Quoting the Holy Qur’an:

“And to rehearse the Qur'an: and if any accept guidance, they do it for the good of their own souls, and if any stray, say: "I am only a Warner".
An-Naml, Chapter #27, Verse #92)

Juzu' 30

The 30th juz’ of the Quran includes the last 36 surahs (chapters) of the holy book, from the first verse of the 78th chapter (An-Nabaa 78:1) and continuing to the end of the Quran, or verse 6 of the 114th chapter (An-Nas 114:1). While this juz' contains a large number of complete chapters, the chapters themselves are quite short, ranging in length from 3-46 verses each. Most of the chapters in this juz' consist of fewer than 25 verses.

Most of these short surahs were revealed at the beginning of the Makkan period, when the Muslim community was timid and small in number. Over time, they faced rejection and intimidation from the pagan population and leadership of Makkah.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

Transliteration

AAamma yatasaaloon

Yusuf Ali

Concerning what are they disputing?

78:1

عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

AAani annaba-i alAAatheem

Yusuf Ali

Concerning the Great News,

78:2

الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

Transliteration

Allathee hum feehi mukhtalifoon

Yusuf Ali

About which they cannot agree.

78:3

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Kalla sayaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Verily, they shall soon (come to) know!

78:4

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma kalla sayaAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know!

78:5

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا

Transliteration

Alam najAAali al-arda mihada

Yusuf Ali

Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse,

78:6

وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا

Transliteration

Waljibala awtada

Yusuf Ali

And the mountains as pegs?

78:7

وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا

Transliteration

Wakhalaqnakum azwaja

Yusuf Ali

And (have We not) created you in pairs,

78:8

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا

Transliteration

WajaAAalna nawmakum subata

Yusuf Ali

And made your sleep for rest,

78:9

وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا

Transliteration

WajaAAalna allayla libasa

Yusuf Ali

And made the night as a covering,

78:10

وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا

Transliteration

WajaAAalna annaharamaAAasha

Yusuf Ali

And made the day as a means of subsistence?

78:11

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا

Transliteration

Wabanayna fawqakum sabAAan shidada

Yusuf Ali

And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments,

78:12

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا

Transliteration

WajaAAalna sirajan wahhaja

Yusuf Ali

And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour?

78:13

وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا

Transliteration

Waanzalna mina almuAAsiratimaan thajjaja

Yusuf Ali

And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance,

78:14

لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا

Transliteration

Linukhrija bihi habban wanabata

Yusuf Ali

That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables,

78:15

وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا

Transliteration

Wajannatin alfafa

Yusuf Ali

And gardens of luxurious growth?

78:16

إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا

Transliteration

Inna yawma alfasli kana meeqata

Yusuf Ali

Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed,

78:17

يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا

Transliteration

Yawma yunfakhu fee assoorifata/toona afwaja

Yusuf Ali

The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds;

78:18

وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا

Transliteration

Wafutihati assamao fakanatabwaba

Yusuf Ali

And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors,

78:19

وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

Transliteration

Wasuyyirati aljibalu fakanatsaraba

Yusuf Ali

And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage.

78:20

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا

Transliteration

Inna jahannama kanat mirsada

Yusuf Ali

Truly Hell is as a place of ambush,

78:21

لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا

Transliteration

Littagheena maaba

Yusuf Ali

For the transgressors a place of destination:

78:22

لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا

Transliteration

Labitheena feeha ahqaba

Yusuf Ali

They will dwell therein for ages.

78:23

لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا

Transliteration

La yathooqoona feehabardan wala sharaba

Yusuf Ali

Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink,

78:24

إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا

Transliteration

Illa hameeman waghassaqa

Yusuf Ali

Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold,

78:25

جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا

Transliteration

Jazaan wifaqa

Yusuf Ali

A fitting recompense (for them).

78:26

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا

Transliteration

Innahum kanoo la yarjoona hisaba

Yusuf Ali

For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds),

78:27

وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابًا

Transliteration

Wakaththaboo bi-ayatinakiththaba

Yusuf Ali

But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false.

78:28

وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا

Transliteration

Wakulla shay-in ahsaynahu kitaba

Yusuf Ali

And all things have We preserved on record.

78:29

فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

Transliteration

Fathooqoo falan nazeedakum illaAAathaba

Yusuf Ali

"So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment."

