Quoting the Holy Qur’an:

“And to rehearse the Qur'an: and if any accept guidance, they do it for the good of their own souls, and if any stray, say: "I am only a Warner".
An-Naml, Chapter #27, Verse #92)

Juzu' 25

• The Qur’an is a warning of the Day of Gathering; • Allah selects whom He wills to carry the Message; what then is strange about Muhammad being chosen as a Messenger? • Evidences pointing to Allah’s Oneness; • The Qur’an gives life to the hearts – have you looked to how much life your heart has been granted? • The lofty status of the Qur’an and a repudiation of some of the claims of the pagans against it; • That following ones’ forefathers without sound evidence is censured; • Allah has apportioned and decreed man’s provision, so do not despair of your worldly lot; • The only companionship of real benefit is that of the righteous; • The consequences of arrogantly rejecting the truth in this world; • Beware of following desires; people could take their desires as their deity without even realising!

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

۞ إِلَيْهِ يُرَدُّ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ ۚ وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِنْ ثَمَرَاتٍ مِنْ أَكْمَامِهَا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنْثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِ ۚ وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَائِي قَالُوا آذَنَّاكَ مَا مِنَّا مِنْ شَهِيدٍ

Transliteration

Ilayhi yuraddu AAilmu assaAAatiwama takhruju min thamaratin min akmamihawama tahmilu min ontha wala tadaAAuilla biAAilmihi wayawma yunadeehim ayna shuraka-eeqaloo athannaka ma minna minshaheed

Yusuf Ali

To Him is referred the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment: He knows all): No date-fruit comes out of its sheath, nor does a female conceive (within her womb) nor bring forth the Day that (Allah) will propound to them the (question), "Where are the partners (ye attributed to Me?" They will say, "We do assure thee not one of us can bear witness!"

41:47

وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ وَظَنُّوا مَا لَهُمْ مِنْ مَحِيصٍ

Transliteration

Wadalla AAanhum ma kanooyadAAoona min qablu wathannoo ma lahum minmahees

Yusuf Ali

The (deities) they used to invoke aforetime will leave them in the lurch, and they will perceive that they have no way of escape.

41:48

لَا يَسْأَمُ الْإِنْسَانُ مِنْ دُعَاءِ الْخَيْرِ وَإِنْ مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَيَئُوسٌ قَنُوطٌ

Transliteration

La yas-amu al-insanu min duAAa-ialkhayri wa-in massahu ashsharru fayaoosun qanoot

Yusuf Ali

Man does not weary of asking for good (things), but if ill touches him, he gives up all hope (and) is lost in despair.

41:49

وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ رَحْمَةً مِنَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَٰذَا لِي وَمَا أَظُنُّ السَّاعَةَ قَائِمَةً وَلَئِنْ رُجِعْتُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي إِنَّ لِي عِنْدَهُ لَلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ

Transliteration

Wala-in athaqnahu rahmatanminna min baAAdi darraa massat-hulayaqoolanna hatha lee wama athunnu assaAAataqa-imatan wala-in rujiAAtu ila rabbee inna leeAAindahu lalhusna falanunabbi-anna allatheenakafaroo bima AAamiloo walanutheeqannahum min AAathabinghaleeth

Yusuf Ali

When we give him a taste of some Mercy from Ourselves, after some adversity has touched him, he is sure to say, "This is due to my (merit): I think not that the Hour (of Judgment) will (ever) be established; but if I am brought back to my Lord, I have (much) good (stored) in His sight!" But We will show the Unbelievers the truth of all that they did, and We shall give them the taste of a severe Penalty.

41:50

وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَأَىٰ بِجَانِبِهِ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ الشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَاءٍ عَرِيضٍ

Transliteration

Wa-itha anAAamna AAalaal-insani aAArada wanaa bijanibihiwa-itha massahu ashsharru fathoo duAAa-inAAareed

Yusuf Ali

When We bestow favours on man, he turns away, and gets himself remote on his side (instead of coming to Us); and when evil seizes him, (he comes) full of prolonged prayer!

41:51

قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاقٍ بَعِيدٍ

Transliteration

Qul araaytum in kana min AAindi Allahithumma kafartum bihi man adallu mimman huwa fee shiqaqinbaAAeed

Yusuf Ali

Say: "See ye if the (Revelation) is (really) from Allah, and yet do ye reject it? Who is more astray than one who is in a schism far (from any purpose)?"

41:52

سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ ۗ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

Transliteration

Sanureehim ayatina feeal-afaqi wafee anfusihim hattayatabayyana lahum annahu alhaqqu awa lam yakfi birabbikaannahu AAala kulli shay-in shaheed

Yusuf Ali

Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things?

41:53

أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِنْ لِقَاءِ رَبِّهِمْ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُحِيطٌ

Transliteration

Ala innahum fee miryatin min liqa-irabbihim ala innahu bikulli shay-in muheet

Yusuf Ali

Ah indeed! Are they in doubt concerning the Meeting with their Lord? Ah indeed! It is He that doth encompass all things!

41:54

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

42:1

عسق

AAayn-seen-qaf

Yusuf Ali

'Ain. Sin. Qaf.

42:2

كَذَٰلِكَ يُوحِي إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ اللَّهُ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Transliteration

Kathalika yoohee ilayka wa-ilaallatheena min qablika Allahu alAAazeezu alhakeem

Yusuf Ali

Thus doth (He) send inspiration to thee as (He did) to those before thee,- Allah, Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom.

42:3

لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Transliteration

Lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: and He is Most High, Most Great.

42:4

تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْ فَوْقِهِنَّ ۚ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Takadu assamawatuyatafattarna min fawqihinna walmala-ikatuyusabbihoona bihamdi rabbihim wayastaghfiroonaliman fee al-ardi ala inna Allaha huwaalghafooru arraheem

Yusuf Ali

The heavens are almost rent asunder from above them (by Him Glory): and the angels celebrate the Praises of their Lord, and pray for forgiveness for (all) beings on earth: Behold! Verily Allah is He, the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

42:5

وَالَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللَّهُ حَفِيظٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِوَكِيلٍ

Transliteration

Wallatheena ittakhathoomin doonihi awliyaa Allahu hafeethunAAalayhim wama anta AAalayhim biwakeel

Yusuf Ali

And those who take as protectors others besides Him,- Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs.

42:6

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لِتُنْذِرَ أُمَّ الْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنْذِرَ يَوْمَ الْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ فَرِيقٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِي السَّعِيرِ

Transliteration

Wakathalika awhaynailayka qur-anan AAarabiyyan litunthira omma alqurawaman hawlaha watunthira yawma aljamAAi larayba feehi fareequn fee aljannati wafareequn fee assaAAeer

Yusuf Ali

Thus have We sent by inspiration to thee an Arabic Qur'an: that thou mayest warn the Mother of Cities and all around her,- and warn (them) of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt: (when) some will be in the Garden, and some in the Blazing Fire.

42:7

وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَعَلَهُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَلَٰكِنْ يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَالظَّالِمُونَ مَا لَهُمْ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

Transliteration

Walaw shaa Allahu lajaAAalahumommatan wahidatan walakin yudkhilu man yashaofee rahmatihi waththalimoonama lahum min waliyyin wala naseer

Yusuf Ali

If Allah had so willed, He could have made them a single people; but He admits whom He will to His Mercy; and the Wrong-doers will have no protector nor helper.

42:8

أَمِ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۖ فَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْوَلِيُّ وَهُوَ يُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration

Ami ittakhathoo min doonihi awliyaafallahu huwa alwaliyyu wahuwa yuhyee almawtawahuwa AAala kulli shay-in qadeer

Yusuf Ali

What! Have they taken (for worship) protectors besides Him? But it is Allah,- He is the Protector, and it is He Who gives life to the dead: It is He Who has power over all things,

42:9

وَمَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَحُكْمُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبِّي عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ

Transliteration

Wama ikhtalaftum feehi min shay-in fahukmuhuila Allahi thalikumu Allahu rabbeeAAalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi oneeb

Yusuf Ali

Whatever it be wherein ye differ, the decision thereof is with Allah: such is Allah my Lord: In Him I trust, and to Him I turn.

42:10

فَاطِرُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ أَزْوَاجًا ۖ يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ ۚ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ ۖ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ

Transliteration

Fatiru assamawatiwal-ardi jaAAala lakum min anfusikum azwajanwamina al-anAAami azwajan yathraokum feehilaysa kamithlihi shay-on wahuwa assameeAAu albaseer

Yusuf Ali

(He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).

42:11

لَهُ مَقَالِيدُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Lahu maqaleedu assamawatiwal-ardi yabsutu arrizqa liman yashaowayaqdiru innahu bikulli shay-in AAaleem

Yusuf Ali

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: He enlarges and restricts. The Sustenance to whom He will: for He knows full well all things.

