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَنْ كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lanarabbuna khatayana an kunnaawwala almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

"Only, our desire is that our Lord will forgive us our faults, that we may become foremost among the believers!"

26:51

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ

Transliteration

Waawhayna ila moosaan asri biAAibadee innakum muttabaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

By inspiration we told Moses: "Travel by night with my servants; for surely ye shall be pursued."

26:52

فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ

Transliteration

Faarsala firAAawnu fee almada-ini hashireen

Yusuf Ali

Then Pharaoh sent heralds to (all) the Cities,

26:53

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ

Transliteration

Inna haola-i lashirthimatunqaleeloon

Yusuf Ali

(Saying): "These (Israelites) are but a small band,

26:54

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-innahum lana lagha-ithoon

Yusuf Ali

"And they are raging furiously against us;

26:55

وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-inna lajameeAAun hathiroon

Yusuf Ali

"But we are a multitude amply fore-warned."

26:56

فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُمْ مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Transliteration

Faakhrajnahum min jannatinwaAAuyoon

Yusuf Ali

So We expelled them from gardens, springs,

26:57

وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wakunoozin wamaqamin kareem

Yusuf Ali

Treasures, and every kind of honourable position;

26:58

كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

Transliteration

Kathalika waawrathnahabanee isra-eel

Yusuf Ali

Thus it was, but We made the Children of Israel inheritors of such things.

26:59

فَأَتْبَعُوهُمْ مُشْرِقِينَ

Transliteration

FaatbaAAoohum mushriqeen

Yusuf Ali

So they pursued them at sunrise.

26:60

فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ

Transliteration

Falamma taraa aljamAAaniqala as-habu moosa innalamudrakoon

Yusuf Ali

And when the two bodies saw each other, the people of Moses said: "We are sure to be overtaken."

26:61

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ

Transliteration

Qala kalla inna maAAiya rabbeesayahdeen

Yusuf Ali

(Moses) said: "By no means! my Lord is with me! Soon will He guide me!"

26:62

فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِبْ بِعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانْفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Faawhayna ila moosaani idrib biAAasaka albahra fanfalaqafakana kullu firqin kattawdi alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

Then We told Moses by inspiration: "Strike the sea with thy rod." So it divided, and each separate part became like the huge, firm mass of a mountain.

26:63

وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ

Transliteration

Waazlafna thamma al-akhareen

Yusuf Ali

And We made the other party approach thither.

26:64

وَأَنْجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ

Transliteration

Waanjayna moosa waman maAAahuajmaAAeen

Yusuf Ali

We delivered Moses and all who were with him;

26:65

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

Transliteration

Thumma aghraqna al-akhareen

Yusuf Ali

But We drowned the others.

26:66

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:67

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:68

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

Transliteration

Watlu AAalayhim nabaa ibraheem

Yusuf Ali

And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story.

26:69

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala li-abeehi waqawmihi mataAAbudoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?"

26:70

قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo naAAbudu asnamanfanathallu laha AAakifeen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them."

26:71

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ

Transliteration

Qala hal yasmaAAoonakum ithtadAAoon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?"

26:72

أَوْ يَنْفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ

Transliteration

Aw yanfaAAoonakum aw yadurroon

Yusuf Ali

"Or do you good or harm?"

26:73

قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ

Transliteration

Qaloo bal wajadna abaanakathalika yafAAaloon

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)."

26:74

قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

Transliteration

Qala afaraaytum ma kuntumtaAAbudoon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,-

26:75

أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ

Transliteration

Antum waabaokumu al-aqdamoon

Yusuf Ali

"Ye and your fathers before you?-

26:76

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Fa-innahum AAaduwwun lee illa rabbaalAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds;

26:77

الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ

Transliteration

Allathee khalaqanee fahuwa yahdeen

Yusuf Ali

"Who created me, and it is He Who guides me;

26:78

وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ

Transliteration

Wallathee huwa yutAAimuneewayasqeen

Yusuf Ali

"Who gives me food and drink,

26:79

وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ

Transliteration

Wa-itha maridtu fahuwayashfeen

Yusuf Ali

"And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me;

26:80

وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ

Transliteration

Wallathee yumeetunee thummayuhyeen

Yusuf Ali

"Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again);

26:81

وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

Transliteration

Wallathee atmaAAu anyaghfira lee khatee-atee yawma addeen

Yusuf Ali

"And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment.