78:30

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

Transliteration

Inna lilmuttaqeena mafaza

Yusuf Ali

Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart's) desires;

78:31

حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا

Transliteration

Hada-iqa waaAAnaba

Yusuf Ali

Gardens enclosed, and grapevines;

78:32

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا

Transliteration

WakawaAAiba atraba

Yusuf Ali

And voluptuous women of equal age;

78:33

وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا

Transliteration

Waka/san dihaqa

Yusuf Ali

And a cup full (to the brim).

78:34

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا

Transliteration

La yasmaAAoona feeha laghwanwala kiththaba

Yusuf Ali

No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth:-

78:35

جَزَاءً مِنْ رَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا

Transliteration

Jazaan min rabbika AAataan hisaba

Yusuf Ali

Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient,

78:36

رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا

Transliteration

Rabbi assamawati wal-ardiwama baynahuma arrahmani layamlikoona minhu khitaba

Yusuf Ali

(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him.

78:37

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا

Transliteration

Yawma yaqoomu arroohu walmala-ikatusaffan la yatakallamoona illa man athinalahu arrahmanu waqala sawaba

Yusuf Ali

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (Allah) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right.

78:38

ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا

Transliteration

Thalika alyawmu alhaqqu famanshaa ittakhatha ila rabbihi maaba

Yusuf Ali

That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord!

78:39

إِنَّا أَنْذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ تُرَابًا

Transliteration

Inna antharnakum AAathabanqareeban yawma yanthuru almaro ma qaddamatyadahu wayaqoolu alkafiru ya laytanee kuntuturaba

Yusuf Ali

Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust!"

78:40

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا

Transliteration

WannaziAAati gharqa

Yusuf Ali

By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence;

79:1

وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا

Transliteration

Wannashitati nashta

Yusuf Ali

By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed);

79:2

وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا

Transliteration

Wassabihati sabha

Yusuf Ali

And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy),

79:3

فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا

Transliteration

Fassabiqati sabqa

Yusuf Ali

Then press forward as in a race,

79:4

فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا

Transliteration

Falmudabbirati amra

Yusuf Ali

Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord),

79:5

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ

Transliteration

Yawma tarjufu arrajifa

Yusuf Ali

One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion,

79:6

تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ

Transliteration

TatbaAAuha arradifa

Yusuf Ali

Followed by oft-repeated (commotions):

79:7

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ

Transliteration

Quloobun yawma-ithin wajifa

Yusuf Ali

Hearts that Day will be in agitation;

79:8

أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ

Transliteration

Absaruha khashiAAa

Yusuf Ali

Cast down will be (their owners') eyes.

79:9

يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ

Transliteration

Yaqooloona a-inna lamardoodoona feealhafira

Yusuf Ali

They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state?

79:10

أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَخِرَةً

Transliteration

A-itha kunna AAithamannakhira

Yusuf Ali

"What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?"

79:11

قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ

Transliteration

Qaloo tilka ithan karratun khasira

Yusuf Ali

They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!"

79:12

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ

Transliteration

Fa-innama hiya zajratun wahida

Yusuf Ali

But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry,

79:13

فَإِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِ

Transliteration

Fa-itha hum bissahira

Yusuf Ali

When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment).

79:14

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ

Transliteration

Hal ataka hadeethu moosa

Yusuf Ali

Has the story of Moses reached thee?

79:15

إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

Transliteration

Ith nadahu rabbuhu bilwadialmuqaddasi tuwa

Yusuf Ali

Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:-

79:16

اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ

Transliteration

Ithhab ila firAAawna innahu tagha

Yusuf Ali

"Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds:

79:17

فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَىٰ أَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ

Transliteration

Faqul hal laka ila an tazakka

Yusuf Ali

"And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?-

79:18

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ

Transliteration

Waahdiyaka ila rabbika fatakhsha

Yusuf Ali

"'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'"

79:19

فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Faarahu al-ayata alkubra

Yusuf Ali

Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign.

79:20

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

Transliteration

Fakaththaba waAAasa

Yusuf Ali

But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance);

79:21

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ

Transliteration

Thumma adbara yasAAa

Yusuf Ali

Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah).

79:22

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

Transliteration

Fahashara fanada

Yusuf Ali

Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation,

79:23

فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ

Transliteration

Faqala ana rabbukumu al-aAAla

Yusuf Ali

Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High".