42:12

۞ شَرَعَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِ نُوحًا وَالَّذِي أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ ۖ أَنْ أَقِيمُوا الدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا فِيهِ ۚ كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۚ اللَّهُ يَجْتَبِي إِلَيْهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي إِلَيْهِ مَنْ يُنِيبُ

Transliteration

SharaAAa lakum mina addeeni mawassa bihi noohan wallathee awhaynailayka wama wassayna bihi ibraheemawamoosa waAAeesa an aqeemoo addeena walatatafarraqoo feehi kabura AAala almushrikeena matadAAoohum ilayhi Allahu yajtabee ilayhi man yashaowayahdee ilayhi man yuneeb

Yusuf Ali

The same religion has He established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah - the which We have sent by inspiration to thee - and that which We enjoined on Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: Namely, that ye should remain steadfast in religion, and make no divisions therein: to those who worship other things than Allah, hard is the (way) to which thou callest them. Allah chooses to Himself those whom He pleases, and guides to Himself those who turn (to Him).

42:13

وَمَا تَفَرَّقُوا إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَبِّكَ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ أُورِثُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِنْهُ مُرِيبٍ

Transliteration

Wama tafarraqoo illa minbaAAdi ma jaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum walawlakalimatun sabaqat min rabbika ila ajalin musamman laqudiyabaynahum wa-inna allatheena oorithoo alkitaba minbaAAdihim lafee shakkin minhu mureeb

Yusuf Ali

And they became divided only after Knowledge reached them,- through selfish envy as between themselves. Had it not been for a Word that went forth before from thy Lord, (tending) to a Term appointed, the matter would have been settled between them: But truly those who have inherited the Book after them are in suspicious (disquieting) doubt concerning it.

42:14

فَلِذَٰلِكَ فَادْعُ ۖ وَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَا أُمِرْتَ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۖ وَقُلْ آمَنْتُ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ كِتَابٍ ۖ وَأُمِرْتُ لِأَعْدِلَ بَيْنَكُمُ ۖ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا وَرَبُّكُمْ ۖ لَنَا أَعْمَالُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَالُكُمْ ۖ لَا حُجَّةَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ ۖ اللَّهُ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ

Transliteration

Falithalika fadAAu wastaqimkama omirta wala tattabiAA ahwaahum waqul amantubima anzala Allahu min kitabin waomirtuli-aAAdila baynakum Allahu rabbuna warabbukum lanaaAAmaluna walakum aAAmalukum la hujjatabaynana wabaynakumu Allahu yajmaAAu baynanawa-ilayhi almaseer

Yusuf Ali

Now then, for that (reason), call (them to the Faith), and stand steadfast as thou art commanded, nor follow thou their vain desires; but say: "I believe in the Book which Allah has sent down; and I am commanded to judge justly between you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord: for us (is the responsibility for) our deeds, and for you for your deeds. There is no contention between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is (our) Final Goal.

42:15

وَالَّذِينَ يُحَاجُّونَ فِي اللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ حُجَّتُهُمْ دَاحِضَةٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ غَضَبٌ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

Transliteration

Wallatheena yuhajjoonafee Allahi min baAAdi ma istujeeba lahu hujjatuhumdahidatun AAinda rabbihim waAAalayhim ghadabunwalahum AAathabun shadeed

Yusuf Ali

But those who dispute concerning Allah after He has been accepted,- futile is their dispute in the Sight of their Lord: on them will be a Penalty terrible.

42:16

اللَّهُ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ وَالْمِيزَانَ ۗ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ قَرِيبٌ

Transliteration

Allahu allathee anzala alkitababilhaqqi walmeezani wamayudreeka laAAalla assaAAata qareeb

Yusuf Ali

It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realise that perhaps the Hour is close at hand?

42:17

يَسْتَعْجِلُ بِهَا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهَا ۖ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مُشْفِقُونَ مِنْهَا وَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهَا الْحَقُّ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُمَارُونَ فِي السَّاعَةِ لَفِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ

Transliteration

YastaAAjilu biha allatheena layu/minoona biha wallatheena amanoomushfiqoona minha wayaAAlamoona annaha alhaqquala inna allatheena yumaroona fee assaAAatilafee dalalin baAAeed

Yusuf Ali

Only those wish to hasten it who believe not in it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know that it is the Truth. Behold, verily those that dispute concerning the Hour are far astray.

42:18

اللَّهُ لَطِيفٌ بِعِبَادِهِ يَرْزُقُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۖ وَهُوَ الْقَوِيُّ الْعَزِيزُ

Transliteration

Allahu lateefun biAAibadihiyarzuqu man yashao wahuwa alqawiyyu alAAazeez

Yusuf Ali

Gracious is Allah to His servants: He gives Sustenance to whom He pleases: and He has power and can carry out His Will.

42:19

مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ الْآخِرَةِ نَزِدْ لَهُ فِي حَرْثِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ حَرْثَ الدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِهِ مِنْهَا وَمَا لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ مِنْ نَصِيبٍ

Transliteration

Man kana yureedu hartha al-akhiratinazid lahu fee harthihi waman kana yureedu harthaaddunya nu/tihi minha wama lahu feeal-akhirati min naseeb

Yusuf Ali

To any that desires the tilth of the Hereafter, We give increase in his tilth, and to any that desires the tilth of this world, We grant somewhat thereof, but he has no share or lot in the Hereafter.

42:20

أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللَّهُ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةُ الْفَصْلِ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۗ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Am lahum shurakao sharaAAoo lahummina addeeni ma lam ya/than bihi Allahuwalawla kalimatu alfasli laqudiya baynahumwa-inna aththalimeena lahum AAathabunaleem

Yusuf Ali

What! have they partners (in godhead), who have established for them some religion without the permission of Allah? Had it not been for the Decree of Judgment, the matter would have been decided between them (at once). But verily the Wrong-doers will have a grievous Penalty.

42:21

تَرَى الظَّالِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا وَهُوَ وَاقِعٌ بِهِمْ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فِي رَوْضَاتِ الْجَنَّاتِ ۖ لَهُمْ مَا يَشَاءُونَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَضْلُ الْكَبِيرُ

Transliteration

Tara aththalimeenamushfiqeena mimma kasaboo wahuwa waqiAAun bihim wallatheenaamanoo waAAamiloo assalihati fee rawdatialjannati lahum ma yashaoona AAinda rabbihimthalika huwa alfadlu alkabeer

Yusuf Ali

Thou wilt see the Wrong-doers in fear on account of what they have earned, and (the burden of) that must (necessarily) fall on them. But those who believe and work righteous deeds will be in the luxuriant meads of the Gardens: they shall have, before their Lord, all that they wish for. That will indeed be the magnificent Bounty (of Allah).

42:22

ذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ ۗ قُلْ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَىٰ ۗ وَمَنْ يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَزِدْ لَهُ فِيهَا حُسْنًا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

Transliteration

Thalika allathee yubashshiruAllahu AAibadahu allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati qul laas-alukum AAalayhi ajran illa almawaddata fee alqurbawaman yaqtarif hasanatan nazid lahu feeha husnaninna Allaha ghafoorun shakoor

Yusuf Ali

That is (the Bounty) whereof Allah gives Glad Tidings to His Servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." And if any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Ready to appreciate (service).

42:23

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا ۖ فَإِنْ يَشَإِ اللَّهُ يَخْتِمْ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ ۗ وَيَمْحُ اللَّهُ الْبَاطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

Transliteration

Am yaqooloona iftara AAala Allahikathiban fa-in yasha-i Allahu yakhtim AAalaqalbika wayamhu Allahu albatila wayuhiqqualhaqqa bikalimatihi innahu AAaleemun bithatiassudoor

Yusuf Ali

What! Do they say, "He has forged a falsehood against Allah"? But if Allah willed, He could seal up thy heart. And Allah blots out Vanity, and proves the Truth by His Words. For He knows well the secrets of all hearts.

42:24

وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَقْبَلُ التَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَعْفُو عَنِ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee yaqbalu attawbataAAan AAibadihi wayaAAfoo AAani assayyi-atiwayaAAlamu ma tafAAaloon

Yusuf Ali

He is the One that accepts repentance from His Servants and forgives sins: and He knows all that ye do.

42:25

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ ۚ وَالْكَافِرُونَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ

Transliteration

Wayastajeebu allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati wayazeeduhum min fadlihiwalkafiroona lahum AAathabun shadeed

Yusuf Ali

And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers their is a terrible Penalty.

42:26

۞ وَلَوْ بَسَطَ اللَّهُ الرِّزْقَ لِعِبَادِهِ لَبَغَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِنْ يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٍ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ إِنَّهُ بِعِبَادِهِ خَبِيرٌ بَصِيرٌ

Transliteration

Walaw basata Allahu arrizqaliAAibadihi labaghaw fee al-ardi walakinyunazzilu biqadarin ma yashao innahu biAAibadihikhabeerun baseer

Yusuf Ali

If Allah were to enlarge the provision for His Servants, they would indeed transgress beyond all bounds through the earth; but he sends (it) down in due measure as He pleases. For He is with His Servants Well-acquainted, Watchful.

