Quoting the Holy Qur’an:

“And to rehearse the Qur'an: and if any accept guidance, they do it for the good of their own souls, and if any stray, say: "I am only a Warner".
An-Naml, Chapter #27, Verse #92)

Juzu' 27

The 27th juz’ of the Quran includes parts of seven surahs (chapters) of the holy book, from the middle of the 51st chapter (Az-Zariyat 51:31) and continuing to the end of the 57th chapter (Al-Hadid 57:29). While this juz' contains several complete chapters, the chapters themselves are of medium length, ranging from 29-96 verses each.

Most of these surahs were revealed before the Hijrah, during the time when Muslims were still weak and small in number. At the time, the Prophet Muhammad was preaching to a few small groups of followers. They were ridiculed and harassed by the unbelievers, but they were not yet being severely persecuted for their beliefs. Only the last chapter of this section was revealed after the migration to Madinah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

Transliteration

Qala fama khatbukumayyuha almursaloon

Yusuf Ali

(Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?"

51:31

قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُجْرِمِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo inna orsilna ilaqawmin mujrimeen

Yusuf Ali

They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;-

51:32

لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ طِينٍ

Transliteration

Linursila AAalayhim hijaratanmin teen

Yusuf Ali

"To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone),

51:33

مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ

Transliteration

Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika lilmusrifeen

Yusuf Ali

"Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds."

51:34

فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَنْ كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Faakhrajna man kana feehamina almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there,

51:35

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

Transliteration

Fama wajadna feehaghayra baytin mina almuslimeen

Yusuf Ali

But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house:

51:36

وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَا آيَةً لِلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ

Transliteration

Watarakna feeha ayatanlillatheena yakhafoona alAAathaba al-aleem

Yusuf Ali

And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty.

51:37

وَفِي مُوسَىٰ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Wafee moosa ith arsanahuila firAAawna bisultanin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

And in Moses (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest.

51:38

فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ

Transliteration

Fatawalla biruknihi waqala sahirunaw majnoon

Yusuf Ali

But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!"

51:39

فَأَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Faakhathnahu wajunoodahufanabathnahum fee alyammi wahuwa muleem

Yusuf Ali

So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame.

51:40

وَفِي عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّيحَ الْعَقِيمَ

Transliteration

Wafee AAadin ith arsalnaAAalayhimu arreeha alAAaqeem

Yusuf Ali

And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:

51:41

مَا تَذَرُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَالرَّمِيمِ

Transliteration

Ma tatharu min shay-in atatAAalayhi illa jaAAalat-hu karrameem

Yusuf Ali

It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness.

51:42

وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

Transliteration

Wafee thamooda ith qeela lahumtamattaAAoo hatta heen

Yusuf Ali

And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!"

51:43

فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ

Transliteration

FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathat-humuassaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroon

Yusuf Ali

But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on.

51:44

فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مِنْ قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْتَصِرِينَ

Transliteration

Fama istataAAoo min qiyaminwama kanoo muntasireen

Yusuf Ali

Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves.

51:45

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ

Transliteration

Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanooqawman fasiqeen

Yusuf Ali

So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed.

51:46

وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ

Transliteration

Wassamaa banaynahabi-aydin wa-inna lamoosiAAoon

Yusuf Ali

With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of pace.

51:47

وَالْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ الْمَاهِدُونَ

Transliteration

Wal-arda farashnahafaniAAma almahidoon

Yusuf Ali

And We have spread out the (spacious) earth: How excellently We do spread out!

51:48

وَمِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration

Wamin kulli shay-in khalaqna zawjaynilaAAallakum tathakkaroon

Yusuf Ali

And of every thing We have created pairs: That ye may receive instruction.

51:49

فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Fafirroo ila Allahi inneelakum minhu natheerun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!

51:50

وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ

Transliteration

Wala tajAAaloo maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeen

Yusuf Ali

And make not another an object of worship with Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!

51:51

كَذَٰلِكَ مَا أَتَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا قَالُوا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ

Transliteration

Kathalika ma ata allatheenamin qablihim min rasoolin illa qaloo sahirunaw majnoon

Yusuf Ali

Similarly, no messenger came to the Peoples before them, but they said (of him) in like manner, "A sorcerer, or one possessed"!

51:52

أَتَوَاصَوْا بِهِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

Transliteration

Atawasaw bihi bal hum qawmun taghoon

Yusuf Ali

Is this the legacy they have transmitted, one to another? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds!

51:53

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِمَلُومٍ

Transliteration

Fatawalla AAanhum fama anta bimaloom

Yusuf Ali

So turn away from them: not thine is the blame.

51:54

وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ الذِّكْرَىٰ تَنْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Wathakkir fa-inna aththikratanfaAAu almu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

But teach (thy Message) for teaching benefits the Believers.

51:55

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

Transliteration

Wama khalaqtu aljinna wal-insailla liyaAAbudoon

Yusuf Ali

I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me.

51:56

مَا أُرِيدُ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ رِزْقٍ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ يُطْعِمُونِ

Transliteration

Ma oreedu minhum min rizqin wamaoreedu an yutAAimoon

Yusuf Ali

No Sustenance do I require of them, nor do I require that they should feed Me.

51:57

إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ

Transliteration

Inna Allaha huwa arrazzaquthoo alquwwati almateen

Yusuf Ali

For Allah is He Who gives (all) Sustenance,- Lord of Power,- Steadfast (for ever).

51:58

فَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ذَنُوبًا مِثْلَ ذَنُوبِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ

Transliteration

Fa-inna lillatheena thalamoothanooban mithla thanoobi as-habihimfala yastaAAjiloon

Yusuf Ali

For the Wrong-doers, their portion is like unto the portion of their fellows (of earlier generations): then let them not ask Me to hasten (that portion)!

51:59

فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ يَوْمِهِمُ الَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ

Transliteration

Fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo minyawmihimu allathee yooAAadoon

Yusuf Ali

Woe, then, to the Unbelievers, on account of that Day of theirs which they have been promised!

51:60

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالطُّورِ

Transliteration

Wattoor

Yusuf Ali

By the Mount (of Revelation);

52:1

وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ

Transliteration

Wakitabin mastoor

Yusuf Ali

By a Decree inscribed

52:2

فِي رَقٍّ مَنْشُورٍ

Transliteration

Fee raqqin manshoor

Yusuf Ali

In a Scroll unfolded;

52:3

وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ

Transliteration

Walbayti almaAAmoor

Yusuf Ali

By the much-frequented Fane;

52:4

وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ

Transliteration

Wassaqfi almarfooAA

Yusuf Ali

By the Canopy Raised High;

52:5

وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ

Transliteration

Walbahri almasjoor

Yusuf Ali

And by the Ocean filled with Swell;-

52:6

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ

Transliteration

Inna AAathaba rabbika lawaqiAA

Yusuf Ali

Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;-

52:7

مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍ

Transliteration

Ma lahu min dafiAA

Yusuf Ali

There is none can avert it;-

52:8

يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا

Transliteration

Yawma tamooru assamao mawra

Yusuf Ali

On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion.

52:9

وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا

Transliteration

Wataseeru aljibalu sayra

Yusuf Ali

And the mountains will fly hither and thither.

52:10

فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Transliteration

Fawaylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Yusuf Ali

Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;-

52:11

الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ

Transliteration

Allatheena hum fee khawdinyalAAaboon

Yusuf Ali

That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles.

52:12

يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

Transliteration

Yawma yudaAAAAoona ila narijahannama daAAAAa

Yusuf Ali

That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly.

52:13

هَٰذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

Transliteration

Hathihi annaru allateekuntum biha tukaththiboon

Yusuf Ali

"This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny!

52:14

أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَا أَمْ أَنْتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Transliteration

Afasihrun hatha am antum latubsiroon

Yusuf Ali

"Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see?

52:15

اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Islawha fasbirooaw la tasbiroo sawaon AAalaykum innamatujzawna ma kuntum taAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

"Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds."

52:16

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ

Transliteration

Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatinwanaAAeem

Yusuf Ali

As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,-

52:17

فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ

Transliteration

Fakiheena bima atahumrabbuhum wawaqahum rabbuhum AAathaba aljaheem

Yusuf Ali

Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire.

52:18

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Kuloo washraboo hanee-an bimakuntum taAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

(To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds."

52:19

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ

Transliteration

Muttaki-eena AAala sururin masfoofatinwazawwajnahum bihoorin AAeen

Yusuf Ali

They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.