79:24

فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Faakhathahu Allahu nakalaal-akhirati wal-oola

Yusuf Ali

But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life.

79:25

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِمَنْ يَخْشَىٰ

Transliteration

Inna fee thalika laAAibratan limanyakhsha

Yusuf Ali

Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah).

79:26

أَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا

Transliteration

Aantum ashaddu khalqan ami assamaobanaha

Yusuf Ali

What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it:

79:27

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا

Transliteration

RafaAAa samkaha fasawwaha

Yusuf Ali

On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection.

79:28

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا

Transliteration

Waaghtasha laylaha waakhraja duhaha

Yusuf Ali

Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light).

79:29

وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا

Transliteration

Wal-arda baAAda thalikadahaha

Yusuf Ali

And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse);

79:30

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا

Transliteration

Akhraja minha maahawamarAAaha

Yusuf Ali

He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture;

79:31

وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا

Transliteration

Waljibala arsaha

Yusuf Ali

And the mountains hath He firmly fixed;-

79:32

مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ

Transliteration

MataAAan lakum wali-anAAamikum

Yusuf Ali

For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

79:33

فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Fa-itha jaati attammatualkubra

Yusuf Ali

Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event),-

79:34

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا سَعَىٰ

Transliteration

Yawma yatathakkaru al-insanu masaAAa

Yusuf Ali

The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for,

79:35

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَنْ يَرَىٰ

Transliteration

Waburrizati aljaheemu liman yara

Yusuf Ali

And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see,-

79:36

فَأَمَّا مَنْ طَغَىٰ

Transliteration

Faamma man tagha

Yusuf Ali

Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds,

79:37

وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا

Transliteration

Waathara alhayata addunya

Yusuf Ali

And had preferred the life of this world,

79:38

فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ

Transliteration

Fa-inna aljaheema hiya alma/wa

Yusuf Ali

The Abode will be Hell-Fire;

79:39

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ

Transliteration

Waama man khafa maqamarabbihi wanaha annafsa AAani alhawa

Yusuf Ali

And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires,

79:40

فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ

Transliteration

Fa-inna aljannata hiya alma/wa

Yusuf Ali

Their abode will be the Garden.

79:41

يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا

Transliteration

Yas-aloonaka AAani assaAAatiayyana mursaha

Yusuf Ali

They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time?

79:42

فِيمَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ذِكْرَاهَا

Transliteration

Feema anta min thikraha

Yusuf Ali

Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof?

79:43

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنْتَهَاهَا

Transliteration

Ila rabbika muntahaha

Yusuf Ali

With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor.

79:44

إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُنْذِرُ مَنْ يَخْشَاهَا

Transliteration

Innama anta munthiru manyakhshaha

Yusuf Ali

Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it.

79:45

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا

Transliteration

Kaannahum yawma yarawnaha lamyalbathoo illa AAashiyyatan aw duhaha

Yusuf Ali

The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn!

79:46

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

AAabasa watawalla

Yusuf Ali

(The Prophet) frowned and turned away,

80:1

أَنْ جَاءَهُ الْأَعْمَىٰ

Transliteration

An jaahu al-aAAma

Yusuf Ali

Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).

80:2

وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّىٰ

Transliteration

Wama yudreeka laAAallahu yazzakka

Yusuf Ali

But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-

80:3

أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Aw yaththakkaru fatanfaAAahu aththikra

Yusuf Ali

Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?

80:4

أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Amma mani istaghna

Yusuf Ali

As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,

80:5

فَأَنْتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ

Transliteration

Faanta lahu tasadda

Yusuf Ali

To him dost thou attend;

80:6

وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ

Transliteration

Wama AAalayka alla yazzakka

Yusuf Ali

Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).

80:7

وَأَمَّا مَنْ جَاءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ

Transliteration

Waamma man jaaka yasAAa

Yusuf Ali

But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,

80:8

وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ

Transliteration

Wahuwa yakhsha

Yusuf Ali

And with fear (in his heart),

80:9

فَأَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ

Transliteration

Faanta AAanhu talahha

Yusuf Ali

Of him wast thou unmindful.

80:10

كَلَّا إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ

Transliteration

Kalla innaha tathkira

Yusuf Ali

By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:

80:11

فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ

Transliteration

Faman shaa thakarah

Yusuf Ali

Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.