42:27

وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا وَيَنْشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُ ۚ وَهُوَ الْوَلِيُّ الْحَمِيد

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee yunazzilu alghaythamin baAAdi ma qanatoo wayanshuru rahmatahuwahuwa alwaliyyu alhameed

Yusuf Ali

He is the One that sends down rain (even) after (men) have given up all hope, and scatters His Mercy (far and wide). And He is the Protector, Worthy of all Praise.

42:28

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ خَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ جَمْعِهِمْ إِذَا يَشَاءُ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration

Wamin ayatihi khalqu assamawatiwal-ardi wama baththa feehima min dabbatinwahuwa AAala jamAAihim itha yashao qadeer

Yusuf Ali

And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has scattered through them: and He has power to gather them together when He wills.

42:29

وَمَا أَصَابَكُمْ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُو عَنْ كَثِيرٍ

Transliteration

Wama asabakum min museebatinfabima kasabat aydeekum wayaAAfoo AAan katheer

Yusuf Ali

Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness.

42:30

وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۖ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ

Transliteration

Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee al-ardiwama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin walanaseer

Yusuf Ali

Nor can ye frustrate (aught), (fleeing) through the earth; nor have ye, besides Allah, any one to protect or to help.

42:31

وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ الْجَوَارِ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ

Transliteration

Wamin ayatihi aljawarifee albahri kal-aAAlam

Yusuf Ali

And among His Signs are the ships, smooth-running through the ocean, (tall) as mountains.

42:32

إِنْ يَشَأْ يُسْكِنِ الرِّيحَ فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاكِدَ عَلَىٰ ظَهْرِهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ

Transliteration

In yasha/ yuskini arreehafayathlalna rawakida AAala thahrihiinna fee thalika laayatin likulli sabbarinshakoor

Yusuf Ali

If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful.

42:33

أَوْ يُوبِقْهُنَّ بِمَا كَسَبُوا وَيَعْفُ عَنْ كَثِيرٍ

Transliteration

Aw yoobiqhunna bima kasaboo wayaAAfuAAan katheer

Yusuf Ali

Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive.

42:34

وَيَعْلَمَ الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي آيَاتِنَا مَا لَهُمْ مِنْ مَحِيصٍ

Transliteration

WayaAAlama allatheena yujadiloonafee ayatina ma lahum min mahees

Yusuf Ali

But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape.

42:35

فَمَا أُوتِيتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَمَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَمَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ

Transliteration

Fama ooteetum min shay-in famataAAualhayati addunya wama AAindaAllahi khayrun waabqa lillatheena amanoowaAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloon

Yusuf Ali

Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord:

42:36

وَالَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ وَإِذَا مَا غَضِبُوا هُمْ يَغْفِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wallatheena yajtaniboona kaba-iraal-ithmi walfawahisha wa-itha ma ghadiboohum yaghfiroon

Yusuf Ali

Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive;

42:37

وَالَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَأَمْرُهُمْ شُورَىٰ بَيْنَهُمْ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ

Transliteration

Wallatheena istajaboolirabbihim waaqamoo assalatawaamruhum shoora baynahum wamimma razaqnahumyunfiqoon

Yusuf Ali

Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;

42:38

وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَهُمُ الْبَغْيُ هُمْ يَنْتَصِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wallatheena itha asabahumualbaghyu hum yantasiroon

Yusuf Ali

And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.

42:39

وَجَزَاءُ سَيِّئَةٍ سَيِّئَةٌ مِثْلُهَا ۖ فَمَنْ عَفَا وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَجْرُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الظَّالِمِينَ

Transliteration

Wajazao sayyi-atin sayyi-atun mithluhafaman AAafa waaslaha faajruhu AAalaAllahi innahu la yuhibbu aththalimeen

Yusuf Ali

The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong.

42:40

وَلَمَنِ انْتَصَرَ بَعْدَ ظُلْمِهِ فَأُولَٰئِكَ مَا عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ سَبِيلٍ

Transliteration

Walamani intasara baAAda thulmihifaola-ika ma AAalayhim min sabeel

Yusuf Ali

But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame.

42:41

إِنَّمَا السَّبِيلُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ يَظْلِمُونَ النَّاسَ وَيَبْغُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Innama assabeelu AAalaallatheena yathlimoona annasawayabghoona fee al-ardi bighayri alhaqqi ola-ikalahum AAathabun aleem

Yusuf Ali

The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous.

42:42

وَلَمَنْ صَبَرَ وَغَفَرَ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ

Transliteration

Walaman sabara waghafara inna thalikalamin AAazmi al-omoor

Yusuf Ali

But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs.

42:43

وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ ۗ وَتَرَى الظَّالِمِينَ لَمَّا رَأَوُا الْعَذَابَ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ إِلَىٰ مَرَدٍّ مِنْ سَبِيلٍ

Transliteration

Waman yudlili Allahu famalahu min waliyyin min baAAdihi watara aththalimeenalamma raawoo alAAathaba yaqooloona hal ilamaraddin min sabeel

Yusuf Ali

For any whom Allah leaves astray, there is no protector thereafter. And thou wilt see the Wrong-doers, when in sight of the Penalty, Say: "Is there any way (to effect) a return?"

42:44

وَتَرَاهُمْ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا خَاشِعِينَ مِنَ الذُّلِّ يَنْظُرُونَ مِنْ طَرْفٍ خَفِيٍّ ۗ وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ الْخَاسِرِينَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَأَهْلِيهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ فِي عَذَابٍ مُقِيمٍ

Transliteration

Watarahum yuAAradoona AAalayhakhashiAAeena mina aththulli yanthuroonamin tarfin khafiyyin waqala allatheena amanooinna alkhasireena allatheena khasiroo anfusahumwaahleehim yawma alqiyamati ala inna aththalimeenafee AAathabin muqeem

Yusuf Ali

And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace, (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!"

42:45

وَمَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ يَنْصُرُونَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ سَبِيلٍ

Transliteration

Wama kana lahum min awliyaayansuroonahum min dooni Allahi waman yudliliAllahu fama lahu min sabeel

Yusuf Ali

And no protectors have they to help them, other than Allah. And for any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is no way (to the Goal).

42:46

اسْتَجِيبُوا لِرَبِّكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لَا مَرَدَّ لَهُ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۚ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ مَلْجَإٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَكِيرٍ

Transliteration

Istajeeboo lirabbikum min qabli an ya/tiyayawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi ma lakummin malja-in yawma-ithin wama lakum min nakeer

Yusuf Ali

Hearken ye to your Lord, before there come a Day which there will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah! that Day there will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for denial (of your sins)!

42:47

فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُوا فَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ إِنْ عَلَيْكَ إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ ۗ وَإِنَّا إِذَا أَذَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً فَرِحَ بِهَا ۖ وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَإِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ كَفُورٌ

Transliteration

Fa-in aAAradoo fama arsalnakaAAalayhim hafeethan in AAalayka illaalbalaghu wa-inna itha athaqnaal-insana minna rahmatan fariha bihawa-in tusibhum sayyi-atun bima qaddamat aydeehimfa-inna al-insana kafoor

Yusuf Ali

If then they run away, We have not sent thee as a guard over them. Thy duty is but to convey (the Message). And truly, when We give man a taste of a Mercy from Ourselves, he doth exult thereat, but when some ill happens to him, on account of the deeds which his hands have sent forth, truly then is man ungrateful!

42:48

لِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ يَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ إِنَاثًا وَيَهَبُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ الذُّكُورَ

Transliteration

Lillahi mulku assamawatiwal-ardi yakhluqu ma yashao yahabuliman yashao inathan wayahabu liman yashao aththukoor

Yusuf Ali

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans). He bestows (children) male or female according to His Will (and Plan),

42:49

أَوْ يُزَوِّجُهُمْ ذُكْرَانًا وَإِنَاثًا ۖ وَيَجْعَلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ عَقِيمًا ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration

Aw yuzawwijuhum thukrananwa-inathan wayajAAalu man yashao AAaqeeman innahuAAaleemun qadeer

Yusuf Ali

Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He will: for He is full of Knowledge and Power.

42:50

۞ وَمَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا وَحْيًا أَوْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ رَسُولًا فَيُوحِيَ بِإِذْنِهِ مَا يَشَاءُ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ

Transliteration

Wama kana libasharin anyukallimahu Allahu illa wahyan aw min wara-ihijabin aw yursila rasoolan fayoohiya bi-ithnihima yashao innahu AAaliyyun hakeem

Yusuf Ali

It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by the sending of a messenger to reveal, with Allah's permission, what Allah wills: for He is Most High, Most Wise.