26:82

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbi hab lee hukman waalhiqneebissaliheen

Yusuf Ali

"O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;

26:83

وَاجْعَلْ لِي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

Transliteration

WajAAal lee lisana sidqinfee al-akhireen

Yusuf Ali

"Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations);

26:84

وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنْ وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ

Transliteration

WajAAalnee min warathati jannati annaAAeem

Yusuf Ali

"Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss;

26:85

وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ

Transliteration

Waghfir li-abee innahu kanamina addalleen

Yusuf Ali

"Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray;

26:86

وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ

Transliteration

Wala tukhzinee yawma yubAAathoon

Yusuf Ali

"And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;-

26:87

يَوْمَ لَا يَنْفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ

Transliteration

Yawma la yanfaAAu malun walabanoon

Yusuf Ali

"The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail,

26:88

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

Illa man ata Allahabiqalbin saleem

Yusuf Ali

"But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart;

26:89

وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration

Waozlifati aljannatu lilmuttaqeen

Yusuf Ali

"To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near,

26:90

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ

Transliteration

Waburrizati aljaheemu lilghaween

Yusuf Ali

"And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view;

26:91

وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

Transliteration

Waqeela lahum ayna ma kuntumtaAAbudoon

Yusuf Ali

"And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped-

26:92

مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنْصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنْتَصِرُونَ

Transliteration

Min dooni Allahi hal yansuroonakumaw yantasiroon

Yusuf Ali

"'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?'

26:93

فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ

Transliteration

Fakubkiboo feeha hum walghawoon

Yusuf Ali

"Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil,

26:94

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ

Transliteration

Wajunoodu ibleesa ajmaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"And the whole hosts of Iblis together.

26:95

قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ

Transliteration

Qaloo wahum feeha yakhtasimoon

Yusuf Ali

"They will say there in their mutual bickerings:

26:96

تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Tallahi in kunna lafeedalalin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

"'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest,

26:97

إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Ith nusawweekum birabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds;

26:98

وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

Transliteration

Wama adallana illaalmujrimoon

Yusuf Ali

"'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt.

26:99

فَمَا لَنَا مِنْ شَافِعِينَ

Transliteration

Fama lana min shafiAAeen

Yusuf Ali

"'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us),

26:100

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wala sadeeqin hameem

Yusuf Ali

"'Nor a single friend to feel (for us).

26:101

فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Falaw anna lana karratan fanakoonamina almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

"'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'"

26:102

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe.

26:103

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:104

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Transliteration

Kaththabat qawmu noohinalmursaleen

Yusuf Ali

The people of Noah rejected the messengers.

26:105

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala lahum akhoohum noohunala tattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold, their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

26:106

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

Yusuf Ali

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:

26:107

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"So fear Allah, and obey me.

26:108

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds:

26:109

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"So fear Allah, and obey me."

26:110

۞ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ

Transliteration

Qaloo anu/minu laka wattabaAAakaal-arthaloon

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?"

26:111

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Qala wama AAilmee bimakanoo yaAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "And what do I know as to what they do?

26:112

إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ

Transliteration

In hisabuhum illa AAalarabbee law tashAAuroon

Yusuf Ali

"Their account is only with my Lord, if ye could (but) understand.

26:113

وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Wama ana bitaridialmu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

"I am not one to drive away those who believe.

26:114

إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

In ana illa natheerunmubeen

Yusuf Ali

"I am sent only to warn plainly in public."

26:115

قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo la-in lam tantahi yanoohu latakoonanna mina almarjoomeen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)."

26:116

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ

Transliteration

Qala rabbi inna qawmee kaththaboon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "O my Lord! truly my people have rejected me.

26:117

فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَنْ مَعِيَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Faftah baynee wabaynahum fathanwanajjinee waman maAAiya mina almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

"Judge Thou, then, between me and them openly, and deliver me and those of the Believers who are with me."

26:118

فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

Transliteration

Faanjaynahu waman maAAahu feealfulki almashhoon

Yusuf Ali

So We delivered him and those with him, in the Ark filled (with all creatures).

26:119

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ

Transliteration

Thumma aghraqna baAAdu albaqeen

Yusuf Ali

Thereafter We drowned those who remained behind.

26:120

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:121

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:122

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Transliteration

Kaththabat AAadun almursaleen

Yusuf Ali

The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers.

26:123

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala lahum akhoohumhoodun ala tattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

26:124

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

Yusuf Ali

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust:

26:125

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"So fear Allah and obey me.

26:126

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

26:127

أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ

Transliteration

Atabnoona bikulli reeAAin ayatantaAAbathoon

Yusuf Ali

"Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves?

26:128

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ

Transliteration

Watattakhithoona masaniAAalaAAallakum takhludoon

Yusuf Ali

"And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)?

26:129

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha batashtum batashtumjabbareen

Yusuf Ali

"And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power?

26:130

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"Now fear Allah, and obey me.

26:131

وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُمْ بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Wattaqoo allathee amaddakumbima taAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

"Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know.

26:132

أَمَدَّكُمْ بِأَنْعَامٍ وَبَنِينَ

Transliteration

Amaddakum bi-anAAamin wabaneen

Yusuf Ali

"Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,-

26:133

وَجَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Transliteration

Wajannatin waAAuyoon

Yusuf Ali

"And Gardens and Springs.

26:134

إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Transliteration

Innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathabayawmin AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

"Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day."