52:20

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُمْ مِنْ عَمَلِهِمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ

Transliteration

Wallatheena amanoo wattabaAAat-humthurriyyatuhum bi-eemanin alhaqnabihim thurriyyatahum wama alatnahum minAAamalihim min shay-in kullu imri-in bima kasaba raheen

Yusuf Ali

And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.

52:21

وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُمْ بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

Transliteration

Waamdadnahum bifakihatin walahminmimma yashtahoon

Yusuf Ali

And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire.

52:22

يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ

Transliteration

YatanazaAAoona feeha ka/san lalaghwun feeha wala ta/theem

Yusuf Ali

They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill.

52:23

۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَكْنُونٌ

Transliteration

Wayatoofu AAalayhim ghilmanunlahum kaannahum lu/luon maknoon

Yusuf Ali

Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded.

52:24

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

Transliteration

Waaqbala baAAduhum AAala baAAdinyatasaaloon

Yusuf Ali

They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry.

52:25

قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ

Transliteration

Qaloo inna kunna qablufee ahlina mushfiqeen

Yusuf Ali

They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

52:26

فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ

Transliteration

Famanna Allahu AAalayna wawaqanaAAathaba assamoom

Yusuf Ali

"But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind.

52:27

إِنَّا كُنَّا مِنْ قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ

Transliteration

Inna kunna min qablu nadAAoohuinnahu huwa albarru arraheem

Yusuf Ali

"Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!"

52:28

فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ

Transliteration

Fathakkir fama anta biniAAmatirabbika bikahin wala majnoon

Yusuf Ali

Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed.

52:29

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ

Transliteration

Am yaqooloona shaAAirun natarabbasubihi rayba almanoon

Yusuf Ali

Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!"

52:30

قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُمْ مِنَ الْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ

Transliteration

Qul tarabbasoo fa-innee maAAakum minaalmutarabbiseen

Yusuf Ali

Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!"

52:31

أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَامُهُمْ بِهَٰذَا ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

Transliteration

Am ta/muruhum ahlamuhum bihathaam hum qawmun taghoon

Yusuf Ali

Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds?

52:32

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ ۚ بَلْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Transliteration

Am yaqooloona taqawwalahu bal layu/minoon

Yusuf Ali

Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith!

52:33

فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِيثٍ مِثْلِهِ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ

Transliteration

Falya/too bihadeethin mithlihi in kanoosadiqeena

Yusuf Ali

Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth!

52:34

أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ

Transliteration

Am khuliqoo min ghayri shay-in am humu alkhaliqoon

Yusuf Ali

Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators?

52:35

أَمْ خَلَقُوا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۚ بَلْ لَا يُوقِنُونَ

Transliteration

Am khalaqoo assamawatiwal-arda bal la yooqinoon

Yusuf Ali

Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief.

52:36

أَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ الْمُصَيْطِرُونَ

Transliteration

Am AAindahum khaza-inu rabbika amhumu almusaytiroon

Yusuf Ali

Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)?

52:37

أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ

Transliteration

Am lahum sullamun yastamiAAoona feehifalya/ti mustamiAAuhum bisultanin mubeen

Yusuf Ali

Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof.

52:38

أَمْ لَهُ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَكُمُ الْبَنُونَ

Transliteration

Am lahu albanatu walakumu albanoon

Yusuf Ali

Or has He only daughters and ye have sons?

52:39

أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ

Transliteration

Am tas-aluhum ajran fahum min maghraminmuthqaloon

Yusuf Ali

Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?-

52:40

أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ

Transliteration

Am AAindahumu alghaybu fahum yaktuboon

Yusuf Ali

Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down?

52:41

أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ

Transliteration

Am yureedoona kaydan fallatheenakafaroo humu almakeedoon

Yusuf Ali

Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot!

52:42

أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Transliteration

Am lahum ilahun ghayru Allahisubhana Allahi AAamma yushrikoon

Yusuf Ali

Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him!

52:43

وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَرْكُومٌ

Transliteration

Wa-in yaraw kisfan mina assama-isaqitan yaqooloo sahabun markoom

Yusuf Ali

Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

52:44

فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ

Transliteration

Fatharhum hatta yulaqooyawmahumu allathee feehi yusAAaqoon

Yusuf Ali

So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror),-

52:45

يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ

Transliteration

Yawma la yughnee AAanhum kayduhumshay-an wala hum yunsaroon

Yusuf Ali

The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them.

52:46

وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-inna lillatheena thalamooAAathaban doona thalika walakinna aktharahumla yaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this: But most of them understand not.

52:47

وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

Transliteration

Wasbir lihukmi rabbikafa-innaka bi-aAAyunina wasabbih bihamdirabbika heena taqoom

Yusuf Ali

Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth,

52:48

وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَارَ النُّجُومِ

Transliteration

Wamina allayli fasabbihhu wa-idbaraannujoom

Yusuf Ali

And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars!

52:49

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ

Transliteration

Wannajmi itha hawa

Yusuf Ali

By the Star when it goes down,-

53:1

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ

Transliteration

Ma dalla sahibukum wamaghawa

Yusuf Ali

Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled.

53:2

وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ

Transliteration

Wama yantiqu AAani alhawa

Yusuf Ali

Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.

53:3

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَىٰ

Transliteration

In huwa illa wahyun yooha

Yusuf Ali

It is no less than inspiration sent down to him:

53:4

عَلَّمَهُ شَدِيدُ الْقُوَىٰ

Transliteration

AAallamahu shadeedu alquwa

Yusuf Ali

He was taught by one Mighty in Power,

53:5

ذُو مِرَّةٍ فَاسْتَوَىٰ

Transliteration

Thoo mirratin fastawa

Yusuf Ali

Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form);

53:6

وَهُوَ بِالْأُفُقِ الْأَعْلَىٰ

Transliteration

Wahuwa bil-ofuqi al-aAAla

Yusuf Ali

While he was in the highest part of the horizon:

53:7

ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

Thumma dana fatadalla

Yusuf Ali

Then he approached and came closer,

53:8

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Fakana qaba qawsayni aw adna

Yusuf Ali

And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer;

53:9

فَأَوْحَىٰ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ مَا أَوْحَىٰ

Transliteration

Faawha ila AAabdihi maawha

Yusuf Ali

So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.

53:10

مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰ

Transliteration

Ma kathaba alfu-adu maraa

Yusuf Ali

The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.

53:11

أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ

Transliteration

Afatumaroonahu AAala mayara

Yusuf Ali

Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?

53:12

وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Walaqad raahu nazlatan okhra

Yusuf Ali

For indeed he saw him at a second descent,

53:13

عِنْدَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَىٰ

Transliteration

AAinda sidrati almuntaha

Yusuf Ali

Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:

53:14

عِنْدَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَىٰ

Transliteration

AAindaha jannatu alma/wa

Yusuf Ali

Near it is the Garden of Abode.

53:15

إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ

Transliteration

Ith yaghsha assidratama yaghsha

Yusuf Ali

Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)

53:16

مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ

Transliteration

Ma zagha albasaru wamatagha

Yusuf Ali

(His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!

53:17

لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Laqad raa min ayatirabbihi alkubra

Yusuf Ali

For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!

53:18

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّىٰ

Transliteration

Afaraaytumu allata walAAuzza

Yusuf Ali

Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza,

53:19

وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Wamanata aththalithataal-okhra

Yusuf Ali

And another, the third (goddess), Manat?

53:20

أَلَكُمُ الذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ الْأُنْثَىٰ

Transliteration

Alakumu aththakaru walahual-ontha

Yusuf Ali

What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female?

53:21

تِلْكَ إِذًا قِسْمَةٌ ضِيزَىٰ

Transliteration

Tilka ithan qismatun deeza

Yusuf Ali

Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair!

53:22

إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا أَسْمَاءٌ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمْ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۚ إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى الْأَنْفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنْ رَبِّهِمُ الْهُدَىٰ

Transliteration

In hiya illa asmaonsammaytumooha antum waabaokum maanzala Allahu biha min sultanin inyattabiAAoona illa aththanna wamatahwa al-anfusu walaqad jaahum min rabbihimu alhuda

Yusuf Ali

These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!

53:23

أَمْ لِلْإِنْسَانِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ

Transliteration

Am lil-insani ma tamanna

Yusuf Ali

Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after?

53:24

فَلِلَّهِ الْآخِرَةُ وَالْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Falillahi al-akhiratu wal-oola

Yusuf Ali

But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong.