42:51

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا ۚ مَا كُنْتَ تَدْرِي مَا الْكِتَابُ وَلَا الْإِيمَانُ وَلَٰكِنْ جَعَلْنَاهُ نُورًا نَهْدِي بِهِ مَنْ نَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ۚ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِي إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wakathalika awhaynailayka roohan min amrina ma kunta tadree maalkitabu wala al-eemanu walakinjaAAalnahu nooran nahdee bihi man nashao min AAibadinawa-innaka latahdee ila siratin mustaqeem

Yusuf Ali

And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee: thou knewest not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith; but We have made the (Qur'an) a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the Straight Way,-

42:52

صِرَاطِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ أَلَا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَصِيرُ الْأُمُورُ

Transliteration

Sirati Allahi allatheelahu ma fee assamawati wamafee al-ardi ala ila Allahi taseerual-omoor

Yusuf Ali

The Way of Allah, to Whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Behold (how) all affairs tend towards Allah!

42:53

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

حم

Transliteration

Ha-meem

Yusuf Ali

Ha-Mim

43:1

وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

Transliteration

Walkitabi almubeen

Yusuf Ali

By the Book that makes things clear,-

43:2

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

Transliteration

Inna jaAAalnahu qur-ananAAarabiyyan laAAallakum taAAqiloona

Yusuf Ali

We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom).

43:3

وَإِنَّهُ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu fee ommi alkitabi ladaynalaAAaliyyun hakeem

Yusuf Ali

And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom.

43:4

أَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنْكُمُ الذِّكْرَ صَفْحًا أَنْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا مُسْرِفِينَ

Transliteration

Afanadribu AAankumu aththikrasafhan an kuntum qawman musrifeen

Yusuf Ali

Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds?

43:5

وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ فِي الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Wakam arsalna min nabiyyin feeal-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old?

43:6

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

Transliteration

Wama ya/teehim min nabiyyin illakanoo bihi yastahzi-oon

Yusuf Ali

And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him.

43:7

فَأَهْلَكْنَا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ بَطْشًا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Faahlakna ashadda minhum batshanwamada mathalu al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old.

43:8

وَلَئِنْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ

Transliteration

Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda layaqoolunna khalaqahunna alAAazeezualAAaleem

Yusuf Ali

If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';-

43:9

الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Allathee jaAAala lakumu al-ardamahdan wajaAAala lakum feeha subulan laAAallakum tahtadoon

Yusuf Ali

(Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way);

43:10

وَالَّذِي نَزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً بِقَدَرٍ فَأَنْشَرْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ

Transliteration

Wallathee nazzala mina assama-imaan biqadarin faansharna bihi baldatan maytan kathalikatukhrajoon

Yusuf Ali

That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);-

43:11

وَالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْفُلْكِ وَالْأَنْعَامِ مَا تَرْكَبُونَ

Transliteration

Wallathee khalaqa al-azwajakullaha wajaAAala lakum mina alfulki wal-anAAamima tarkaboon

Yusuf Ali

That has created pairs in all things, and has made for you ships and cattle on which ye ride,

43:12

لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ

Transliteration

Litastawoo AAala thuhoorihithumma tathkuroo niAAmata rabbikum itha istawaytumAAalayhi wataqooloo subhana allathee sakhkhara lanahatha wama kunna lahu muqrineen

Yusuf Ali

In order that ye may sit firm and square on their backs, and when so seated, ye may celebrate the (kind) favour of your Lord, and say, "Glory to Him Who has subjected these to our (use), for we could never have accomplished this (by ourselves),

43:13

وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-inna ila rabbinalamunqaliboon

Yusuf Ali

"And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!"

43:14

وَجَعَلُوا لَهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ جُزْءًا ۚ إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَكَفُورٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

WajaAAaloo lahu min AAibadihi juz-aninna al-insana lakafoorun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed!

43:15

أَمِ اتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ بَنَاتٍ وَأَصْفَاكُمْ بِالْبَنِينَ

Transliteration

Ami ittakhatha mimma yakhluqubanatin waasfakum bilbaneen

Yusuf Ali

What! has He taken daughters out of what He himself creates, and granted to you sons for choice?

43:16

وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

Transliteration

Wa-itha bushshira ahaduhum bimadaraba lirrahmani mathalan thallawajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheem

Yusuf Ali

When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) what he sets up as a likeness to (Allah) Most Gracious, his face darkens, and he is filled with inward grief!

43:17

أَوَمَنْ يُنَشَّأُ فِي الْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي الْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Awaman yunashshao fee alhilyatiwahuwa fee alkhisami ghayru mubeen

Yusuf Ali

Is then one brought up among trinkets, and unable to give a clear account in a dispute (to be associated with Allah)?

43:18

وَجَعَلُوا الْمَلَائِكَةَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ إِنَاثًا ۚ أَشَهِدُوا خَلْقَهُمْ ۚ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْأَلُونَ

Transliteration

WajaAAaloo almala-ikata allatheenahum AAibadu arrahmani inathanashahidoo khalqahum satuktabu shahadatuhum wayus-aloon

Yusuf Ali

And they make into females angels who themselves serve Allah. Did they witness their creation? Their evidence will be recorded, and they will be called to account!

43:19

وَقَالُوا لَوْ شَاءَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مَا عَبَدْنَاهُمْ ۗ مَا لَهُمْ بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ

Transliteration

Waqaloo law shaa arrahmanuma AAabadnahum ma lahum bithalika minAAilmin in hum illa yakhrusoon

Yusuf Ali

("Ah!") they say, "If it had been the will of (Allah) Most Gracious, we should not have worshipped such (deities)!" Of that they have no knowledge! they do nothing but lie!

43:20

أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَابًا مِنْ قَبْلِهِ فَهُمْ بِهِ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ

Transliteration

Am ataynahum kitabanmin qablihi fahum bihi mustamsikoon

Yusuf Ali

What! have We given them a Book before this, to which they are holding fast?

43:21

بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ مُهْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuhtadoon

Yusuf Ali

Nay! they say: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we do guide ourselves by their footsteps."

43:22

وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ نَذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ مُقْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Wakathalika ma arsalnamin qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qalamutrafooha inna wajadna abaanaAAala ommatin wa-inna AAala atharihimmuqtadoon

Yusuf Ali

Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."

43:23

۞ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهِ كَافِرُونَ

Transliteration

Qala awa law ji/tukum bi-ahdamimma wajadtum AAalayhi abaakum qalooinna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroon

Yusuf Ali

He said: "What! Even if I brought you better guidance than that which ye found your fathers following?" They said: "For us, we deny that ye (prophets) are sent (on a mission at all)."

43:24

فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۖ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Transliteration

Fantaqamna minhum fanthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeen

Yusuf Ali

So We exacted retribution from them: now see what was the end of those who rejected (Truth)!

43:25

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ إِنَّنِي بَرَاءٌ مِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-ith qala ibraheemuli-abeehi waqawmihi innanee baraon mimma taAAbudoon

Yusuf Ali

Behold! Abraham said to his father and his people: "I do indeed clear myself of what ye worship:

43:26

إِلَّا الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي فَإِنَّهُ سَيَهْدِينِ

Transliteration

Illa allathee fataraneefa-innahu sayahdeen

Yusuf Ali

"(I worship) only Him Who made me, and He will certainly guide me."

43:27

وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةً بَاقِيَةً فِي عَقِبِهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

Transliteration

WajaAAalaha kalimatan baqiyatanfee AAaqibihi laAAallahum yarjiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

And he left it as a Word to endure among those who came after him, that they may turn back (to Allah).

43:28

بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ وَرَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Bal mattaAAtu haola-i waabaahumhatta jaahumu alhaqqu warasoolunmubeen

Yusuf Ali

Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear.

43:29

وَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ قَالُوا هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّا بِهِ كَافِرُونَ

Transliteration

Walamma jaahumu alhaqquqaloo hatha sihrun wa-inna bihi kafiroon

Yusuf Ali

But when the Truth came to them, they said: "This is sorcery, and we do reject it."

43:30

وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ

Transliteration

Waqaloo lawla nuzzila hathaalqur-anu AAala rajulin mina alqaryatayni AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

Also, they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some leading man in either of the two (chief) cities?"

43:31

أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ مَعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ لِيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا ۗ وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ

Transliteration

Ahum yaqsimoona rahmata rabbika nahnuqasamna baynahum maAAeeshatahum fee alhayatiaddunya warafaAAna baAAdahum fawqabaAAdin darajatin liyattakhitha baAAduhumbaAAdan sukhriyyan warahmatu rabbika khayrun mimmayajmaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

Is it they who would portion out the Mercy of thy Lord? It is We Who portion out between them their livelihood in the life of this world: and We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may command work from others. But the Mercy of thy Lord is better than the (wealth) which they amass.