26:135

قَالُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُنْ مِنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo sawaon AAalaynaawaAAathta am lam takun mina alwaAAitheen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers!

26:136

إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

In hatha illa khuluqual-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

"This is no other than a customary device of the ancients,

26:137

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

Transliteration

Wama nahnu bimuAAaththabeen

Yusuf Ali

"And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!"

26:138

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Fakaththaboohu faahlaknahuminna fee thalika laayatan wama kanaaktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:139

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:140

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Transliteration

Kaththabat thamoodu almursaleen

Yusuf Ali

The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers.

26:141

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَالِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala lahum akhoohum salihunala tattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)?

26:142

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

Yusuf Ali

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

26:143

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"So fear Allah, and obey me.

26:144

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

26:145

أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Atutrakoona fee ma hahunaamineen

Yusuf Ali

"Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here?-

26:146

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Transliteration

Fee jannatin waAAuyoon

Yusuf Ali

"Gardens and Springs,

26:147

وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ

Transliteration

WazurooAAin wanakhlin talAAuhahadeem

Yusuf Ali

"And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)?

26:148

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ

Transliteration

Watanhitoona mina aljibalibuyootan fariheen

Yusuf Ali

"And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill.

26:149

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"But fear Allah and obey me;

26:150

وَلَا تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

Transliteration

Wala tuteeAAoo amraalmusrifeen

Yusuf Ali

"And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,-

26:151

الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ

Transliteration

Allatheena yufsidoona fee al-ardiwala yuslihoon

Yusuf Ali

"Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)."

26:152

قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

26:153

مَا أَنْتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

Transliteration

Ma anta illa basharun mithlunafa/ti bi-ayatin in kunta mina assadiqeena

Yusuf Ali

"Thou art no more than a mortal like us: then bring us a Sign, if thou tellest the truth!"

26:154

قَالَ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ

Transliteration

Qala hathihi naqatunlaha shirbun walakum shirbu yawmin maAAloom

Yusuf Ali

He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed.

26:155

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wala tamassooha bisoo-infaya/khuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

"Touch her not with harm, lest the Penalty of a Great Day seize you."

26:156

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِينَ

Transliteration

FaAAaqarooha faasbahoonadimeen

Yusuf Ali

But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets.

26:157

فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Faakhathahumu alAAathabu innafee thalika laayatan wama kanaaktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:158

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:159

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Transliteration

Kaththabat qawmu lootinalmursaleen

Yusuf Ali

The people of Lut rejected the messengers.

26:160

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala lahum akhoohum lootunala tattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold, their brother Lut said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

26:161

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

Yusuf Ali

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

26:162

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"So fear Allah and obey me.

26:163

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds.

26:164

أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Ata/toona aththukranamina alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males,

26:165

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ

Transliteration

Watatharoona ma khalaqa lakumrabbukum min azwajikum bal antum qawmun AAadoon

Yusuf Ali

"And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!"

26:166

قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo la-in lam tantahi yalootu latakoonanna mina almukhrajeen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out!"

26:167

قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُمْ مِنَ الْقَالِينَ

Transliteration

Qala innee liAAamalikum mina alqaleen

Yusuf Ali

He said: "I do detest your doings."

26:168

رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Rabbi najjinee waahlee mimmayaAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

"O my Lord! deliver me and my family from such things as they do!"

26:169

فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ

Transliteration

Fanajjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeen

Yusuf Ali

So We delivered him and his family,- all

26:170

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ

Transliteration

Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireen

Yusuf Ali

Except an old woman who lingered behind.

26:171

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

Transliteration

Thumma dammarna al-akhareen

Yusuf Ali

But the rest We destroyed utterly.

26:172

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَطَرًا ۖ فَسَاءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ

Transliteration

Waamtarna AAalayhim mataranfasaa mataru almunthareen

Yusuf Ali

We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)!

26:173

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:174

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful.

26:175

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

Transliteration

Kaththaba as-habual-aykati almursaleen

Yusuf Ali

The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers.

26:176

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala lahum shuAAaybun alatattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?

26:177

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

Yusuf Ali

"I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust.

26:178

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Fattaqoo Allaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"So fear Allah and obey me.

26:179

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrin inajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

"No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.

26:180

۞ أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ

Transliteration

Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo minaalmukhsireen

Yusuf Ali

"Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud).

26:181

وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ

Transliteration

Wazinoo bilqistasialmustaqeem

Yusuf Ali

"And weigh with scales true and upright.

26:182

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

Transliteration

Wala tabkhasoo annasaashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee al-ardimufsideen

Yusuf Ali

"And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief.

26:183

وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Wattaqoo allathee khalaqakumwaljibillata al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

"And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)"

26:184

قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Thou art only one of those bewitched!

26:185

وَمَا أَنْتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَإِنْ نَظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

Transliteration

Wama anta illa basharunmithluna wa-in nathunnuka lamina alkathibeen

Yusuf Ali

"Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar!