53:25

۞ وَكَمْ مِنْ مَلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ لَا تُغْنِي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ أَنْ يَأْذَنَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَرْضَىٰ

Transliteration

Wakam min malakin fee assamawatila tughnee shafaAAatuhum shay-an illa minbaAAdi an ya/thana Allahu liman yashao wayarda

Yusuf Ali

How many-so-ever be the angels in the heavens, their intercession will avail nothing except after Allah has given leave for whom He pleases and that he is acceptable to Him.

53:26

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ الْأُنْثَىٰ

Transliteration

Inna allatheena la yu/minoonabil-akhirati layusammoona almala-ikatatasmiyata al-ontha

Yusuf Ali

Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names.

53:27

وَمَا لَهُمْ بِهِ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ الظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ شَيْئًا

Transliteration

Wama lahum bihi min AAilmin inyattabiAAoona illa aththanna wa-innaaththanna la yughnee mina alhaqqishay-a

Yusuf Ali

But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth.

53:28

فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْ مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ عَنْ ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا

Transliteration

FaaAArid AAan man tawalla AAanthikrina walam yurid illa alhayataaddunya

Yusuf Ali

Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.

53:29

ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ

Transliteration

Thalika mablaghuhum mina alAAilmiinna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu biman dalla AAan sabeelihiwahuwa aAAlamu bimani ihtada

Yusuf Ali

That is as far as knowledge will reach them. Verily thy Lord knoweth best those who stray from His Path, and He knoweth best those who receive guidance.

53:30

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسَاءُوا بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَيَجْزِيَ الَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا بِالْحُسْنَى

Transliteration

Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi liyajziya allatheena asaoobima AAamiloo wayajziya allatheena ahsanoobilhusna

Yusuf Ali

Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.

53:31

الَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَائِرَ الْإِثْمِ وَالْفَوَاحِشَ إِلَّا اللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَاسِعُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنْشَأَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنْتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ

Transliteration

Allatheena yajtaniboona kaba-iraal-ithmi walfawahisha illa allamama innarabbaka wasiAAu almaghfirati huwa aAAlamu bikum ithanshaakum mina al-ardi wa-ith antum ajinnatun feebutooni ommahatikum fala tuzakkoo anfusakumhuwa aAAlamu bimani ittaqa

Yusuf Ali

Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, only (falling into) small faults,- verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.

53:32

أَفَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

Afaraayta allathee tawalla

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou one who turns back,

53:33

وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًا وَأَكْدَىٰ

Transliteration

WaaAAta qaleelan waakda

Yusuf Ali

Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)?

53:34

أَعِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ الْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰ

Transliteration

aAAindahu AAilmu alghaybi fahuwa yara

Yusuf Ali

What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see?

53:35

أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِي صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ

Transliteration

Am lam yunabba/ bima fee suhufimoosa

Yusuf Ali

Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses-

53:36

وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّىٰ

Transliteration

Wa-ibraheema allathee waffa

Yusuf Ali

And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?-

53:37

أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Alla taziru waziratun wizraokhra

Yusuf Ali

Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;

53:38

وَأَنْ لَيْسَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ

Transliteration

Waan laysa lil-insani illa masaAAa

Yusuf Ali

That man can have nothing but what he strives for;

53:39

وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ

Transliteration

Waanna saAAyahu sawfa yura

Yusuf Ali

That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight:

53:40

ثُمَّ يُجْزَاهُ الْجَزَاءَ الْأَوْفَىٰ

Transliteration

Thumma yujzahu aljazaa al-awfa

Yusuf Ali

Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete;

53:41

وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الْمُنْتَهَىٰ

Transliteration

Waanna ila rabbika almuntaha

Yusuf Ali

That to thy Lord is the final Goal;

53:42

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ

Transliteration

Waannahu huwa adhaka waabka

Yusuf Ali

That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears;

53:43

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا

Transliteration

Waannahu huwa amata waahya

Yusuf Ali

That it is He Who granteth Death and Life;

53:44

وَأَنَّهُ خَلَقَ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ

Transliteration

Waannahu khalaqa azzawjayni aththakarawal-ontha

Yusuf Ali

That He did create in pairs,- male and female,

53:45

مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Min nutfatin itha tumna

Yusuf Ali

From a seed when lodged (in its place);

53:46

وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُخْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Waanna AAalayhi annash-ata al-okhra

Yusuf Ali

That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead);

53:47

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Waannahu huwa aghna waaqna

Yusuf Ali

That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction;

53:48

وَأَنَّهُ هُوَ رَبُّ الشِّعْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Waannahu huwa rabbu ashshiAAra

Yusuf Ali

That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star);

53:49

وَأَنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا الْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Waannahu ahlaka AAadan al-oola

Yusuf Ali

And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people),

53:50

وَثَمُودَ فَمَا أَبْقَىٰ

Transliteration

Wathamooda fama abqa

Yusuf Ali

And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.

53:51

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ

Transliteration

Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoohum athlama waatgha

Yusuf Ali

And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors,

53:52

وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ

Transliteration

Walmu/tafikata ahwa

Yusuf Ali

And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah).

53:53

فَغَشَّاهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ

Transliteration

Faghashshaha ma ghashsha

Yusuf Ali

So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up.

53:54

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbika tatamara

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about?

53:55

هَٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِنَ النُّذُرِ الْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Hatha natheerun mina annuthurial-oola

Yusuf Ali

This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old!

53:56

أَزِفَتِ الْآزِفَةُ

Transliteration

Azifati al-azifat

Yusuf Ali

The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh:

53:57

لَيْسَ لَهَا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ

Transliteration

Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifat

Yusuf Ali

No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare.

53:58

أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ

Transliteration

Afamin hatha alhadeethitaAAjaboon

Yusuf Ali

Do ye then wonder at this recital?

53:59

وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ

Transliteration

Watadhakoona wala tabkoon

Yusuf Ali

And will ye laugh and not weep,-

53:60

وَأَنْتُمْ سَامِدُونَ

Transliteration

Waantum samidoon

Yusuf Ali

Wasting your time in vanities?

53:61

فَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُوا ۩

Transliteration

Fasjudoo lillahi waAAbudoo

Yusuf Ali

But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)!

53:62

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ

Transliteration

Iqtarabati assaAAatu wanshaqqaalqamar

Yusuf Ali

The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder.

54:1

وَإِنْ يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِرٌّ

Transliteration

Wa-in yaraw ayatan yuAAridoowayaqooloo sihrun mustamirr

Yusuf Ali

But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic."

54:2

وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُسْتَقِرٌّ

Transliteration

Wakaththaboo wattabaAAoo ahwaahumwakullu amrin mustaqirr

Yusuf Ali

They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time.

54:3

وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ

Transliteration

Walaqad jaahum mina al-anba-i mafeehi muzdajar

Yusuf Ali

There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them),

54:4

حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ

Transliteration

Hikmatun balighatun famatughnee annuthur

Yusuf Ali

Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not.

54:5

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُكُرٍ

Transliteration

Fatawalla AAanhum yawma yadAAu addaAAiila shay-in nukur

Yusuf Ali

Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair,

54:6

خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُنْتَشِرٌ

Transliteration

KhushshaAAan absaruhum yakhrujoonamina al-ajdathi kaannahum jaradun muntashir

Yusuf Ali

They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad,

54:7

مُهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ

Transliteration

MuhtiAAeena ila addaAAiyaqoolu alkafiroona hatha yawmun AAasir

Yusuf Ali

Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say.

54:8

۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ

Transliteration

Kaththabat qablahum qawmu noohinfakaththaboo AAabdana waqaloo majnoonun wazdujir

Yusuf Ali

Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out.

54:9

فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانْتَصِرْ

Transliteration

FadaAAa rabbahu annee maghloobun fantasir

Yusuf Ali

Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!"

54:10

فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُنْهَمِرٍ

Transliteration

Fafatahna abwaba assama-ibima-in munhamir

Yusuf Ali

So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth.

54:11

وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ

Transliteration

Wafajjarna al-arda AAuyoonanfaltaqa almao AAala amrin qad qudir

Yusuf Ali

And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed.

54:12

وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ

Transliteration

Wahamalnahu AAala thatialwahin wadusur

Yusuf Ali

But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre:

54:13

تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِمَنْ كَانَ كُفِرَ

Transliteration

Tajree bi-aAAyunina jazaanliman kana kufir

Yusuf Ali

She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)!

54:14

وَلَقَدْ تَرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

Transliteration

Walaqad taraknaha ayatanfahal min muddakir

Yusuf Ali

And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition?

54:15

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Transliteration

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthur

Yusuf Ali

But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning?