43:32

وَلَوْلَا أَنْ يَكُونَ النَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً لَجَعَلْنَا لِمَنْ يَكْفُرُ بِالرَّحْمَٰنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ

Transliteration

Walawla an yakoona annasuommatan wahidatan lajaAAalna liman yakfuru birrahmanilibuyootihim suqufan min fiddatin wamaAAarijaAAalayha yathharoon

Yusuf Ali

And were it not that (all) men might become of one (evil) way of life, We would provide, for everyone that blasphemes against (Allah) Most Gracious, silver roofs for their houses and (silver) stair-ways on which to go up,

43:33

وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْوَابًا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِئُونَ

Transliteration

Walibuyootihim abwaban wasururanAAalayha yattaki-oon

Yusuf Ali

And (silver) doors to their houses, and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline,

43:34

وَزُخْرُفًا ۚ وَإِنْ كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَالْآخِرَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration

Wazukhrufan wa-in kullu thalika lammamataAAu alhayati addunya wal-akhiratuAAinda rabbika lilmuttaqeen

Yusuf Ali

And also adornments of gold. But all this were nothing but conveniences of the present life: The Hereafter, in the sight of thy Lord is for the Righteous.

43:35

وَمَنْ يَعْشُ عَنْ ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَانًا فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ

Transliteration

Waman yaAAshu AAan thikri arrahmaninuqayyid lahu shaytanan fahuwa lahu qareen

Yusuf Ali

If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (Allah) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him.

43:36

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-innahum layasuddoonahum AAani assabeeliwayahsaboona annahum muhtadoon

Yusuf Ali

Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright!

43:37

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَنَا قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ الْقَرِينُ

Transliteration

Hatta itha jaanaqala ya layta baynee wabaynaka buAAda almashriqaynifabi/sa alqareen

Yusuf Ali

At length, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says (to his evil companion): "Would that between me and thee were the distance of East and West!" Ah! evil is the companion (indeed)!

43:38

وَلَنْ يَنْفَعَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ إِذْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ

Transliteration

Walan yanfaAAakumu alyawma ith thalamtumannakum fee alAAathabi mushtarikoon

Yusuf Ali

When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment!

43:39

أَفَأَنْتَ تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ أَوْ تَهْدِي الْعُمْيَ وَمَنْ كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Afaanta tusmiAAu assumma awtahdee alAAumya waman kana fee dalalinmubeen

Yusuf Ali

Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error?

43:40

فَإِمَّا نَذْهَبَنَّ بِكَ فَإِنَّا مِنْهُمْ مُنْتَقِمُونَ

Transliteration

Fa-imma nathhabanna bikafa-inna minhum muntaqimoon

Yusuf Ali

Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them,

43:41

أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ الَّذِي وَعَدْنَاهُمْ فَإِنَّا عَلَيْهِمْ مُقْتَدِرُونَ

Transliteration

Aw nuriyannaka allathee waAAadnahumfa-inna AAalayhim muqtadiroon

Yusuf Ali

Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them.

43:42

فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِالَّذِي أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ

Transliteration

Fastamsik billatheeoohiya ilayka innaka AAala siratinmustaqeem

Yusuf Ali

So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way.

43:43

وَإِنَّهُ لَذِكْرٌ لَكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖ وَسَوْفَ تُسْأَلُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu lathikrun laka waliqawmikawasawfa tus-aloon

Yusuf Ali

The (Qur'an) is indeed the message, for thee and for thy people; and soon shall ye (all) be brought to account.

43:44

وَاسْأَلْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رُسُلِنَا أَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ دُونِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ آلِهَةً يُعْبَدُونَ

Transliteration

Was-al man arsalna minqablika min rusulina ajaAAalna min dooni arrahmanialihatan yuAAbadoon

Yusuf Ali

And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped?

43:45

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Walaqad arsalna moosa bi-ayatinaila firAAawna wamala-ihi faqala innee rasoolu rabbialAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

We did send Moses aforetime, with Our Signs, to Pharaoh and his Chiefs: He said, "I am a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds."

43:46

فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ بِآيَاتِنَا إِذَا هُمْ مِنْهَا يَضْحَكُونَ

Transliteration

Falamma jaahum bi-ayatinaitha hum minha yadhakoon

Yusuf Ali

But when he came to them with Our Signs, behold they ridiculed them.

43:47

وَمَا نُرِيهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ إِلَّا هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا ۖ وَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

Transliteration

Wama nureehim min ayatin illahiya akbaru min okhtiha waakhathnahum bilAAathabilaAAallahum yarjiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

We showed them Sign after Sign, each greater than its fellow, and We seized them with Punishment, in order that they might turn (to Us).

43:48

وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَ السَّاحِرُ ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِنْدَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهْتَدُونَ

Transliteration

Waqaloo ya ayyuha asahiruodAAu lana rabbaka bima AAahida AAindaka innanalamuhtadoon

Yusuf Ali

And theysaid, "O thou sorcerer! Invoke thy Lord for us according to His covenant with thee; for we shall truly accept guidance."

43:49

فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنْكُثُونَ

Transliteration

Falamma kashafna AAanhumualAAathaba itha hum yankuthoon

Yusuf Ali

But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word.

43:50

وَنَادَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي قَوْمِهِ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِي مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَٰذِهِ الْأَنْهَارُ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِي ۖ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wanada firAAawnu fee qawmihi qalaya qawmi alaysa lee mulku misra wahathihial-anharu tajree min tahtee afala tubsiroon

Yusuf Ali

And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Does not the dominion of Egypt belong to me, (witness) these streams flowing underneath my (palace)? What! see ye not then?

43:51

أَمْ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي هُوَ مَهِينٌ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُبِينُ

Transliteration

Am ana khayrun min hatha allatheehuwa maheenun wala yakadu yubeen

Yusuf Ali

"Am I not better than this (Moses), who is a contemptible wretch and can scarcely express himself clearly?

43:52

فَلَوْلَا أُلْقِيَ عَلَيْهِ أَسْوِرَةٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مُقْتَرِنِينَ

Transliteration

Falawla olqiya AAalayhi aswiratun minthahabin aw jaa maAAahu almala-ikatumuqtarineen

Yusuf Ali

"Then why are not gold bracelets bestowed on him, or (why) come (not) with him angels accompanying him in procession?"

43:53

فَاسْتَخَفَّ قَوْمَهُ فَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

Transliteration

Fastakhaffa qawmahu faataAAoohuinnahum kanoo qawman fasiqeen

Yusuf Ali

Thus did he make fools of his people, and they obeyed him: truly were they a people rebellious (against Allah).

43:54

فَلَمَّا آسَفُونَا انْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Transliteration

Falamma asafoonaintaqamna minhum faaghraqnahum ajmaAAeen

Yusuf Ali

When at length they provoked Us, We exacted retribution from them, and We drowned them all.

43:55

فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفًا وَمَثَلًا لِلْآخِرِينَ

Transliteration

FajaAAalnahum salafan wamathalan lil-akhireen

Yusuf Ali

And We made them (a people) of the Past and an Example to later ages.

43:56

۞ وَلَمَّا ضُرِبَ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ مَثَلًا إِذَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْهُ يَصِدُّونَ

Transliteration

Walamma duriba ibnu maryamamathalan itha qawmuka minhu yasiddoon

Yusuf Ali

When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)!

43:57

وَقَالُوا أَآلِهَتُنَا خَيْرٌ أَمْ هُوَ ۚ مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلًا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ

Transliteration

Waqaloo aalihatunakhayrun am huwa ma daraboohu laka illajadalan bal hum qawmun khasimoon

Yusuf Ali

And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people.

43:58

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا عَبْدٌ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ مَثَلًا لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

Transliteration

In huwa illa AAabdun anAAamnaAAalayhi wajaAAalnahu mathalan libanee isra-eel

Yusuf Ali

He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel.

43:59

وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ مَلَائِكَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَخْلُفُونَ

Transliteration

Walaw nashao lajaAAalna minkummala-ikatan fee al-ardi yakhlufoon

Yusuf Ali

And if it were Our Will, We could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth.

43:60

وَإِنَّهُ لَعِلْمٌ لِلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمْتَرُنَّ بِهَا وَاتَّبِعُونِ ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu laAAilmun lissaAAatifala tamtarunna biha wattabiAAooni hathasiratun mustaqeem

Yusuf Ali

And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way.

43:61

وَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Wala yasuddannakumu ashshaytanuinnahu lakum AAaduwwun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed.

43:62

وَلَمَّا جَاءَ عِيسَىٰ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ قَالَ قَدْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَلِأُبَيِّنَ لَكُمْ بَعْضَ الَّذِي تَخْتَلِفُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

Transliteration

Walamma jaa AAeesa bilbayyinatiqala qad ji/tukum bilhikmati wali-obayyinalakum baAAda allathee takhtalifoona feehi fattaqooAllaha waateeAAoon

Yusuf Ali

When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me.

43:63

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُ ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ

Transliteration

Inna Allaha huwa rabbee warabbukum faAAbudoohuhatha siratun mustaqeem

Yusuf Ali

"For Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship ye Him: this is a Straight Way."

43:64

فَاخْتَلَفَ الْأَحْزَابُ مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

Fakhtalafa al-ahzabumin baynihim fawaylun lillatheena thalamoomin AAathabi yawmin aleem

Yusuf Ali

But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day!

43:65

هَلْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا السَّاعَةَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Transliteration

Hal yanthuroona illa assaAAataan ta/tiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroon

Yusuf Ali

Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not?