26:186

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

Transliteration

Faasqit AAalayna kisafan minaassama-i in kunta mina assadiqeen

Yusuf Ali

"Now cause a piece of the sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful!"

26:187

قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Qala rabbee aAAlamu bimataAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do."

26:188

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Transliteration

Fakaththaboohu faakhathahumAAathabu yawmi aththullati innahu kanaAAathaba yawmin AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day.

26:189

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe.

26:190

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

26:191

وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنْزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds:

26:192

نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ

Transliteration

Nazala bihi arroohu al-ameen

Yusuf Ali

With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth-

26:193

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنْذِرِينَ

Transliteration

AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireen

Yusuf Ali

To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish.

26:194

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

In the perspicuous Arabic tongue.

26:195

وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu lafee zuburi al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples.

26:196

أَوَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ آيَةً أَنْ يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

Transliteration

Awa lam yakun lahum ayatan anyaAAlamahu AAulamao banee isra-eel

Yusuf Ali

Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?

26:197

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ

Transliteration

Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdial-aAAjameen

Yusuf Ali

Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs,

26:198

فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoobihi mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it.

26:199

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَاهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

Transliteration

Kathalika salaknahu feequloobi almujrimeen

Yusuf Ali

Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners.

26:200

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ

Transliteration

La yu/minoona bihi hattayarawoo alAAathaba al-aleem

Yusuf Ali

They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty;

26:201

فَيَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Transliteration

Faya/tiyahum baghtatan wahum layashAAuroon

Yusuf Ali

But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not;

26:202

فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنْظَرُونَ

Transliteration

Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoon

Yusuf Ali

Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?"

26:203

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

Transliteration

AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloon

Yusuf Ali

Do they then ask for Our Penalty to be hastened on?

26:204

أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ مَتَّعْنَاهُمْ سِنِينَ

Transliteration

Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineen

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years,

26:205

ثُمَّ جَاءَهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma jaahum ma kanooyooAAadoon

Yusuf Ali

Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised!

26:206

مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يُمَتَّعُونَ

Transliteration

Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanooyumattaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)!

26:207

وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنْذِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illalaha munthiroon

Yusuf Ali

Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners -

26:208

ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ

Transliteration

Thikra wama kunnathalimeen

Yusuf Ali

By way of reminder; and We never are unjust.

26:209

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ

Transliteration

Wama tanazzalat bihi ashshayateen

Yusuf Ali

No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation):

26:210

وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

Transliteration

Wama yanbaghee lahum wamayastateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it).

26:211

إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ

Transliteration

Innahum AAani assamAAilamaAAzooloona

Yusuf Ali

Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it.

26:212

فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ

Transliteration

Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeen

Yusuf Ali

So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty.

26:213

وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ

Transliteration

Waanthir AAasheerataka al-aqrabeen

Yusuf Ali

And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,

26:214

وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Wakhfid janahakalimani ittabaAAaka mina almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee.

26:215

فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Fa-in AAasawka faqul innee baree-onmimma taAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!"

26:216

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi arraheem

Yusuf Ali

And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,-

26:217

الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

Transliteration

Allathee yaraka heenataqoom

Yusuf Ali

Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer),

26:218

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ

Transliteration

Wataqallubaka fee assajideen

Yusuf Ali

And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves,

26:219

إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Transliteration

Innahu huwa assameeAAu alAAaleem

Yusuf Ali

For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things.

26:220

هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَنْ تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ

Transliteration

Hal onabbi-okum AAala man tanazzaluashshayateen

Yusuf Ali

Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend?

26:221

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

Transliteration

Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakinatheem

Yusuf Ali

They descend on every lying, wicked person,

26:222

يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ

Transliteration

Yulqoona assamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboon

Yusuf Ali

(Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars.

26:223

وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ

Transliteration

WashshuAAaraoyattabiAAuhumu alghawoon

Yusuf Ali

And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them:

26:224

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ

Transliteration

Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadinyaheemoon

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?-

26:225

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ

Transliteration

Waannahum yaqooloona ma layafAAaloon

Yusuf Ali

And that they say what they practise not?-

26:226

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانْتَصَرُوا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَيَّ مُنْقَلَبٍ يَنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati wathakaroo Allahakatheeran wantasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoowasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayyamunqalabin yanqaliboon

Yusuf Ali

Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take!

26:227

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

طس ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْقُرْآنِ وَكِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Ta-seen tilka ayatualqur-ani wakitabin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

These are verses of the Qur'an,-a book that makes (things) clear;

27:1

هُدًى وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Hudan wabushra lilmu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

A guide: and glad tidings for the believers,-

27:2

الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ

Transliteration

Allatheena yuqeemoona assalatawayu/toona azzakata wahum bil-akhiratihum yooqinoon

Yusuf Ali

Those who establish regular prayers and give in regular charity, and also have (full) assurance of the hereafter.