54:16

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

Transliteration

Walaqad yassarna alqur-ana liththikrifahal min muddakir

Yusuf Ali

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

54:17

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Transliteration

Kaththabat AAadun fakayfa kanaAAathabee wanuthur

Yusuf Ali

The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning?

54:18

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُسْتَمِرٍّ

Transliteration

Inna arsalna AAalayhim reehansarsaran fee yawmi nahsin mustamirr

Yusuf Ali

For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster,

54:19

تَنْزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُنْقَعِرٍ

Transliteration

TanziAAu annasa kaannahumaAAjazu nakhlin munqaAAir

Yusuf Ali

Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground).

54:20

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Transliteration

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthur

Yusuf Ali

Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning!

54:21

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

Transliteration

Walaqad yassarna alqur-ana liththikrifahal min muddakir

Yusuf Ali

But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

54:22

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ

Transliteration

Kaththabat thamoodu binnuthur

Yusuf Ali

The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners.

54:23

فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِنَّا وَاحِدًا نَتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ

Transliteration

Faqaloo abasharan minna wahidannattabiAAuhu inna ithan lafee dalalinwasuAAur

Yusuf Ali

For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad!

54:24

أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ

Transliteration

Aolqiya aththikru AAalayhimin baynina bal huwa kaththabun ashir

Yusuf Ali

"Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!"

54:25

سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ

Transliteration

SayaAAlamoona ghadan mani alkaththabual-ashir

Yusuf Ali

Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one!

54:26

إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ

Transliteration

Inna mursiloo annaqatifitnatan lahum fartaqibhum wastabir

Yusuf Ali

For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience!

54:27

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُحْتَضَرٌ

Transliteration

Wanabbi/hum anna almaa qismatunbaynahum kullu shirbin muhtadar

Yusuf Ali

And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns).

54:28

فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ

Transliteration

Fanadaw sahibahum fataAAatafaAAaqar

Yusuf Ali

But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her).

54:29

فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Transliteration

Fakayfa kana AAathabee wanuthur

Yusuf Ali

Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning!

54:30

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ

Transliteration

Inna arsalna AAalayhim sayhatanwahidatan fakanoo kahasheemi almuhtathir

Yusuf Ali

For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle.

54:31

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

Transliteration

Walaqad yassarna alqur-ana liththikrifahal min muddakir

Yusuf Ali

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

54:32

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ

Transliteration

Kaththabat qawmu lootin binnuthur

Yusuf Ali

The people of Lut rejected (his) warning.

54:33

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَجَّيْنَاهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ

Transliteration

Inna arsalna AAalayhim hasibanilla ala lootin najjaynahum bisahar

Yusuf Ali

We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,-

54:34

نِعْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ شَكَرَ

Transliteration

NiAAmatan min AAindina kathalikanajzee man shakar

Yusuf Ali

As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks.

54:35

وَلَقَدْ أَنْذَرَهُمْ بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ

Transliteration

Walaqad antharahum batshatanafatamaraw binnuthur

Yusuf Ali

And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning.

54:36

وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَنْ ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Transliteration

Walaqad rawadoohu AAan dayfihifatamasna aAAyunahum fathooqoo AAathabeewanuthur

Yusuf Ali

And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning."

54:37

وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُمْ بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُسْتَقِرٌّ

Transliteration

Walaqad sabbahahum bukratanAAathabun mustaqirr

Yusuf Ali

Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them:

54:38

فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ

Transliteration

Fathooqoo AAathabee wanuthur

Yusuf Ali

"Sotaste ye My Wrath and My Warning."

54:39

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

Transliteration

Walaqad yassarna alqur-ana liththikrifahal min muddakir

Yusuf Ali

And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

54:40

وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ

Transliteration

Walaqad jaa ala firAAawna annuthur

Yusuf Ali

To the People of Pharaoh, too, aforetime, came Warners (from Allah).

54:41

كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ

Transliteration

Kaththaboo bi-ayatinakulliha faakhathnahum akhthaAAazeezin muqtadir

Yusuf Ali

The (people) rejected all Our Signs; but We seized them with such Penalty (as comes) from One Exalted in Power, able to carry out His Will.

54:42

أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أُولَٰئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُمْ بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ

Transliteration

Akuffarukum khayrun min ola-ikumam lakum baraatun fee azzubur

Yusuf Ali

Are your Unbelievers, (O Quraish), better than they? Or have ye an immunity in the Sacred Books?

54:43

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُنْتَصِرٌ

Transliteration

Am yaqooloona nahnu jameeAAun muntasir

Yusuf Ali

Or do they say: "We acting together can defend ourselves"?

54:44

سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ

Transliteration

Sayuhzamu aljamAAu wayuwalloona addubur

Yusuf Ali

Soon will their multitude be put to flight, and they will show their backs.

54:45

بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ

Transliteration

Bali assaAAatu mawAAiduhum wassaAAatuadha waamar

Yusuf Ali

Nay, the Hour (of Judgment) is the time promised them (for their full recompense): And that Hour will be most grievous and most bitter.

54:46

إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ

Transliteration

Inna almujrimeena fee dalalinwasuAAur

Yusuf Ali

Truly those in sin are the ones straying in mind, and mad.

54:47

يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ

Transliteration

Yawma yushaboona fee annariAAala wujoohihim thooqoo massa saqar

Yusuf Ali

The Day they will be dragged through the Fire on their faces, (they will hear:) "Taste ye the touch of Hell!"

54:48

إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ

Transliteration

Inna kulla shay-in khalaqnahubiqadar

Yusuf Ali

Verily, all things have We created in proportion and measure.

54:49

وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ

Transliteration

Wama amruna illa wahidatunkalamhin bilbasar

Yusuf Ali

And Our Command is but a single (Act),- like the twinkling of an eye.

54:50

وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ

Transliteration

Walaqad ahlakna ashyaAAakumfahal min muddakir

Yusuf Ali

And (oft) in the past, have We destroyed gangs like unto you: then is there any that will receive admonition?

54:51

وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ فَعَلُوهُ فِي الزُّبُرِ

Transliteration

Wakullu shay-in faAAaloohu fee azzubur

Yusuf Ali

All that they do is noted in (their) Books (of Deeds):

54:52

وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُسْتَطَرٌ

Transliteration

Wakullu sagheerin wakabeerin mustatar

Yusuf Ali

Every matter, small and great, is on record.

54:53

إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَهَرٍ

Transliteration

Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatinwanahar

Yusuf Ali

As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers,

54:54

فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِيكٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ

Transliteration

Fee maqAAadi sidqin AAinda maleekinmuqtadir

Yusuf Ali

In an Assembly of Truth, in the Presence of a Sovereign Omnipotent.

54:55

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

الرَّحْمَٰنُ

Transliteration

Arrahman

Yusuf Ali

(Allah) Most Gracious!

55:1

عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ

Transliteration

AAallama alqur-an

Yusuf Ali

It is He Who has taught the Qur'an.

55:2

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ

Transliteration

Khalaqa al-insan

Yusuf Ali

He has created man:

55:3

عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ

Transliteration

AAallamahu albayan

Yusuf Ali

He has taught him speech (and intelligence).

55:4

الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ

Transliteration

Ashshamsu walqamaru bihusban

Yusuf Ali

The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed;

55:5

وَالنَّجْمُ وَالشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ

Transliteration

Wannajmu washshajaru yasjudan

Yusuf Ali

And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration.

55:6

وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ

Transliteration

Wassamaa rafaAAahawawadaAAa almeezan

Yusuf Ali

And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice),

55:7

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ

Transliteration

Alla tatghaw fee almeezan

Yusuf Ali

In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance.

55:8

وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ

Transliteration

Waaqeemoo alwazna bilqisti walatukhsiroo almeezan

Yusuf Ali

So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance.

55:9

وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ

Transliteration

Wal-arda wadaAAahalil-anam

Yusuf Ali

It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures:

55:10

فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الْأَكْمَامِ

Transliteration

Feeha fakihatun wannakhluthatu al-akmam

Yusuf Ali

Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates);

55:11

وَالْحَبُّ ذُو الْعَصْفِ وَالرَّيْحَانُ

Transliteration

Walhabbu thoo alAAasfiwarrayhan

Yusuf Ali

Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants.