43:66

الْأَخِلَّاءُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration

Al-akhillao yawma-ithin baAAduhumlibaAAdin AAaduwwun illa almuttaqeen

Yusuf Ali

Friends on that day will be foes, one to another,- except the Righteous.

43:67

يَا عِبَادِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ وَلَا أَنْتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ

Transliteration

Ya AAibadi la khawfunAAalaykumu alyawma wala antum tahzanoon

Yusuf Ali

My devotees! no fear shall be on you that Day, nor shall ye grieve,-

43:68

الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration

Allatheena amanoo bi-ayatinawakanoo muslimeen

Yusuf Ali

(Being) those who have believed in Our Signs and bowed (their wills to Ours) in Islam.

43:69

ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ أَنْتُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ تُحْبَرُونَ

Transliteration

Odkhuloo aljannata antum waazwajukumtuhbaroon

Yusuf Ali

Enter ye the Garden, ye and your wives, in (beauty and) rejoicing.

43:70

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِصِحَافٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ ۖ وَفِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِيهِ الْأَنْفُسُ وَتَلَذُّ الْأَعْيُنُ ۖ وَأَنْتُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ

Transliteration

Yutafu AAalayhim bisihafinmin thahabin waakwabin wafeeha matashtaheehi al-anfusu watalaththu al-aAAyunu waantum feehakhalidoon

Yusuf Ali

To them will be passed round, dishes and goblets of gold: there will be there all that the souls could desire, all that their ayes could delight in: and ye shall abide therein (for eye).

43:71

وَتِلْكَ الْجَنَّةُ الَّتِي أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Watilka aljannatu allatee oorithtumoohabima kuntum taAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

Such will be the Garden of which ye are made heirs for your (good) deeds (in life).

43:72

لَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ مِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ

Transliteration

Lakum feeha fakihatunkatheeratun minha ta/kuloon

Yusuf Ali

Ye shall have therein abundance of fruit, from which ye shall have satisfaction.

43:73

إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدُونَ

Transliteration

Inna almujrimeena fee AAathabijahannama khalidoon

Yusuf Ali

The sinners will be in the Punishment of Hell, to dwell therein (for aye):

43:74

لَا يُفَتَّرُ عَنْهُمْ وَهُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ

Transliteration

La yufattaru AAanhum wahum feehimublisoon

Yusuf Ali

Nowise will the (Punishment) be lightened for them, and in despair will they be there overwhelmed.

43:75

وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ كَانُوا هُمُ الظَّالِمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama thalamnahumwalakin kanoo humu aththalimeen

Yusuf Ali

Nowise shall We be unjust to them: but it is they who have been unjust themselves.

43:76

وَنَادَوْا يَا مَالِكُ لِيَقْضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ مَاكِثُونَ

Transliteration

Wanadaw ya maliku liyaqdiAAalayna rabbuka qala innakum makithoon

Yusuf Ali

They will cry: "O Malik! would that thy Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Nay, but ye shall abide!"

43:77

لَقَدْ جِئْنَاكُمْ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَارِهُونَ

Transliteration

Laqad ji/nakum bilhaqqiwalakinna aktharakum lilhaqqi karihoon

Yusuf Ali

Verily We have brought the Truth to you: but most of you have a hatred for Truth.

43:78

أَمْ أَبْرَمُوا أَمْرًا فَإِنَّا مُبْرِمُونَ

Transliteration

Am abramoo amran fa-inna mubrimoon

Yusuf Ali

What! have they settled some plan (among themselves)? But it is We Who settle things.

43:79

أَمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّا لَا نَسْمَعُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَاهُمْ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَرُسُلُنَا لَدَيْهِمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

Transliteration

Am yahsaboona anna lanasmaAAu sirrahum wanajwahum bala warusulunaladayhim yaktuboon

Yusuf Ali

Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record.

43:80

قُلْ إِنْ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدٌ فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْعَابِدِينَ

Transliteration

Qul in kana lirrahmaniwaladun faana awwalu alAAabideen

Yusuf Ali

Say: "If (Allah) Most Gracious had a son, I would be the first to worship."

43:81

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

Transliteration

Subhana rabbi assamawatiwal-ardi rabbi alAAarshi AAamma yasifoon

Yusuf Ali

Glory to the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Lord of the Throne (of Authority)! (He is free) from the things they attribute (to him)!

43:82

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُوا وَيَلْعَبُوا حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ

Transliteration

Fatharhum yakhoodoowayalAAaboo hatta yulaqoo yawmahumu allatheeyooAAadoon

Yusuf Ali

So leave them to babble and play (with vanities) until they meet that Day of theirs, which they have been promised.

43:83

وَهُوَ الَّذِي فِي السَّمَاءِ إِلَٰهٌ وَفِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَٰهٌ ۚ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ

Transliteration

Wahuwa allathee fee assama-iilahun wafee al-ardi ilahun wahuwa alhakeemualAAaleem

Yusuf Ali

It is He Who is Allah in heaven and Allah on earth; and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge.

43:84

وَتَبَارَكَ الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَعِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Transliteration

Watabaraka allathee lahu mulkuassamawati wal-ardi wamabaynahuma waAAindahu AAilmu assaAAatiwa-ilayhi turjaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

And blessed is He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all between them: with Him is the Knowledge of the Hour (of Judgment): and to Him shall ye be brought back.

43:85

وَلَا يَمْلِكُ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ الشَّفَاعَةَ إِلَّا مَنْ شَهِدَ بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Wala yamliku allatheenayadAAoona min doonihi ashshafaAAata illaman shahida bilhaqqi wahum yaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

And those whom they invoke besides Allah have no power of intercession;- only he who bears witness to the Truth, and they know (him).

43:86

وَلَئِنْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

Transliteration

Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqahumlayaqoolunna Allahu faanna yu/fakoon

Yusuf Ali

If thou ask them, who created them, they will certainly say, Allah: How then are they deluded away (from the Truth)?

43:87

وَقِيلِهِ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Transliteration

Waqeelihi ya rabbi inna haola-iqawmun la yu/minoon

Yusuf Ali

(Allah has knowledge) of the (Prophet's) cry, "O my Lord! Truly these are people who will not believe!"

43:88

فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ وَقُلْ سَلَامٌ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Fasfah AAanhum waqulsalamun fasawfa yaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

But turn away from them, and say "Peace!" But soon shall they know!

43:89

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

حم

Transliteration

Ha-meem

Yusuf Ali

Ha-Mim.

44:1

وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

Transliteration

Walkitabi almubeen

Yusuf Ali

By the Book that makes things clear;-

44:2

إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ

Transliteration

Inna anzalnahu fee laylatin mubarakatininna kunna munthireen

Yusuf Ali

We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil).

44:3

فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ

Transliteration

Feeha yufraqu kullu amrin hakeem

Yusuf Ali

In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,

44:4

أَمْرًا مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

Transliteration

Amran min AAindina inna kunnamursileen

Yusuf Ali

By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations),

44:5

رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

Transliteration

Rahmatan min rabbika innahu huwa assameeAAualAAaleem

Yusuf Ali

As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things);

44:6

رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbi assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma in kuntum mooqineen

Yusuf Ali

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith.

44:7

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

La ilaha illa huwa yuhyeewayumeetu rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumu al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.

44:8

بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ

Transliteration

Bal hum fee shakkin yalAAaboon

Yusuf Ali

Yet they play about in doubt.

44:9

فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Fartaqib yawma ta/tee assamaobidukhanin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible,

44:10

يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Yaghsha annasa hathaAAathabun aleem

Yusuf Ali

Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous.

44:11

رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ

Transliteration

Rabbana ikshif AAanna alAAathabainna mu/minoon

Yusuf Ali

(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe!"

44:12

أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Anna lahumu aththikrawaqad jaahum rasoolun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,-

44:13

ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ

Transliteration

Thumma tawallaw AAanhu waqaloomuAAallamun majnoon

Yusuf Ali

Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"

44:14

إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ

Transliteration

Inna kashifoo alAAathabiqaleelan innakum AAa-idoon

Yusuf Ali

We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways).

44:15

يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ

Transliteration

Yawma nabtishu albatshataalkubra inna muntaqimoon

Yusuf Ali

One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution!

44:16

۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ

Transliteration

Walaqad fatanna qablahum qawmafirAAawna wajaahum rasoolun kareem

Yusuf Ali

We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable,

44:17

أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

Transliteration

An addoo ilayya AAibada Allahiinnee lakum rasoolun ameen

Yusuf Ali

Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust;

44:18

وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Waan la taAAloo AAala Allahiinnee ateekum bisultanin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

"And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest.

44:19

وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ

Transliteration

Wa-innee AAuthtu birabbee warabbikuman tarjumoon

Yusuf Ali

"For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.

44:20

وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ

Transliteration

Wa-in lam tu/minoo lee faAAtaziloon

Yusuf Ali

"If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."