27:3

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

Transliteration

Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabil-akhirati zayyanna lahum aAAmalahumfahum yaAAmahoon

Yusuf Ali

As to those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds pleasing in their eyes; and so they wander about in distraction.

27:4

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوءُ الْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ هُمُ الْأَخْسَرُونَ

Transliteration

Ola-ika allatheena lahum soo-oalAAathabi wahum fee al-akhirati humu al-akhsaroon

Yusuf Ali

Such are they for whom a grievous Penalty is (waiting); and in the Hereafter theirs will be the greatest loss.

27:5

وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى الْقُرْآنَ مِنْ لَدُنْ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wa-innaka latulaqqa alqur-anamin ladun hakeemin AAaleem

Yusuf Ali

As to thee, the Qur'an is bestowed upon thee from the presence of one who is wise and all-knowing.

27:6

إِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهْلِهِ إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا سَآتِيكُمْ مِنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ آتِيكُمْ بِشِهَابٍ قَبَسٍ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ

Transliteration

Ith qala moosa li-ahlihiinnee anastu naran saateekum minhabikhabarin aw ateekum bishihabin qabasinlaAAallakum tastaloon

Yusuf Ali

Behold! Moses said to his family: "I perceive a fire; soon will I bring you from there some information, or I will bring you a burning brand to light our fuel, that ye may warm yourselves.

27:7

فَلَمَّا جَاءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنْ بُورِكَ مَنْ فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Falamma jaaha noodiya anboorika man fee annari waman hawlahawasubhana Allahi rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

But when he came to the (fire), a voice was heard: "Blessed are those in the fire and those around: and glory to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

27:8

يَا مُوسَىٰ إِنَّهُ أَنَا اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Transliteration

Ya moosa innahu ana AllahualAAazeezu alhakeem

Yusuf Ali

"O Moses! verily, I am Allah, the exalted in might, the wise!....

27:9

وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ يَا مُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّي لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

Transliteration

Waalqi AAasaka falamma raahatahtazzu kaannaha jannun walla mudbiranwalam yuAAaqqib ya moosa la takhaf innee layakhafu ladayya almursaloon

Yusuf Ali

"Now do thou throw thy rod!" But when he saw it moving (of its own accord)as if it had been a snake, he turned back in retreat, and retraced not his steps: "O Moses!" (it was said), "Fear not: truly, in My presence, those called as messengers have no fear,-

27:10

إِلَّا مَنْ ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْنًا بَعْدَ سُوءٍ فَإِنِّي غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

Transliteration

Illa man thalama thummabaddala husnan baAAda soo-in fa-innee ghafoorun raheem

Yusuf Ali

"But if any have done wrong and have thereafter substituted good to take the place of evil, truly, I am Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

27:11

وَأَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ ۖ فِي تِسْعِ آيَاتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

Transliteration

Waadkhil yadaka fee jaybika takhruj baydaamin ghayri soo-in fee tisAAi ayatin ilafirAAawna waqawmihi innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeen

Yusuf Ali

"Now put thy hand into thy bosom, and it will come forth white without stain (or harm): (these are) among the nine Signs (thou wilt take) to Pharaoh and his people: for they are a people rebellious in transgression."

27:12

فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُمْ آيَاتُنَا مُبْصِرَةً قَالُوا هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Falamma jaat-hum ayatunamubsiratan qaloo hatha sihrun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

But when Our Signs came to them, that should have opened their eyes, they said: "This is sorcery manifest!"

27:13

وَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ ظُلْمًا وَعُلُوًّا ۚ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

Transliteration

Wajahadoo biha wastayqanat-haanfusuhum thulman waAAuluwwan fanthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideen

Yusuf Ali

And they rejected those Signs in iniquity and arrogance, though their souls were convinced thereof: so see what was the end of those who acted corruptly!

27:14

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا دَاوُودَ وَسُلَيْمَانَ عِلْمًا ۖ وَقَالَا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Walaqad atayna dawoodawasulaymana AAilman waqala alhamdulillahi allathee faddalana AAalakatheerin min AAibadihi almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

We gave (in the past) knowledge to David and Solomon: And they both said: "Praise be to Allah, Who has favoured us above many of his servants who believe!"

27:15

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَانُ دَاوُودَ ۖ وَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنْطِقَ الطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْمُبِينُ

Transliteration

Wawaritha sulaymanu dawoodawaqala ya ayyuha annasuAAullimna mantiqa attayri waooteenamin kulli shay-in inna hatha lahuwa alfadlualmubeen

Yusuf Ali

And Solomon was David's heir. He said: "O ye people! We have been taught the speech of birds, and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah.)"

27:16

وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَانَ جُنُودُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ

Transliteration

Wahushira lisulaymanajunooduhu mina aljinni wal-insi wattayrifahum yoozaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

And before Solomon were marshalled his hosts,- of Jinns and men and birds, and they were all kept in order and ranks.