80:12

فِي صُحُفٍ مُكَرَّمَةٍ

Transliteration

Fee suhufin mukarrama

Yusuf Ali

(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,

80:13

مَرْفُوعَةٍ مُطَهَّرَةٍ

Transliteration

MarfooAAatin mutahhara

Yusuf Ali

Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,

80:14

بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَةٍ

Transliteration

Bi-aydee safara

(Written) by the hands of scribes-

80:15

كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ

Transliteration

Kiramin barara

Yusuf Ali

Honourable and Pious and Just.

80:16

قُتِلَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ

Transliteration

Qutila al-insanu ma akfarah

Yusuf Ali

Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;

80:17

مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ

Transliteration

Min ayyi shay-in khalaqah

Yusuf Ali

From what stuff hath He created him?

80:18

مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ

Transliteration

Min nutfatin khalaqahu faqaddarah

Yusuf Ali

From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;

80:19

ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ

Transliteration

Thumma assabeela yassarah

Yusuf Ali

Then doth He make His path smooth for him;

80:20

ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ

Transliteration

Thumma amatahu faaqbarah

Yusuf Ali

Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave;

80:21

ثُمَّ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْشَرَهُ

Transliteration

Thumma itha shaa ansharah

Yusuf Ali

Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again).

80:22

كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَا أَمَرَهُ

Transliteration

Kalla lamma yaqdi maamarah

Yusuf Ali

By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him.

80:23

فَلْيَنْظُرِ الْإِنْسَانُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِ

Transliteration

Falyanthuri al-insanuila taAAamih

Yusuf Ali

Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it):

80:24

أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا الْمَاءَ صَبًّا

Transliteration

Anna sababna almaasabba

Yusuf Ali

For that We pour forth water in abundance,

80:25

ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا الْأَرْضَ شَقًّا

Transliteration

Thumma shaqaqna al-arda shaqqa

Yusuf Ali

And We split the earth in fragments,

80:26

فَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا

Transliteration

Faanbatna feeha habba

Yusuf Ali

And produce therein corn,

80:27

وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا

Transliteration

WaAAinaban waqadba

Yusuf Ali

And Grapes and nutritious plants,

80:28

وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا

Transliteration

Wazaytoonan wanakhla

Yusuf Ali

And Olives and Dates,

80:29

وَحَدَائِقَ غُلْبًا

Transliteration

Wahada-iqa ghulba

Yusuf Ali

And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees,

80:30

وَفَاكِهَةً وَأَبًّا

Transliteration

Wafakihatan waabba

Yusuf Ali

And fruits and fodder,-

80:31

مَتَاعًا لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ

Transliteration

MataAAan lakum wali-anAAamikum

Yusuf Ali

For use and convenience to you and your cattle.

80:32

فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الصَّاخَّةُ

Transliteration

Fa-itha jaati assakhkha

Yusuf Ali

At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,-

80:33

يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ الْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ

Transliteration

Yawma yafirru almaro min akheeh

Yusuf Ali

That Day shall a man flee from his own brother,

80:34

وَأُمِّهِ وَأَبِيهِ

Transliteration

Waommihi waabeeh

Yusuf Ali

And from his mother and his father,

80:35

وَصَاحِبَتِهِ وَبَنِيهِ

Transliteration

Wasahibatihi wabaneeh

Yusuf Ali

And from his wife and his children.

80:36

لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ

Transliteration

Likulli imri-in minhum yawma-ithinsha/nun yughneeh

Yusuf Ali

Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others.

80:37

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُسْفِرَةٌ

Transliteration

Wujoohun yawma-ithin musfira

Yusuf Ali

Some faces that Day will be beaming,

80:38

ضَاحِكَةٌ مُسْتَبْشِرَةٌ

Transliteration

Dahikatun mustabshira

Yusuf Ali

Laughing, rejoicing.

80:39

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ

Transliteration

Wawujoohun yawma-ithin AAalayhaghabara

Yusuf Ali

And other faces that Day will be dust-stained,

80:40

تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ

Transliteration

Tarhaquha qatara

Yusuf Ali

Blackness will cover them:

80:41

أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْكَفَرَةُ الْفَجَرَةُ

Transliteration

Ola-ika humu alkafaratu alfajara

Yusuf Ali

Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity.