44:21

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُجْرِمُونَ

Transliteration

FadaAAa rabbahu anna haola-iqawmun mujrimoon

Yusuf Ali

(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin."

44:22

فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ

Transliteration

Faasri biAAibadee laylan innakummuttabaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued.

44:23

وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ

Transliteration

Watruki albahra rahwaninnahum jundun mughraqoon

Yusuf Ali

"And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned."

44:24

كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Transliteration

Kam tarakoo min jannatin waAAuyoon

Yusuf Ali

How many were the gardens and springs they left behind,

44:25

وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

Transliteration

WazurooAAin wamaqamin kareem

Yusuf Ali

And corn-fields and noble buildings,

44:26

وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ

Transliteration

WanaAAmatin kanoo feeha fakiheen

Yusuf Ali

And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight!

44:27

كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ

Transliteration

Kathalika waawrathnahaqawman akhareen

Yusuf Ali

Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)!

44:28

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ

Transliteration

Fama bakat AAalayhimu assamaowal-ardu wama kanoo munthareen

Yusuf Ali

And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again).

44:29

وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ

Transliteration

Walaqad najjayna banee isra-eelamina alAAathabi almuheen

Yusuf Ali

We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,

44:30

مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

Transliteration

Min firAAawna innahu kana AAaliyanmina almusrifeen

Yusuf Ali

Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.

44:31

وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Walaqadi ikhtarnahum AAalaAAilmin AAala alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,

44:32

وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاءٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Waataynahum mina al-ayatima feehi balaon mubeen

Yusuf Ali

And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial

44:33

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ

Transliteration

Inna haola-i layaqooloon

Yusuf Ali

As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:

44:34

إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِينَ

Transliteration

In hiya illa mawtatuna al-oolawama nahnu bimunshareen

Yusuf Ali

"There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.

44:35

فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

Transliteration

Fa/too bi-aba-ina inkuntum sadiqeen

Yusuf Ali

"Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"

44:36

أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ

Transliteration

Ahum khayrun am qawmu tubbaAAin wallatheenamin qablihim ahlaknahum innahum kanoo mujrimeen

Yusuf Ali

What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.

44:37

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ

Transliteration

Wama khalaqna assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma laAAibeen

Yusuf Ali

We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport:

44:38

مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Ma khalaqnahuma illabilhaqqi walakinna aktharahum layaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand.

44:39

إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Transliteration

Inna yawma alfasli meeqatuhumajmaAAeen

Yusuf Ali

Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,-

44:40

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ

Transliteration

Yawma la yughnee mawlan AAan mawlanshay-an wala hum yunsaroon

Yusuf Ali

The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive,

44:41

إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Illa man rahima Allahuinnahu huwa alAAazeezu arraheem

Yusuf Ali

Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

44:42

إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ

Transliteration

Inna shajarata azzaqqoom

Yusuf Ali

Verily the tree of Zaqqum

44:43

طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ

Transliteration

TaAAamu al-atheem

Yusuf Ali

Will be the food of the Sinful,-

44:44

كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ

Transliteration

Kalmuhli yaghlee fee albutoon

Yusuf Ali

Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides.

44:45

كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ

Transliteration

Kaghalyi alhameem

Yusuf Ali

Like the boiling of scalding water.

44:46

خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ

Transliteration

Khuthoohu faAAtiloohu ilasawa-i aljaheem

Yusuf Ali

(A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire!

44:47

ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ

Transliteration

Thumma subboo fawqa ra/sihi min AAathabialhameem

Yusuf Ali

"Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water,

44:48

ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ

Transliteration

Thuq innaka anta alAAazeezu alkareem

Yusuf Ali

"Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour!

44:49

إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ

Transliteration

Inna hatha ma kuntum bihitamtaroon

Yusuf Ali

"Truly this is what ye used to doubt!"

44:50

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ

Transliteration

Inna almuttaqeena fee maqamin ameen

Yusuf Ali

As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security,

44:51

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

Transliteration

Fee jannatin waAAuyoon

Yusuf Ali

Among Gardens and Springs;

44:52

يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ

Transliteration

Yalbasoona min sundusin wa-istabraqin mutaqabileen

Yusuf Ali

Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other;

44:53

كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

Transliteration

Kathalika wazawwajnahum bihoorinAAeen

Yusuf Ali

So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

44:54

يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ

Transliteration

YadAAoona feeha bikulli fakihatinamineen

Yusuf Ali

There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security;

44:55

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ

Transliteration

La yathooqoona feehaalmawta illa almawtata al-oola wawaqahum AAathabaaljaheem

Yusuf Ali

Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire,-

44:56

فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

Transliteration

Fadlan min rabbika thalikahuwa alfawzu alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement!

44:57

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration

Fa-innama yassarnahu bilisanikalaAAallahum yatathakkaroon

Yusuf Ali

Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed.

44:58

فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُمْ مُرْتَقِبُونَ

Transliteration

Fartaqib innahum murtaqiboon

Yusuf Ali

So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting.

44:59

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Transliteration

Ha-meem

Yusuf Ali

Ha-Mim.

45:1

تَنْزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ

Transliteration

Tanzeelu alkitabi mina AllahialAAazeezi alhakeem

Yusuf Ali

The revelation of the Book is from Allah the Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom.

45:2

إِنَّ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Inna fee assamawati wal-ardilaayatin lilmu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Verily in the heavens and the earth, are Signs for those who believe.

45:3

وَفِي خَلْقِكُمْ وَمَا يَبُثُّ مِنْ دَابَّةٍ آيَاتٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

Transliteration

Wafee khalqikum wama yabuththu min dabbatinayatun liqawmin yooqinoon

Yusuf Ali

And in the creation of yourselves and the fact that animals are scattered (through the earth), are Signs for those of assured Faith.

45:4

وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مِنْ رِزْقٍ فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا وَتَصْرِيفِ الرِّيَاحِ آيَاتٌ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

Transliteration

Wakhtilafi allayli wannahariwama anzala Allahu mina assama-i minrizqin faahya bihi al-arda baAAda mawtihawatasreefi arriyahi ayatunliqawmin yaAAqiloon

Yusuf Ali

And in the alternation of Night and Day, and the fact that Allah sends down Sustenance from the sky, and revives therewith the earth after its death, and in the change of the winds,- are Signs for those that are wise.

45:5

تِلْكَ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ نَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكَ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَ اللَّهِ وَآيَاتِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Transliteration

Tilka ayatu Allahinatlooha AAalayka bilhaqqi fabi-ayyi hadeethinbaAAda Allahi waayatihi yu/minoon

Yusuf Ali

Such are the Signs of Allah, which We rehearse to thee in Truth; then in what exposition will they believe after (rejecting) Allah and His Signs?

45:6

وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

Transliteration

Waylun likulli affakin atheem

Yusuf Ali

Woe to each sinful dealer in Falsehoods:

45:7

يَسْمَعُ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يُصِرُّ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

YasmaAAu ayati Allahitutla AAalayhi thumma yusirru mustakbiran kaan lamyasmaAAha fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleem

Yusuf Ali

He hears the Signs of Allah rehearsed to him, yet is obstinate and lofty, as if he had not heard them: then announce to him a Penalty Grievous!

45:8

وَإِذَا عَلِمَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا شَيْئًا اتَّخَذَهَا هُزُوًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ

Transliteration

Wa-itha AAalima min ayatinashay-an ittakhathaha huzuwan ola-ika lahumAAathabun muheen

Yusuf Ali

And when he learns something of Our Signs, he takes them in jest: for such there will be a humiliating Penalty.

45:9

مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَلَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ مَا كَسَبُوا شَيْئًا وَلَا مَا اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Transliteration

Min wara-ihim jahannamu walayughnee AAanhum ma kasaboo shay-an wala maittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa walahumAAathabun AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

In front of them is Hell: and of no profit to them is anything they may have earned, nor any protectors they may have taken to themselves besides Allah: for them is a tremendous Penalty.

45:10

هَٰذَا هُدًى ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مِنْ رِجْزٍ أَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Hatha hudan wallatheenakafaroo bi-ayati rabbihim lahum AAathabunmin rijzin aleem

Yusuf Ali

This is (true) Guidance and for those who reject the Signs of their Lord, is a grievous Penalty of abomination.

45:11

۞ اللَّهُ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَكُمُ الْبَحْرَ لِتَجْرِيَ الْفُلْكُ فِيهِ بِأَمْرِهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُوا مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

Transliteration

Allahu allathee sakhkharalakumu albahra litajriya alfulku feehi bi-amrihiwalitabtaghoo min fadlihi walaAAallakum tashkuroon

Yusuf Ali

It is Allah Who has subjected the sea to you, that ships may sail through it by His command, that ye may seek of his Bounty, and that ye may be grateful.

45:12

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمْ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration

Wasakhkhara lakum ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi jameeAAan minhu inna fee thalikalaayatin liqawmin yatafakkaroon

Yusuf Ali

And He has subjected to you, as from Him, all that is in the heavens and on earth: Behold, in that are Signs indeed for those who reflect.