55:12

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:13

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ كَالْفَخَّارِ

Transliteration

Khalaqa al-insana min salsalinkalfakhkhar

Yusuf Ali

He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery,

55:14

وَخَلَقَ الْجَانَّ مِنْ مَارِجٍ مِنْ نَارٍ

Transliteration

Wakhalaqa aljanna min marijinmin nar

Yusuf Ali

And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke:

55:15

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:16

رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ الْمَغْرِبَيْنِ

Transliteration

Rabbu almashriqayni warabbu almaghribayn

Yusuf Ali

(He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests:

55:17

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:18

مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ

Transliteration

Maraja albahrayni yaltaqiyan

Yusuf Ali

He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together:

55:19

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَا يَبْغِيَانِ

Transliteration

Baynahuma barzakhun la yabghiyan

Yusuf Ali

Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress:

55:20

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:21

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا اللُّؤْلُؤُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ

Transliteration

Yakhruju minhuma allu/luo walmarjan

Yusuf Ali

Out of them come Pearls and Coral:

55:22

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththibani

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:23

وَلَهُ الْجَوَارِ الْمُنْشَآتُ فِي الْبَحْرِ كَالْأَعْلَامِ

Transliteration

Walahu aljawari almunshaatufee albahri kal-aAAlam

Yusuf Ali

And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains:

55:24

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:25

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ

Transliteration

Kullu man AAalayha fan

Yusuf Ali

All that is on earth will perish:

55:26

وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

Transliteration

Wayabqa wajhu rabbika thooaljalali wal-ikram

Yusuf Ali

But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour.

55:27

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:28

يَسْأَلُهُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأْنٍ

Transliteration

Yas-aluhu man fee assamawatiwal-ardi kulla yawmin huwa fee sha/n

Yusuf Ali

Of Him seeks (its need) every creature in the heavens and on earth: every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine)!

55:29

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:30

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ الثَّقَلَانِ

Transliteration

Sanafrughu lakum ayyuha aththaqalan

Yusuf Ali

Soon shall We settle your affairs, O both ye worlds!

55:31

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:32

يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ تَنْفُذُوا مِنْ أَقْطَارِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ فَانْفُذُوا ۚ لَا تَنْفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَانٍ

Transliteration

Ya maAAshara aljinni wal-insiini istataAAtum an tanfuthoo min aqtari assamawatiwal-ardi fanfuthoo la tanfuthoonailla bisultan

Yusuf Ali

O ye assembly of Jinns and men! If it be ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! not without authority shall ye be able to pass!

55:33

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:34

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِنْ نَارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنْتَصِرَانِ

Transliteration

Yursalu AAalaykuma shuwathunmin narin wanuhasun fala tantasiran

Yusuf Ali

On you will be sent (O ye evil ones twain!) a flame of fire (to burn) and a smoke (to choke): no defence will ye have:

55:35

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:36

فَإِذَا انْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَالدِّهَانِ

Transliteration

Fa-itha inshaqqati assamaofakanat wardatan kaddihan

Yusuf Ali

When the sky is rent asunder, and it becomes red like ointment:

55:37

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:38

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُسْأَلُ عَنْ ذَنْبِهِ إِنْسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ

Transliteration

Fayawma-ithin la yus-alu AAan thanbihiinsun wala jan

Yusuf Ali

On that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin.

55:39

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:40

يُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَاهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِالنَّوَاصِي وَالْأَقْدَامِ

Transliteration

YuAArafu almujrimoona biseemahumfayu/khathu binnawasee wal-aqdam

Yusuf Ali

(For) the sinners will be known by their marks: and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.

55:41

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:42

هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

Transliteration

Hathihi jahannamu allatee yukaththibubiha almujrimoon

Yusuf Ali

This is the Hell which the Sinners deny:

55:43

يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ آنٍ

Transliteration

Yatoofoona baynaha wabayna hameeminan

Yusuf Ali

In its midst and in the midst of boiling hot water will they wander round!

55:44

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:45

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتَانِ

Transliteration

Waliman khafa maqama rabbihijannatan

Yusuf Ali

But for such as fear the time when they will stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will be two Gardens-

55:46

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:47

ذَوَاتَا أَفْنَانٍ

Transliteration

Thawata afnan

Yusuf Ali

Containing all kinds (of trees anddelights);-

55:48

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:49

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ

Transliteration

Feehima AAaynani tajriyan

Yusuf Ali

In them (each) will be two Springs flowing (free);

55:50

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:51

فِيهِمَا مِنْ كُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ

Transliteration

Feehima min kulli fakihatinzawjan

Yusuf Ali

In them will be Fruits of every kind, two and two.

55:52

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:53

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍ بَطَائِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى الْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ

Transliteration

Muttaki-eena AAala furushin bata-inuhamin istabraqin wajana aljannatayni dan

Yusuf Ali

They will recline on Carpets, whose inner linings will be of rich brocade: the Fruit of the Gardens will be near (and easy of reach).

55:54

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:55

فِيهِنَّ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ

Transliteration

Feehinna qasiratu attarfilam yatmithhunna insun qablahum wala jan

Yusuf Ali

In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;-

55:56

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:57

كَأَنَّهُنَّ الْيَاقُوتُ وَالْمَرْجَانُ

Transliteration

Kaannahunna alyaqootu walmarjan

Yusuf Ali

Like unto Rubies and coral.

55:58

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:59

هَلْ جَزَاءُ الْإِحْسَانِ إِلَّا الْإِحْسَانُ

Transliteration

Hal jazao al-ihsani illaal-ihsan

Yusuf Ali

Is there any Reward for Good - other than Good?

55:60

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:61

وَمِنْ دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ

Transliteration

Wamin doonihima jannatan

Yusuf Ali

And besides these two, there are two other Gardens,-

55:62

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:63

مُدْهَامَّتَانِ

Transliteration

Mudhammatan

Yusuf Ali

Dark-green in colour (from plentiful watering).

55:64

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:65

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ

Transliteration

Feehima AAaynani naddakhatan

Yusuf Ali

In them (each) will be two Springs pouring forth water in continuous abundance:

55:66

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:67

فِيهِمَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ

Transliteration

Feehima fakihatun wanakhlunwarumman

Yusuf Ali

In them will be Fruits, and dates and pomegranates:

55:68

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:69

فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَاتٌ حِسَانٌ

Transliteration

Feehinna khayratun hisan

Yusuf Ali

In them will be fair (Companions), good, beautiful;-

55:70

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:71

حُورٌ مَقْصُورَاتٌ فِي الْخِيَامِ

Transliteration

Hoorun maqsooratun feealkhiyam

Yusuf Ali

Companions restrained (as to their glances), in (goodly) pavilions;-

55:72

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:73

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ

Transliteration

Lam yatmithhunna insun qablahum walajan

Yusuf Ali

Whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;-

55:74

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?-

55:75

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ

Transliteration

Muttaki-eena AAala rafrafin khudrinwaAAabqariyyin hisan

Yusuf Ali

Reclining on green Cushions and rich Carpets of beauty.

55:76

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Transliteration

Fabi-ayyi ala-i rabbikumatukaththiban

Yusuf Ali

Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?

55:77

تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ

Transliteration

Tabaraka ismu rabbika theealjalali wal-ikram

Yusuf Ali

Blessed be the name of thy Lord, full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour.

55:78

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ

Transliteration

Itha waqaAAati alwaqiAAat

Yusuf Ali

When the Event inevitable cometh to pass,

56:1

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ

Transliteration

Laysa liwaqAAatiha kathiba

Yusuf Ali

Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming.

56:2

خَافِضَةٌ رَافِعَةٌ

Transliteration

Khafidatun rafiAAa

Yusuf Ali

(Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt;

56:3

إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا

Transliteration

Itha rujjati al-ardu rajja

Yusuf Ali

When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,

56:4

وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا

Transliteration

Wabussati aljibalu bassa

Yusuf Ali

And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms,

56:5

فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُنْبَثًّا

Transliteration

Fakanat habaan munbaththa

Yusuf Ali

Becoming dust scattered abroad,

56:6

وَكُنْتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً

Transliteration

Wakuntum azwajan thalatha

Yusuf Ali

And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.

56:7

فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ

Transliteration

Faas-habu almaymanati maas-habu almaymanat

Yusuf Ali

Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

56:8

وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ

Transliteration

Waas-habu almash-amati maas-habu almash-amat

Yusuf Ali

And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

56:9

وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ

Transliteration

Wassabiqoona assabiqoon

Yusuf Ali

And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).

56:10

أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

Transliteration

Ola-ika almuqarraboon

Yusuf Ali

These will be those Nearest to Allah:

56:11

فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ

Transliteration

Fee jannati annaAAeem

Yusuf Ali

In Gardens of Bliss:

56:12

ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Thullatun mina al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

A number of people from those of old,

56:13

وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ

Transliteration

Waqaleelun mina al-akhireena

Yusuf Ali

And a few from those of later times.