80:42

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ

Transliteration

Itha ashshamsu kuwwirat

Yusuf Ali

When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;

81:1

وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha annujoomu inkadarat

Yusuf Ali

When the stars fall, losing their lustre;

81:2

وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha aljibalu suyyirat

Yusuf Ali

When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);

81:3

وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha alAAisharu AAuttilat

Yusuf Ali

When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended;

81:4

وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha alwuhooshu hushirat

Yusuf Ali

When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);

81:5

وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha albiharu sujjirat

Yusuf Ali

When the oceans boil over with a swell;

81:6

وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha annufoosu zuwwijat

Yusuf Ali

When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like);

81:7

وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha almawoodatu su-ilat

Yusuf Ali

When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned -

81:8

بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ

Transliteration

Bi-ayyi thanbin qutilat

Yusuf Ali

For what crime she was killed;

81:9

وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha assuhufunushirat

Yusuf Ali

When the scrolls are laid open;

81:10

وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha assamao kushitat

Yusuf Ali

When the world on High is unveiled;

81:11

وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha aljaheemu suAAAAirat

Yusuf Ali

When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;

81:12

وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha aljannatu ozlifat

Yusuf Ali

And when the Garden is brought near;-

81:13

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ

Transliteration

AAalimat nafsun ma ahdarat

Yusuf Ali

(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.

81:14

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ

Transliteration

Fala oqsimu bilkhunnas

Yusuf Ali

So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede,

81:15

الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ

Transliteration

Aljawari alkunnas

Yusuf Ali

Go straight, or hide;

81:16

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

Transliteration

Wallayli itha AAasAAas

Yusuf Ali

And the Night as it dissipates;

81:17

وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

Transliteration

Wassubhi ithatanaffas

Yusuf Ali

And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;-

81:18

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

Transliteration

Innahu laqawlu rasoolin kareem

Yusuf Ali

Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,

81:19

ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ

Transliteration

Thee quwwatin AAinda theealAAarshi makeen

Yusuf Ali

Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,

81:20

مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ

Transliteration

MutaAAin thamma ameen

Yusuf Ali

With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.

81:21

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ

Transliteration

Wama sahibukum bimajnoon

Yusuf Ali

And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;

81:22

وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ

Transliteration

Walaqad raahu bilofuqialmubeen

Yusuf Ali

And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.

81:23

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ

Transliteration

Wama huwa AAala alghaybi bidaneen

Yusuf Ali

Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.

81:24

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wama huwa biqawli shaytaninrajeem

Yusuf Ali

Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.

81:25

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ

Transliteration

Faayna tathhaboon

Yusuf Ali

When whither go ye?

81:26

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:

81:27

لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ

Transliteration

Liman shaa minkum an yastaqeem

Yusuf Ali

(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:

81:28

وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Wama tashaoona illa anyashaa Allahu rabbu alAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds.

81:29

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْفَطَرَتْ

Transliteration

Itha assamao infatarat

Yusuf Ali

When the Sky is cleft asunder;

82:1

وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انْتَثَرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha alkawakibu intatharat

Yusuf Ali

When the Stars are scattered;

82:2

وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha albiharu fujjirat

Yusuf Ali

When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;

82:3

وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha alqubooru buAAthirat

Yusuf Ali

And when the Graves are turned upside down;-

82:4

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ

Transliteration

AAalimat nafsun ma qaddamatwaakhkharat

Yusuf Ali

(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.

82:5

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ

Transliteration

Ya ayyuha al-insanu magharraka birabbika alkareem

Yusuf Ali

O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-

82:6

الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ

Transliteration

Allathee khalaqaka fasawwakafaAAadalak

Yusuf Ali

Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;

82:7

فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ

Transliteration

Fee ayyi sooratin ma shaarakkabak

Yusuf Ali

In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.

82:8

كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ

Transliteration

Kalla bal tukaththiboona biddeen

Yusuf Ali

Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment!

82:9

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-inna AAalaykum lahafitheen

Yusuf Ali

But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,-

82:10

كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ

Transliteration

Kiraman katibeen

Yusuf Ali

Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds):

82:11

يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ

Transliteration

YaAAlamoona ma tafAAaloon

Yusuf Ali

They know (and understand) all that ye do.

82:12

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ

Transliteration

Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeem

Yusuf Ali

As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss;

82:13

وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wa-inna alfujjara lafee jaheem

Yusuf Ali

And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire,

82:14

يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

Transliteration

Yaslawnaha yawma addeen

Yusuf Ali

Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment,

82:15

وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ

Transliteration

Wama hum AAanha bigha-ibeen

Yusuf Ali

And they will not be able to keep away therefrom.