45:13

قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَغْفِرُوا لِلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ أَيَّامَ اللَّهِ لِيَجْزِيَ قَوْمًا بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

Transliteration

Qul lillatheena amanooyaghfiroo lillatheena la yarjoona ayyama Allahiliyajziya qawman bima kanoo yaksiboon

Yusuf Ali

Tell those who believe, to forgive those who do not look forward to the Days of Allah: It is for Him to recompense (for good or ill) each People according to what they have earned.

45:14

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلِنَفْسِهِ ۖ وَمَنْ أَسَاءَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ

Transliteration

Man AAamila salihanfalinafsihi waman asaa faAAalayha thumma ilarabbikum turjaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

If any one does a righteous deed, it ensures to the benefit of his own soul; if he does evil, it works against (his own soul). In the end will ye (all) be brought back to your Lord.

45:15

وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ وَرَزَقْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Walaqad atayna banee isra-eelaalkitaba walhukma wannubuwwatawarazaqnahum mina attayyibati wafaddalnahumAAala alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

We did aforetime grant to the Children of Israel the Book the Power of Command, and Prophethood; We gave them, for Sustenance, things good and pure; and We favoured them above the nations.

45:16

وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ بَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ ۖ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فِيمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ

Transliteration

Waataynahum bayyinatinmina al-amri fama ikhtalafoo illa min baAAdi majaahumu alAAilmu baghyan baynahum inna rabbaka yaqdeebaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon

Yusuf Ali

And We granted them Clear Signs in affairs (of Religion): it was only after knowledge had been granted to them that they fell into schisms, through insolent envy among themselves. Verily thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment as to those matters in which they set up differences.

45:17

ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَاكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَمْرِ فَاتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma jaAAalnaka AAalashareeAAatin mina al-amri fattabiAAha walatattabiAA ahwaa allatheena la yaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Then We put thee on the (right) Way of Religion: so follow thou that (Way), and follow not the desires of those who know not.

45:18

إِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يُغْنُوا عَنْكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا ۚ وَإِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۖ وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration

Innahum lan yughnoo AAanka mina Allahishay-an wa-inna aththalimeena baAAduhumawliyao baAAdin wallahu waliyyualmuttaqeen

Yusuf Ali

They will be of no use to thee in the sight of Allah: it is only Wrong-doers (that stand as) protectors, one to another: but Allah is the Protector of the Righteous.

45:19

هَٰذَا بَصَائِرُ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

Transliteration

Hatha basa-iru linnasiwahudan warahmatun liqawmin yooqinoon

Yusuf Ali

These are clear evidences to men and a Guidance and Mercy to those of assured Faith.

45:20

أَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِينَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ أَنْ نَجْعَلَهُمْ كَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَوَاءً مَحْيَاهُمْ وَمَمَاتُهُمْ ۚ سَاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ

Transliteration

Am hasiba allatheena ijtarahooassayyi-ati an najAAalahum kallatheenaamanoo waAAamiloo assalihati sawaanmahyahum wamamatuhum saa ma yahkumoon

Yusuf Ali

What! Do those who seek after evil ways think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe and do righteous deeds,- that equal will be their life and their death? Ill is the judgment that they make.

45:21

وَخَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَلِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Wakhalaqa Allahu assamawatiwal-arda bilhaqqi walitujzakullu nafsin bima kasabat wahum la yuthlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Allah created the heavens and the earth for just ends, and in order that each soul may find the recompense of what it has earned, and none of them be wronged.

45:22

أَفَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ وَأَضَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ سَمْعِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَجَعَلَ عَلَىٰ بَصَرِهِ غِشَاوَةً فَمَنْ يَهْدِيهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ اللَّهِ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration

Afaraayta mani ittakhatha ilahahuhawahu waadallahu Allahu AAalaAAilmin wakhatama AAala samAAihi waqalbihi wajaAAala AAalabasarihi ghishawatan faman yahdeehi min baAAdi Allahiafala tathakkaroon

Yusuf Ali

Then seest thou such a one as takes as his god his own vain desire? Allah has, knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart (and understanding), and put a cover on his sight. Who, then, will guide him after Allah (has withdrawn Guidance)? Will ye not then receive admonition?

45:23

وَقَالُوا مَا هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَا إِلَّا الدَّهْرُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

Transliteration

Waqaloo ma hiya illa hayatunaaddunya namootu wanahya wamayuhlikuna illa addahru wama lahum bithalikamin AAilmin in hum illa yathunnoon

Yusuf Ali

And they say: "What is there but our life in this world? We shall die and we live, and nothing but time can destroy us." But of that they have no knowledge: they merely conjecture:

45:24

وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَاتٍ مَا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا ائْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha tutla AAalayhim ayatunabayyinatin ma kana hujjatahum illaan qaloo i/too bi-aba-ina in kuntum sadiqeen

Yusuf Ali

And when Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them their argument is nothing but this: They say, "Bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"

45:25

قُلِ اللَّهُ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Quli Allahu yuhyeekum thummayumeetukum thumma yajmaAAukum ila yawmi alqiyamatila rayba feehi walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Say: "It is Allah Who gives you life, then gives you death; then He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment about which there is no doubt": But most men do not understand.

45:26

وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَخْسَرُ الْمُبْطِلُونَ

Transliteration

Walillahi mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wayawma taqoomu assaAAatuyawma-ithin yakhsaru almubtiloon

Yusuf Ali

To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and the Day that the Hour of Judgment is established,- that Day will the dealers in Falsehood perish!

45:27

وَتَرَىٰ كُلَّ أُمَّةٍ جَاثِيَةً ۚ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍ تُدْعَىٰ إِلَىٰ كِتَابِهَا الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Watara kulla ommatin jathiyatankullu ommatin tudAAa ila kitabihaalyawma tujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

And thou wilt see every sect bowing the knee: Every sect will be called to its Record: "This Day shall ye be recompensed for all that ye did!

45:28

هَٰذَا كِتَابُنَا يَنْطِقُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا نَسْتَنْسِخُ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Hatha kitabuna yantiquAAalaykum bilhaqqi inna kunnanastansikhu ma kuntum taAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

"This Our Record speaks about you with truth: For We were wont to put on Record all that ye did."

45:29

فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِينُ

Transliteration

Faamma allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati fayudkhiluhumrabbuhum fee rahmatihi thalika huwa alfawzualmubeen

Yusuf Ali

Then, as to those who believed and did righteous deeds, their Lord will admit them to His Mercy that will be the achievement for all to see.

45:30

وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ آيَاتِي تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا مُجْرِمِينَ

Transliteration

Waamma allatheena kafarooafalam takun ayatee tutla AAalaykum fastakbartumwakuntum qawman mujrimeen

Yusuf Ali

But as to those who rejected Allah, (to them will be said): "Were not Our Signs rehearsed to you? But ye were arrogant, and were a people given to sin!

45:31

وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُمْ مَا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ إِنْ نَظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha qeela inna waAAda Allahihaqqun wassaAAatu la rayba feehaqultum ma nadree ma assaAAatu in nathunnuilla thannan wama nahnubimustayqineen

Yusuf Ali

"And when it was said that the promise of Allah was true, and that the Hour- there was no doubt about its (coming), ye used to say, 'We know not what is the hour: we only think it is an idea, and we have no firm assurance.'"

45:32

وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

Transliteration

Wabada lahum sayyi-atu maAAamiloo wahaqa bihim ma kanoo bihiyastahzi-oon

Yusuf Ali

Then will appear to them the evil (fruits) of what they did, and they will be completely encircled by that which they used to mock at!

45:33

وَقِيلَ الْيَوْمَ نَنْسَاكُمْ كَمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَا وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَاصِرِينَ

Transliteration

Waqeela alyawma nansakum kamanaseetum liqaa yawmikum hatha wama/wakumu annaruwama lakum min nasireen

Yusuf Ali

It will also be said: "This Day We will forget you as ye forgot the meeting of this Day of yours! and your abode is the Fire, and no helpers have ye!

45:34

ذَٰلِكُمْ بِأَنَّكُمُ اتَّخَذْتُمْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ هُزُوًا وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا ۚ فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُخْرَجُونَ مِنْهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ

Transliteration

Thalikum bi-annakumu ittakhathtumayati Allahi huzuwan wagharratkumu alhayatuaddunya falyawma la yukhrajoonaminha wala hum yustaAAtaboon

Yusuf Ali

"This, because ye used to take the Signs of Allah in jest, and the life of the world deceived you:" (From) that Day, therefore, they shall not be taken out thence, nor shall they be received into Grace.

45:35

فَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَرَبِّ الْأَرْضِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Falillahi alhamdu rabbi assamawatiwarabbi al-ardi rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

Then Praise be to Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth,- Lord and Cherisher of all the Worlds!

45:36

وَلَهُ الْكِبْرِيَاءُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Transliteration

Walahu alkibriyao fee assamawatiwal-ardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem

To Him be glory throughout the heavens and the earth: and He is Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom!