56:14

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَوْضُونَةٍ

Transliteration

AAala sururin mawdoona

Yusuf Ali

(They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones),

56:15

مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ

Transliteration

Muttaki-eena AAalayha mutaqabileen

Yusuf Ali

Reclining on them, facing each other.

56:16

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ

Transliteration

Yatoofu AAalayhim wildanunmukhalladoon

Yusuf Ali

Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),

56:17

بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ

Transliteration

Bi-akwabin waabareeqa waka/sinmin maAAeen

Yusuf Ali

With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:

56:18

لَا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُونَ

Transliteration

La yusaddaAAoona AAanhawala yunzifoon

Yusuf Ali

No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:

56:19

وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ

Transliteration

Wafakihatin mimmayatakhayyaroon

Yusuf Ali

And with fruits, any that they may select:

56:20

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

Transliteration

Walahmi tayrin mimmayashtahoon

Yusuf Ali

And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.

56:21

وَحُورٌ عِينٌ

Transliteration

Wahoorun AAeen

Yusuf Ali

And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-

56:22

كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ

Transliteration

Kaamthali allu/lui almaknoon

Yusuf Ali

Like unto Pearls well-guarded.

56:23

جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration

Jazaan bima kanooyaAAmaloon

Yusuf Ali

A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).

56:24

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا

Transliteration

La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanwala ta/theema

Yusuf Ali

Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-

56:25

إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا

Transliteration

Illa qeelan salaman salama

Yusuf Ali

Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".

56:26

وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ

Transliteration

Waas-habu alyameeni maas-habu alyameen

Yusuf Ali

The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?

56:27

فِي سِدْرٍ مَخْضُودٍ

Transliteration

Fee sidrin makhdood

Yusuf Ali

(They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,

56:28

وَطَلْحٍ مَنْضُودٍ

Transliteration

Watalhin mandood

Yusuf Ali

Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,-

56:29

وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ

Transliteration

Wathillin mamdood

Yusuf Ali

In shade long-extended,

56:30

وَمَاءٍ مَسْكُوبٍ

Transliteration

Wama-in maskoob

Yusuf Ali

By water flowing constantly,

56:31

وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ

Transliteration

Wafakihatin katheera

Yusuf Ali

And fruit in abundance.

56:32

لَا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ

Transliteration

La maqtooAAatin walamamnooAAa

Yusuf Ali

Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden,

56:33

وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ

Transliteration

Wafurushin marfooAAa

Yusuf Ali

And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high.

56:34

إِنَّا أَنْشَأْنَاهُنَّ إِنْشَاءً

Transliteration

Inna ansha/nahunna inshaa

Yusuf Ali

We have created (their Companions) of special creation.

56:35

فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا

Transliteration

FajaAAalnahunna abkara

Yusuf Ali

And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), -

56:36

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا

Transliteration

AAuruban atraba

Yusuf Ali

Beloved (by nature), equal in age,-

56:37

لِأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ

Transliteration

Li-as-habi alyameen

Yusuf Ali

For the Companions of the Right Hand.

56:38

ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Thullatun mina al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

A (goodly) number from those of old,

56:39

وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ

Transliteration

Wathullatun mina al-akhireen

Yusuf Ali

And a (goodly) number from those of later times.

56:40

وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ

Transliteration

Waas-habu ashshimalima as-habu ashshimal

Yusuf Ali

The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?

56:41

فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ

Transliteration

Fee samoomin wahameem

Yusuf Ali

(They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water,

56:42

وَظِلٍّ مِنْ يَحْمُومٍ

Transliteration

Wathillin min yahmoom

Yusuf Ali

And in the shades of Black Smoke:

56:43

لَا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ

Transliteration

La baridin wala kareem

Yusuf Ali

Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please:

56:44

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ

Transliteration

Innahum kanoo qabla thalikamutrafeen

Yusuf Ali

For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury),

56:45

وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Wakanoo yusirroona AAalaalhinthi alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme!

56:46

وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

Transliteration

Wakanoo yaqooloona a-itha mitnawakunna turaban waAAithamana-inna lamabAAoothoon

Yusuf Ali

And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?-

56:47

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ

Transliteration

Awa abaona al-awwaloon

Yusuf Ali

"(We) and our fathers of old?"

56:48

قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ

Transliteration

Qul inna al-awwaleena wal-akhireen

Yusuf Ali

Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times,

56:49

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ

Transliteration

LamajmooAAoona ila meeqatiyawmin maAAloom

Yusuf Ali

"All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known.

56:50

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma innakum ayyuha addalloonaalmukaththiboon

Yusuf Ali

"Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!-

56:51

لَآكِلُونَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِنْ زَقُّومٍ

Transliteration

Laakiloona min shajarin min zaqqoom

Yusuf Ali

"Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum.

56:52

فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ

Transliteration

Famali-oona minha albutoon

Yusuf Ali

"Then will ye fill your insides therewith,

56:53

فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ

Transliteration

Fashariboona AAalayhi mina alhameem

Yusuf Ali

"And drink Boiling Water on top of it:

56:54

فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ

Transliteration

Fashariboona shurba alheem

Yusuf Ali

"Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!"

56:55

هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

Transliteration

Hatha nuzuluhum yawma addeen

Yusuf Ali

Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital!

56:56

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ

Transliteration

Nahnu khalaqnakum falawlatusaddiqoon

Yusuf Ali

It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth?

56:57

أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تُمْنُونَ

Transliteration

Afaraaytum ma tumnoon

Yusuf Ali

Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,-

56:58

أَأَنْتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ

Transliteration

Aantum takhluqoonahu am nahnu alkhaliqoon

Yusuf Ali

Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators?

56:59

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ

Transliteration

Nahnu qaddarna baynakumualmawta wama nahnu bimasbooqeen

Yusuf Ali

We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated

56:60

عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

AAala an nubaddila amthalakumwanunshi-akum fee ma la taAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not.

56:61

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

Transliteration

Walaqad AAalimtumu annash-ata al-oolafalawla tathakkaroon

Yusuf Ali

And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises?

56:62

أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تَحْرُثُونَ

Transliteration

Afaraaytum ma tahruthoon

Yusuf Ali

See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground?

56:63

أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ

Transliteration

Aantum tazraAAoonahu am nahnu azzariAAoon

Yusuf Ali

Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause?

56:64

لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ

Transliteration

Law nashao lajaAAalnahu hutamanfathaltum tafakkahoon

Yusuf Ali

Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment,

56:65

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ

Transliteration

Inna lamughramoon

Yusuf Ali

(Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing):

56:66

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ

Transliteration

Bal nahnu mahroomoon

Yusuf Ali

"Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)"

56:67

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ

Transliteration

Afaraaytumu almaa allatheetashraboon

Yusuf Ali

See ye the water which ye drink?

56:68

أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ

Transliteration

Aantum anzaltumoohu mina almuzni am nahnualmunziloon

Yusuf Ali

Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We?

56:69

لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ

Transliteration

Law nashao jaAAalnahu ojajanfalawla tashkuroon

Yusuf Ali

Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks?

56:70

أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ

Transliteration

Afaraaytumu annara allateetooroon

Yusuf Ali

See ye the Fire which ye kindle?

56:71

أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْشِئُونَ

Transliteration

Aantum ansha/tum shajarataha am nahnualmunshi-oon

Yusuf Ali

Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it?

56:72

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِلْمُقْوِينَ

Transliteration

Nahnu jaAAalnaha tathkiratanwamataAAan lilmuqween

Yusuf Ali

We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts.

56:73

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Fasabbih bismi rabbika alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme!

56:74

۞ فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ

Transliteration

Fala oqsimu bimawaqiAAi annujoom

Yusuf Ali

Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,-

56:75

وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu laqasamun law taAAlamoona AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,-

56:76

إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ

Transliteration

Innahu laqur-anun kareem

Yusuf Ali

That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,

56:77

فِي كِتَابٍ مَكْنُونٍ

Transliteration

Fee kitabin maknoon

Yusuf Ali

In Book well-guarded,

56:78

لَا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ

Transliteration

La yamassuhu illa almutahharoon

Yusuf Ali

Which none shall touch but those who are clean:

56:79

تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Tanzeelun min rabbi alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.

56:80

أَفَبِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنْتُمْ مُدْهِنُونَ

Transliteration

Afabihatha alhadeethi antummudhinoon

Yusuf Ali

Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem?