27:17

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَتَوْا عَلَىٰ وَادِ النَّمْلِ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٌ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَانُ وَجُنُودُهُ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Transliteration

Hatta itha ataw AAalawadi annamli qalat namlatun ya ayyuhaannamlu odkhuloo masakinakum la yahtimannakumsulaymanu wajunooduhu wahum la yashAAuroon

Yusuf Ali

At length, when they came to a (lowly) valley of ants, one of the ants said: "O ye ants, get into your habitations, lest Solomon and his hosts crush you (under foot) without knowing it."

27:18

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكًا مِنْ قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ

Transliteration

Fatabassama dahikan min qawlihawaqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allateeanAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihantardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadikaassaliheen

Yusuf Ali

So he smiled, amused at her speech; and he said: "O my Lord! so order me that I may be grateful for Thy favours, which thou hast bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may work the righteousness that will please Thee: And admit me, by Thy Grace, to the ranks of Thy righteous Servants."

27:19

وَتَفَقَّدَ الطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَا لِيَ لَا أَرَى الْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ الْغَائِبِينَ

Transliteration

Watafaqqada attayra faqalama liya la ara alhudhuda am kana minaalgha-ibeen

Yusuf Ali

And he took a muster of the Birds; and he said: "Why is it I see not the Hoopoe? Or is he among the absentees?

27:20

لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا أَوْ لَأَذْبَحَنَّهُ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّي بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

LaoAAaththibannahu AAathabanshadeedan aw laathbahannahu aw laya/tiyannee bisultaninmubeen

Yusuf Ali

"I will certainly punish him with a severe penalty, or execute him, unless he bring me a clear reason (for absence)."

27:21

فَمَكَثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ أَحَطْتُ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ وَجِئْتُكَ مِنْ سَبَإٍ بِنَبَإٍ يَقِينٍ

Transliteration

Famakatha ghayra baAAeedin faqala ahattubima lam tuhit bihi waji/tuka min saba-inbinaba-in yaqeen

Yusuf Ali

But the Hoopoe tarried not far: he (came up and) said: "I have compassed (territory) which thou hast not compassed, and I have come to thee from Saba with tidings true.

27:22

إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ امْرَأَةً تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَأُوتِيَتْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٌ

Transliteration

Innee wajadtu imraatan tamlikuhum waootiyatmin kulli shay-in walaha AAarshun AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

"I found (there) a woman ruling over them and provided with every requisite; and she has a magnificent throne.

27:23

وَجَدْتُهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Wajadtuha waqawmaha yasjudoonalishshamsi min dooni Allahi wazayyana lahumu ashshaytanuaAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani assabeeli fahumla yahtadoon

Yusuf Ali

"I found her and her people worshipping the sun besides Allah: Satan has made their deeds seem pleasing in their eyes, and has kept them away from the Path,- so they receive no guidance,-

27:24

أَلَّا يَسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ الَّذِي يُخْرِجُ الْخَبْءَ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُخْفُونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ

Transliteration

Alla yasjudoo lillahi allatheeyukhriju alkhabaa fee assamawati wal-ardiwayaAAlamu ma tukhfoona wama tuAAlinoon

Yusuf Ali

"(Kept them away from the Path), that they should not worship Allah, Who brings to light what is hidden in the heavens and the earth, and knows what ye hide and what ye reveal.

27:25

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ ۩

Transliteration

Allahu la ilaha illahuwa rabbu alAAarshi alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

"Allah!- there is no god but He!- Lord of the Throne Supreme!"

27:26

۞ قَالَ سَنَنْظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

Transliteration

Qala sananthuru asadaqtaam kunta mina alkathibeen

Yusuf Ali

(Solomon) said: "Soon shall we see whether thou hast told the truth or lied!

27:27

اذْهَبْ بِكِتَابِي هَٰذَا فَأَلْقِهْ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ

Transliteration

Ithhab bikitabee hathafaalqih ilayhim thumma tawalla AAanhum fanthurmatha yarjiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

"Go thou, with this letter of mine, and deliver it to them: then draw back from them, and (wait to) see what answer they return"...

27:28

قَالَتْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ إِنِّي أُلْقِيَ إِلَيَّ كِتَابٌ كَرِيمٌ

Transliteration

Qalat ya ayyuha almalaoinnee olqiya ilayya kitabun kareem

Yusuf Ali

(The queen) said: "Ye chiefs! here is delivered to me - a letter worthy of respect.

27:29

إِنَّهُ مِنْ سُلَيْمَانَ وَإِنَّهُ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Innahu min sulaymana wa-innahu bismiAllahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

"It is from Solomon, and is (as follows): 'In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful:

27:30

أَلَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَيَّ وَأْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration

Alla taAAloo AAalayya wa/tooneemuslimeen

Yusuf Ali

"'Be ye not arrogant against me, but come to me in submission (to the true Religion).'"