82:16

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma yawmu addeeni

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

82:17

ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ

Transliteration

Thumma ma adraka mayawmu addeen

Yusuf Ali

Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?

82:18

يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلَّهِ

Transliteration

Yawma la tamliku nafsun linafsinshay-an wal-amru yawma-ithin lillah

Yusuf Ali

(It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.

82:19

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ

Transliteration

Waylun lilmutaffifeen

Yusuf Ali

Woe to those that deal in fraud,-

83:1

الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ

Transliteration

Allatheena itha iktalooAAala annasi yastawfoon

Yusuf Ali

Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure,

83:2

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha kaloohum aw wazanoohumyukhsiroon

Yusuf Ali

But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.

83:3

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ

Transliteration

Ala yathunnu ola-ikaannahum mabAAoothoon

Yusuf Ali

Do they not think that they will be called to account?-

83:4

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

Transliteration

Liyawmin AAatheem

Yusuf Ali

On a Mighty Day,

83:5

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Transliteration

Yawma yaqoomu annasu lirabbialAAalameen

Yusuf Ali

A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?

83:6

كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ

Transliteration

Kalla inna kitaba alfujjarilafee sijjeen

Yusuf Ali

Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin.

83:7

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma sijjeen

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?

83:8

كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ

Transliteration

Kitabun marqoom

Yusuf Ali

(There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.

83:9

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

Transliteration

Waylun yawma-ithin lilmukaththibeen

Yusuf Ali

Woe, that Day, to those that deny-

83:10

الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ

Transliteration

Allatheena yukaththiboonabiyawmi addeen

Yusuf Ali

Those that deny the Day of Judgment.

83:11

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wama yukaththibu bihi illakullu muAAtadin atheem

Yusuf Ali

And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner!

83:12

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

Transliteration

Itha tutla AAalayhi ayatunaqala asateeru al-awwaleen

Yusuf Ali

When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!"

83:13

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

Transliteration

Kalla bal rana AAalaquloobihim ma kanoo yaksiboon

Yusuf Ali

By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!

83:14

كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ

Transliteration

Kalla innahum AAan rabbihim yawma-ithinlamahjooboon

Yusuf Ali

Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled.

83:15

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمِ

Transliteration

Thumma innahum lasaloo aljaheem

Yusuf Ali

Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell.

83:16

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma yuqalu hatha allatheekuntum bihi tukaththiboon

Yusuf Ali

Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false!

83:17

كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ

Transliteration

Kalla inna kitaba al-abrarilafee AAilliyyeen

Yusuf Ali

Day, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin.

83:18

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

Transliteration

Wama adraka maAAilliyyoon

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is?

83:19

كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ

Transliteration

Kitabun marqoom

Yusuf Ali

(There is) a Register (fully) inscribed,

83:20

يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

Transliteration

Yashhaduhu almuqarraboon

Yusuf Ali

To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah).

83:21

إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ

Transliteration

Inna al-abrara lafee naAAeem

Yusuf Ali

Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss:

83:22

عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَ

Transliteration

AAala al-ara-iki yanthuroon

Yusuf Ali

On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things):

83:23

تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ

Transliteration

TaAArifu fee wujoohihim nadrata annaAAeem

Yusuf Ali

Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss.

83:24

يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيقٍ مَخْتُومٍ

Transliteration

Yusqawna min raheeqin makhtoom

Yusuf Ali

Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed:

83:25

خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ

Transliteration

Khitamuhu miskun wafee thalikafalyatanafasi almutanafisoon

Yusuf Ali

The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations:

83:26

وَمِزَاجُهُ مِنْ تَسْنِيمٍ

Transliteration

Wamizajuhu min tasneem

Yusuf Ali

With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim:

83:27

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ

Transliteration

AAaynan yashrabu biha almuqarraboon

Yusuf Ali

A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah.

83:28

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ

Transliteration

Inna allatheena ajramoo kanoomina allatheena amanoo yadhakoon

Yusuf Ali

Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed,

83:29

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha marroo bihim yataghamazoon

Yusuf Ali

And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery);

83:30

وَإِذَا انْقَلَبُوا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha inqalaboo ila ahlihimuinqalaboo fakiheen

Yusuf Ali

And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;

83:31

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَضَالُّونَ

Transliteration

Wa-itha raawhum qaloo inna haola-iladalloon

Yusuf Ali

And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!"