56:81

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ

Transliteration

WatajAAaloona rizqakum annakum tukaththiboon

Yusuf Ali

And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false?

56:82

فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ

Transliteration

Falawla itha balaghati alhulqoom

Yusuf Ali

Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-

56:83

وَأَنْتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنْظُرُونَ

Transliteration

Waantum heena-ithin tanthuroona

Yusuf Ali

And ye the while (sit) looking on,-

56:84

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wanahnu aqrabu ilayhi minkum walakinla tubsiroon

Yusuf Ali

But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,-

56:85

فَلَوْلَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ

Transliteration

Falawla in kuntum ghayra madeeneen

Yusuf Ali

Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,-

56:86

تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

Transliteration

TarjiAAoonaha in kuntum sadiqeen

Yusuf Ali

Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)?

56:87

فَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

Transliteration

Faamma in kana minaalmuqarrabeen

Yusuf Ali

Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah,

56:88

فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ

Transliteration

Farawhun warayhanun wajannatunaAAeem

Yusuf Ali

(There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights.

56:89

وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ

Transliteration

Waamma in kana min as-habialyameen

Yusuf Ali

And if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand,

56:90

فَسَلَامٌ لَكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ

Transliteration

Fasalamun laka min as-habialyameen

Yusuf Ali

(For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand.

56:91

وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ

Transliteration

Waamma in kana mina almukaththibeenaaddalleen

Yusuf Ali

And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong,

56:92

فَنُزُلٌ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ

Transliteration

Fanuzulun min hameem

Yusuf Ali

For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water.

56:93

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ

Transliteration

Watasliyatu jaheem

Yusuf Ali

And burning in Hell-Fire.

56:94

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ

Transliteration

Inna hatha lahuwa haqqualyaqeen

Yusuf Ali

Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly.

56:95

فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Fasabbih bismi rabbika alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

So celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme.

56:96

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

سَبَّحَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Transliteration

Sabbaha lillahi ma fee assamawatiwal-ardi wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeem

Yusuf Ali

Whatever is in the heavens and on earth,- let it declare the Praises and Glory of Allah: for He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

57:1

لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration

Lahu mulku assamawatiwal-ardi yuhyee wayumeetu wahuwa AAalakulli shay-in qadeer

Yusuf Ali

To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: It is He Who gives Life and Death; and He has Power over all things.

57:2

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

Transliteration

Huwa al-awwalu wal-akhiru waththahiruwalbatinu wahuwa bikulli shay-in AAaleem

Yusuf Ali

He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.

57:3

هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَلِجُ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا وَمَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا ۖ وَهُوَ مَعَكُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

Transliteration

Huwa allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda fee sittati ayyamin thumma istawaAAala alAAarshi yaAAlamu ma yaliju fee al-ardiwama yakhruju minha wama yanzilu mina assama-iwama yaAAruju feeha wahuwa maAAakum ayna makuntum wallahu bima taAAmaloona baseer

Yusuf Ali

He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of Authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever ye may be. And Allah sees well all that ye do.

57:4

لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الْأُمُورُ

Transliteration

Lahu mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wa-ila Allahi turjaAAual-omoor

Yusuf Ali

To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: and all affairs are referred back to Allah.

57:5

يُولِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِي النَّهَارِ وَيُولِجُ النَّهَارَ فِي اللَّيْلِ ۚ وَهُوَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ

Transliteration

Yooliju allayla fee annahariwayooliju annahara fee allayi wahuwa AAaleemun bithatiassudoor

Yusuf Ali

He merges Night into Day, and He merges Day into Night; and He has full knowledge of the secrets of (all) hearts.

57:6

آمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ ۖ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْفَقُوا لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ

Transliteration

Aminoo billahiwarasoolihi waanfiqoo mimma jaAAalakum mustakhlafeenafeehi fallatheena amanoo minkum waanfaqoolahum ajrun kabeer

Yusuf Ali

Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity),- for them is a great Reward.

57:7

وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ ۙ وَالرَّسُولُ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ وَقَدْ أَخَذَ مِيثَاقَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration

Wama lakum la tu/minoona billahiwarrasoolu yadAAookum litu/minoo birabbikum waqad akhathameethaqakum in kuntum mu/mineen

Yusuf Ali

What cause have ye why ye should not believe in Allah?- and the Messenger invites you to believe in your Lord, and has indeed taken your Covenant, if ye are men of Faith.

57:8

هُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ ۚ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ

Transliteration

Huwa allathee yunazzilu AAalaAAabdihi ayatin bayyinatin liyukhrijakummina aththulumati ila annooriwa-inna Allaha bikum laraoofun raheem

Yusuf Ali

He is the One Who sends to His Servant Manifest Signs, that He may lead you from the depths of Darkness into the Light and verily Allah is to you most kind and Merciful.

57:9

وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تُنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلِلَّهِ مِيرَاثُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوِي مِنْكُمْ مَنْ أَنْفَقَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْفَتْحِ وَقَاتَلَ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِنَ الَّذِينَ أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَقَاتَلُوا ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ

Transliteration

Wama lakum alla tunfiqoo feesabeeli Allahi walillahi meerathu assamawatiwal-ardi la yastawee minkum man anfaqa minqabli alfathi waqatala ola-ika aAAthamudarajatan mina allatheena anfaqoo min baAAdu waqataloowakullan waAAada Allahu alhusna wallahubima taAAmaloona khabeer

Yusuf Ali

And what cause have ye why ye should not spend in the cause of Allah?- For to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth. Not equal among you are those who spent (freely) and fought, before the Victory, (with those who did so later). Those are higher in rank than those who spent (freely) and fought afterwards. But to all has Allah promised a goodly (reward). And Allah is well acquainted with all that ye do.

57:10

مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا فَيُضَاعِفَهُ لَهُ وَلَهُ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ

Transliteration

Man tha allathee yuqriduAllaha qardan hasanan fayudaAAifahulahu walahu ajrun kareem

Yusuf Ali

Who is he that will Loan to Allah a beautiful loan? for (Allah) will increase it manifold to his credit, and he will have (besides) a liberal Reward.

57:11

يَوْمَ تَرَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَسْعَىٰ نُورُهُمْ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَانِهِمْ بُشْرَاكُمُ الْيَوْمَ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

Transliteration

Yawma tara almu/mineena walmu/minatiyasAAa nooruhum bayna aydeehim wabi-aymanihim bushrakumualyawma jannatun tajree min tahtiha al-anharukhalideena feeha thalika huwa alfawzu alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

One Day shalt thou see the believing men and the believing women- how their Light runs forward before them and by their right hands: (their greeting will be): "Good News for you this Day! Gardens beneath which flow rivers! to dwell therein for aye! This is indeed the highest Achievement!"

57:12

يَوْمَ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالْمُنَافِقَاتُ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا انْظُرُونَا نَقْتَبِسْ مِنْ نُورِكُمْ قِيلَ ارْجِعُوا وَرَاءَكُمْ فَالْتَمِسُوا نُورًا فَضُرِبَ بَيْنَهُمْ بِسُورٍ لَهُ بَابٌ بَاطِنُهُ فِيهِ الرَّحْمَةُ وَظَاهِرُهُ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ الْعَذَابُ

Transliteration

Yawma yaqoolu almunafiqoona walmunafiqatulillatheena amanoo onthuroonanaqtabis min noorikum qeela irjiAAoo waraakum faltamisoonooran faduriba baynahum bisoorin lahu babun batinuhufeehi arrahmatu wathahiruhumin qibalihi alAAathab

Yusuf Ali

One Day will the Hypocrites- men and women - say to the Believers: "Wait for us! Let us borrow (a Light) from your Light!" It will be said: "Turn ye back to your rear! then seek a Light (where ye can)!" So a wall will be put up betwixt them, with a gate therein. Within it will be Mercy throughout, and without it, all alongside, will be (Wrath and) Punishment!

57:13

يُنَادُونَهُمْ أَلَمْ نَكُنْ مَعَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ وَلَٰكِنَّكُمْ فَتَنْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتَرَبَّصْتُمْ وَارْتَبْتُمْ وَغَرَّتْكُمُ الْأَمَانِيُّ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَ أَمْرُ اللَّهِ وَغَرَّكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ

Transliteration

Yunadoonahum alam nakun maAAakum qaloobala walakinnakum fatantum anfusakum watarabbastumwartabtum wagharratkumu al-amaniyyu hattajaa amru Allahi wagharrakum billahialgharoor

Yusuf Ali

(Those without) will call out, "Were we not with you?" (The others) will reply, "True! but ye led yourselves into temptation; ye looked forward (to our ruin); ye doubted (Allah's Promise); and (your false) desires deceived you; until there issued the Command of Allah. And the Deceiver deceived you in respect of Allah.