27:31

قَالَتْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِي فِي أَمْرِي مَا كُنْتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ

Transliteration

Qalat ya ayyuha almalaoaftoonee fee amree ma kuntu qatiAAatan amran hattatashhadoon

Yusuf Ali

She said: "Ye chiefs! advise me in (this) my affair: no affair have I decided except in your presence."

27:32

قَالُوا نَحْنُ أُولُو قُوَّةٍ وَأُولُو بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ وَالْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكِ فَانْظُرِي مَاذَا تَأْمُرِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo nahnu oloo quwwatinwaoloo ba/sin shadeedin wal-amru ilayki fanthureematha ta/mureen

Yusuf Ali

They said: "We are endued with strength, and given to vehement war: but the command is with thee; so consider what thou wilt command."

27:33

قَالَتْ إِنَّ الْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُوا قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوا أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَا أَذِلَّةً ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ

Transliteration

Qalat inna almulooka ithadakhaloo qaryatan afsadooha wajaAAaloo aAAizzata ahlihaathillatan wakathalika yafAAaloon

Yusuf Ali

She said: "Kings, when they enter a country, despoil it, and make the noblest of its people its meanest thus do they behave.

27:34

وَإِنِّي مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِمْ بِهَدِيَّةٍ فَنَاظِرَةٌ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-innee mursilatun ilayhim bihadiyyatin fanathiratunbima yarjiAAu almursaloon

Yusuf Ali

"But I am going to send him a present, and (wait) to see with what (answer) return (my) ambassadors."

27:35

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٍ فَمَا آتَانِيَ اللَّهُ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا آتَاكُمْ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ

Transliteration

Falamma jaa sulaymana qalaatumiddoonani bimalin fama ataniyaAllahu khayrun mimma atakum bal antumbihadiyyatikum tafrahoon

Yusuf Ali

Now when (the embassy) came to Solomon, he said: "Will ye give me abundance in wealth? But that which Allah has given me is better than that which He has given you! Nay it is ye who rejoice in your gift!

27:36

ارْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ بِجُنُودٍ لَا قِبَلَ لَهُمْ بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُمْ مِنْهَا أَذِلَّةً وَهُمْ صَاغِرُونَ

Transliteration

IrjiAA ilayhim falana/tiyannahum bijunoodinla qibala lahum biha walanukhrijannahum minhaathillatan wahum saghiroon

Yusuf Ali

"Go back to them, and be sure we shall come to them with such hosts as they will never be able to meet: We shall expel them from there in disgrace, and they will feel humbled (indeed)."

27:37

قَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَيُّكُمْ يَأْتِينِي بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration

Qala ya ayyuha almalaoayyukum ya/teenee biAAarshiha qabla an ya/toonee muslimeen

Yusuf Ali

He said (to his own men): "Ye chiefs! which of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?"

27:38

قَالَ عِفْرِيتٌ مِنَ الْجِنِّ أَنَا آتِيكَ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقُومَ مِنْ مَقَامِكَ ۖ وَإِنِّي عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِيٌّ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

Qala AAifreetun mina aljinni anaateeka bihi qabla an taqooma min maqamika wa-inneAAalayhi laqawiyyun ameen

Yusuf Ali

Said an 'Ifrit, of the Jinns: "I will bring it to thee before thou rise from thy council: indeed I have full strength for the purpose, and may be trusted."

27:39

قَالَ الَّذِي عِنْدَهُ عِلْمٌ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ أَنَا آتِيكَ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ مُسْتَقِرًّا عِنْدَهُ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِنْ فَضْلِ رَبِّي لِيَبْلُوَنِي أَأَشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُ ۖ وَمَنْ شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّي غَنِيٌّ كَرِيمٌ

Transliteration

Qala allathee AAindahu AAilmunmina alkitabi ana ateeka bihi qabla anyartadda ilayka tarfuka falamma raahumustaqirran AAindahu qala hatha min fadlirabbee liyabluwanee aashkuru am akfuru waman shakara fa-innamayashkuru linafsihi waman kafara fa-inna rabbee ghaniyyun kareem

Yusuf Ali

Said one who had knowledge of the Book: "I will bring it to thee within the twinkling of an eye!" Then when (Solomon) saw it placed firmly before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord!- to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! and if any is grateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his own soul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free of all Needs, Supreme in Honour !"

27:40

قَالَ نَكِّرُوا لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنْظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِي أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Qala nakkiroo laha AAarshahananthur atahtadee am takoonu mina allatheenala yahtadoon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "Transform her throne out of all recognition by her: let us see whether she is guided (to the truth) or is one of those who receive no guidance."