57:14

فَالْيَوْمَ لَا يُؤْخَذُ مِنْكُمْ فِدْيَةٌ وَلَا مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ مَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ ۖ هِيَ مَوْلَاكُمْ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ

Transliteration

Falyawma la yu/khathuminkum fidyatun wala mina allatheena kafaroo ma/wakumuannaru hiya mawlakum wabi/sa almaseer

Yusuf Ali

"This Day shall no ransom be accepted of you, nor of those who rejected Allah." Your abode is the Fire: that is the proper place to claim you: and an evil refuge it is!"

57:15

۞ أَلَمْ يَأْنِ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنْ تَخْشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا يَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَمَدُ فَقَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ

Transliteration

Alam ya/ni lillatheena amanooan takhshaAAa quloobuhum lithikri Allahi wamanazala mina alhaqqi wala yakoonoo kallatheenaootoo alkitaba min qablu fatala AAalayhimu al-amadufaqasat quloobuhum wakatheerun minhum fasiqoon

Yusuf Ali

Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors.

57:16

اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا ۚ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

Transliteration

IAAlamoo anna Allaha yuhyeeal-arda baAAda mawtiha qad bayyanna lakumual-ayati laAAallakum taAAqiloon

Yusuf Ali

Know ye (all) that Allah giveth life to the earth after its death! already have We shown the Signs plainly to you, that ye may learn wisdom.

57:17

إِنَّ الْمُصَّدِّقِينَ وَالْمُصَّدِّقَاتِ وَأَقْرَضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمْ وَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَرِيمٌ

Transliteration

Inna almussaddiqeena walmussaddiqatiwaaqradoo Allaha qardan hasanan yudaAAafulahum walahum ajrun kareem

Yusuf Ali

For those who give in Charity, men and women, and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and they shall have (besides) a liberal reward.

57:18

وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الصِّدِّيقُونَ ۖ وَالشُّهَدَاءُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْ ۖ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَحِيمِ

Transliteration

Wallatheena amanoo billahiwarusulihi ola-ika humu assiddeeqoona washshuhadaoAAinda rabbihim lahum ajruhum wanooruhum wallatheenakafaroo wakaththaboo bi-ayatina ola-ikaas-habu aljaheem

Yusuf Ali

And those who believe in Allah and His messengers- they are the Sincere (lovers of Truth), and the witnesses (who testify), in the eyes of their Lord: They shall have their Reward and their Light. But those who reject Allah and deny Our Signs,- they are the Companions of Hell-Fire.

57:19

اعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَزِينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ وَالْأَوْلَادِ ۖ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ ثُمَّ يَهِيجُ فَتَرَاهُ مُصْفَرًّا ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَامًا ۖ وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانٌ ۚ وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ

Transliteration

IAAlamoo annama alhayatuaddunya laAAibun walahwun wazeenatun watafakhurunbaynakum watakathurun fee al-amwali wal-awladikamathali ghaythin aAAjaba alkuffara nabatuhuthumma yaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yakoonu hutamanwafee al-akhirati AAathabun shadeedun wamaghfiratunmina Allahi waridwanun wama alhayatuaddunya illa mataAAu alghuroor

Yusuf Ali

Know ye (all), that the life of this world is but play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting and multiplying, (in rivalry) among yourselves, riches and children. Here is a similitude: How rain and the growth which it brings forth, delight (the hearts of) the tillers; soon it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then it becomes dry and crumbles away. But in the Hereafter is a Penalty severe (for the devotees of wrong). And Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the devotees of Allah). And what is the life of this world, but goods and chattels of deception?

57:20

سَابِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Sabiqoo ila maghfiratin minrabbikum wajannatin AAarduha kaAAardi assama-iwal-ardi oAAiddat lillatheena amanoobillahi warusulihi thalika fadlu Allahiyu/teehi man yashao wallahu thooalfadli alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

Be ye foremost (in seeking) Forgiveness from your Lord, and a Garden (of Bliss), the width whereof is as the width of heaven and earth, prepared for those who believe in Allah and His messengers: that is the Grace of Allah, which He bestows on whom he pleases: and Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding.

57:21

مَا أَصَابَ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ إِلَّا فِي كِتَابٍ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَبْرَأَهَا ۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ

Transliteration

Ma asaba min museebatinfee al-ardi wala fee anfusikum illa fee kitabinmin qabli an nabraaha inna thalika AAala Allahiyaseer

Yusuf Ali

No misfortune can happen on earth or in your souls but is recorded in a decree before We bring it into existence: That is truly easy for Allah:

57:22

لِكَيْلَا تَأْسَوْا عَلَىٰ مَا فَاتَكُمْ وَلَا تَفْرَحُوا بِمَا آتَاكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ

Transliteration

Likayla ta/saw AAala mafatakum wala tafrahoo bima atakumwallahu la yuhibbu kulla mukhtalinfakhoor

Yusuf Ali

In order that ye may not despair over matters that pass you by, nor exult over favours bestowed upon you. For Allah loveth not any vainglorious boaster,-

57:23

الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ ۗ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ

Transliteration

Allatheena yabkhaloona waya/muroona annasabilbukhli waman yatawalla fa-inna Allaha huwaalghaniyyu alhameed

Yusuf Ali

Such persons as are covetous and commend covetousness to men. And if any turn back (from Allah's Way), verily Allah is Free of all Needs, Worthy of all Praise.

57:24

لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَأَنْزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ النَّاسُ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَأَنْزَلْنَا الْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَافِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَنْصُرُهُ وَرُسُلَهُ بِالْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ

Transliteration

Laqad arsalna rusulana bilbayyinatiwaanzalna maAAahumu alkitaba walmeezanaliyaqooma annasu bilqisti waanzalnaalhadeeda feehi ba/sun shadeedun wamanafiAAu linnasiwaliyaAAlama Allahu man yansuruhu warusulahu bilghaybiinna Allaha qawiyyun AAazeez

Yusuf Ali

We sent aforetime our messengers with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, Unseen, Him and His messengers: For Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will).

57:25

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ ۖ فَمِنْهُمْ مُهْتَدٍ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ

Transliteration

Walaqad arsalna noohan wa-ibraheemawajaAAalna fee thurriyyatihima annubuwwatawalkitaba faminhum muhtadin wakatheerun minhum fasiqoon

Yusuf Ali

And We sent Noah and Abraham, and established in their line Prophethood and Revelation: and some of them were on right guidance. But many of them became rebellious transgressors.

57:26

ثُمَّ قَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ بِرُسُلِنَا وَقَفَّيْنَا بِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْإِنْجِيلَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ رَأْفَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَرَهْبَانِيَّةً ابْتَدَعُوهَا مَا كَتَبْنَاهَا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ رِضْوَانِ اللَّهِ فَمَا رَعَوْهَا حَقَّ رِعَايَتِهَا ۖ فَآتَيْنَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَاسِقُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma qaffayna AAala atharihimbirusulina waqaffayna biAAeesa ibni maryamawaataynahu al-injeela wajaAAalna fee quloobiallatheena ittabaAAoohu ra/fatan warahmatan warahbaniyyatanibtadaAAooha ma katabnaha AAalayhimilla ibtighaa ridwani Allahifama raAAawha haqqa riAAayatihafaatayna allatheena amanoo minhumajrahum wakatheerun minhum fasiqoon

Yusuf Ali

Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our messengers: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah; but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors.

57:27

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَآمِنُوا بِرَسُولِهِ يُؤْتِكُمْ كِفْلَيْنِ مِنْ رَحْمَتِهِ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ نُورًا تَمْشُونَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

Transliteration

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooittaqoo Allaha waaminoo birasoolihi yu/tikumkiflayni min rahmatihi wayajAAal lakum nooran tamshoonabihi wayaghfir lakum wallahu ghafoorun raheem

Yusuf Ali

O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

57:28

لِئَلَّا يَعْلَمَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ أَلَّا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَيْءٍ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ ۙ وَأَنَّ الْفَضْلَ بِيَدِ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Li-alla yaAAlama ahlu alkitabialla yaqdiroona AAala shay-in min fadli Allahiwaanna alfadla biyadi Allahi yu/teehi man yashaowallahu thoo alfadli alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

That the People of the Book may know that they have no power whatever over the Grace of Allah, that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand, to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. For Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding.

57:29