27:41

فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ ۖ قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُ هُوَ ۚ وَأُوتِينَا الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration

Falamma jaat qeela ahakathaAAarshuki qalat kaannahu huwa waooteena alAAilmamin qabliha wakunna muslimeen

Yusuf Ali

So when she arrived, she was asked, "Is this thy throne?" She said, "It was just like this; and knowledge was bestowed on us in advance of this, and we have submitted to Allah (in Islam)."

27:42

وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَتْ تَعْبُدُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِنْ قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ

Transliteration

Wasaddaha ma kanattaAAbudu min dooni Allahi innaha kanat minqawmin kafireen

Yusuf Ali

And he diverted her from the worship of others besides Allah: for she was (sprung) of a people that had no faith.

27:43

قِيلَ لَهَا ادْخُلِي الصَّرْحَ ۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةً وَكَشَفَتْ عَنْ سَاقَيْهَا ۚ قَالَ إِنَّهُ صَرْحٌ مُمَرَّدٌ مِنْ قَوَارِيرَ ۗ قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَانَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Qeela laha odkhulee assarhafalamma raat-hu hasibat-hu lujjatan wakashafat AAansaqayha qala innahu sarhunmumarradun min qawareera qalat rabbi innee thalamtunafsee waaslamtu maAAa sulaymana lillahi rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

She was asked to enter the lofty Palace: but when she saw it, she thought it was a lake of water, and she (tucked up her skirts), uncovering her legs. He said: "This is but a palace paved smooth with slabs of glass." She said: "O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul: I do (now) submit (in Islam), with Solomon, to the Lord of the Worlds."

27:44

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَانِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ

Transliteration

Walaqad arsalna ila thamoodaakhahum salihan ani oAAbudoo Allahafa-itha hum fareeqani yakhtasimoon

Yusuf Ali

We sent (aforetime), to the Thamud, their brother Salih, saying, "Serve Allah": But behold, they became two factions quarrelling with each other.

27:45

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ الْحَسَنَةِ ۖ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

Transliteration

Qala ya qawmi limatastaAAjiloona bissayyi-ati qabla alhasanati lawlatastaghfiroona Allaha laAAallakum turhamoon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "O my people! why ask ye to hasten on the evil in preference to the good? If only ye ask Allah for forgiveness, ye may hope to receive mercy.

27:46

قَالُوا اطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَنْ مَعَكَ ۚ قَالَ طَائِرُكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ۖ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ تُفْتَنُونَ

Transliteration

Qaloo ittayyarna bikawabiman maAAaka qala ta-irukum AAinda Allahibal antum qawmun tuftanoon

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Ill omen do we augur from thee and those that are with thee". He said: "Your ill omen is with Allah; yea, ye are a people under trial."

27:47

وَكَانَ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ

Transliteration

Wakana fee almadeenati tisAAatu rahtinyufsidoona fee al-ardi wala yuslihoon

Yusuf Ali

There were in the city nine men of a family, who made mischief in the land, and would not reform.

27:48

قَالُوا تَقَاسَمُوا بِاللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُ وَأَهْلَهُ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِ مَا شَهِدْنَا مَهْلِكَ أَهْلِهِ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

Transliteration

Qaloo taqasamoo billahilanubayyitannahu waahlahu thumma lanaqoolanna liwaliyyihi mashahidna mahlika ahlihi wa-inna lasadiqoon

Yusuf Ali

They said: "Swear a mutual oath by Allah that we shall make a secret night attack on him and his people, and that we shall then say to his heir (when he seeks vengeance): 'We were not present at the slaughter of his people, and we are positively telling the truth.'"

27:49

وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْرًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Transliteration

Wamakaroo makran wamakarna makranwahum la yashAAuroon

Yusuf Ali

They plotted and planned, but We too planned, even while they perceived it not.

27:50

فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ أَنَّا دَمَّرْنَاهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Transliteration

Fanthur kayfa kanaAAaqibatu makrihim anna dammarnahumwaqawmahum ajmaAAeen

Yusuf Ali

Then see what was the end of their plot!- this, that We destroyed them and their people, all (of them).

27:51

فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةً بِمَا ظَلَمُوا ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Fatilka buyootuhum khawiyatan bimathalamoo inna fee thalika laayatanliqawmin yaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Now such were their houses, - in utter ruin, - because they practised wrong-doing. Verily in this is a Sign for people of knowledge.

27:52

وَأَنْجَيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَكَانُوا يَتَّقُونَ

Transliteration

Waanjayna allatheena amanoowakanoo yattaqoon

Yusuf Ali

And We saved those who believed and practised righteousness.

27:53

وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ

Transliteration

Walootan ith qalaliqawmihi ata/toona alfahishata waantum tubsiroon

Yusuf Ali

(We also sent) Lut (as a messenger): behold, He said to his people, "Do ye do what is shameful though ye see (its iniquity)?

27:54

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِنْ دُونِ النِّسَاءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ

Transliteration

A-innakum lata/toona arrijalashahwatan min dooni annisa-i bal antum qawmuntajhaloon

Yusuf Ali

Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant!

27:55