83:32

وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ

Transliteration

Wama orsiloo AAalayhim hafitheen

Yusuf Ali

But they had not been sent as keepers over them!

83:33

فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ

Transliteration

Falyawma allatheena amanoomina alkuffari yadhakoon

Yusuf Ali

But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers:

83:34

عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَ

Transliteration

AAala al-ara-iki yanthuroon

Yusuf Ali

On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things).

83:35

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ

Transliteration

Hal thuwwiba alkuffaru ma kanooyafAAaloon

Yusuf Ali

Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did?

83:36

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ

Transliteration

Itha assamao inshaqqat

Yusuf Ali

When the sky is rent asunder,

84:1

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

Transliteration

Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat

Yusuf Ali

And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);-

84:2

وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ

Transliteration

Wa-itha al-ardu muddat

Yusuf Ali

And when the earth is flattened out,

84:3

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ

Transliteration

Waalqat ma feeha watakhallat

Yusuf Ali

And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty,

84:4

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

Transliteration

Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat

Yusuf Ali

And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality).

84:5

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ

Transliteration

Ya ayyuha al-insanuinnaka kadihun ila rabbika kadhanfamulaqeeh

Yusuf Ali

O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him.

84:6

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ

Transliteration

Faama man ootiya kitabahubiyameenih

Yusuf Ali

Then he who is given his Record in his right hand,

84:7

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا

Transliteration

Fasawfa yuhasabu hisabanyaseera

Yusuf Ali

Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning,

84:8

وَيَنْقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

Transliteration

Wayanqalibu ila ahlihi masroora

Yusuf Ali

And he will turn to his people, rejoicing!

84:9

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ

Transliteration

Waamma man ootiya kitabahu waraathahrih

Yusuf Ali

But he who is given his Record behind his back,-

84:10

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا

Transliteration

Fasawfa yadAAoo thuboora

Yusuf Ali

Soon will he cry for perdition,

84:11

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا

Transliteration

Wayasla saAAeera

Yusuf Ali

And he will enter a Blazing Fire.

84:12

إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

Transliteration

Innahu kana fee ahlihi masroora

Yusuf Ali

Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing!

84:13

إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ يَحُورَ

Transliteration

Innahu thanna an lan yahoor

Yusuf Ali

Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)!

84:14

بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا

Transliteration

Bala inna rabbahu kana bihi baseera

Yusuf Ali

Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him!

84:15

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ

Transliteration

Fala oqsimu bishshafaq

Yusuf Ali

So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset;

84:16

وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ

Transliteration

Wallayli wama wasaq

Yusuf Ali

The Night and its Homing;

84:17

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ

Transliteration

Walqamari itha ittasaq

Yusuf Ali

And the Moon in her fullness:

84:18

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍ

Transliteration

Latarkabunna tabaqan AAan tabaq

Yusuf Ali

Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage.

84:19

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Transliteration

Fama lahum la yu/minoon

Yusuf Ali

What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?-

84:20

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩

Transliteration

Wa-itha quri-a AAalayhimu alqur-anula yasjudoon

Yusuf Ali

And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate,

84:21

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ

Transliteration

Bali allatheena kafaroo yukaththiboon

Yusuf Ali

But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it).

84:22

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ

Transliteration

Wallahu aAAlamu bimayooAAoon

Yusuf Ali

But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts)

84:23

فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Transliteration

Fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleem

Yusuf Ali

So announce to them a Penalty Grievous,

84:24

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ

Transliteration

Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati lahum ajrun ghayrumamnoon

Yusuf Ali

Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail.

84:25

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ

Transliteration

Wassama-i thatialburooj

Yusuf Ali

By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs;

85:1

وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ

Transliteration

Walyawmi almawAAood

Yusuf Ali

By the promised Day (of Judgment);

85:2

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ

Transliteration

Washahidin wamashhood

Yusuf Ali

By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness;-

85:3

قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ

Transliteration

Qutila as-habu alukhdood

Yusuf Ali

Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire),

85:4

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ

Transliteration

Annari thati alwaqood

Yusuf Ali

Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel:

85:5

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ

Transliteration

Ith hum AAalayha quAAood

Yusuf Ali

Behold! they sat over against the (fire),

85:6

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ

Transliteration

Wahum AAala ma yafAAaloona bilmu/mineenashuhood

Yusuf Ali

And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers.

85:7

وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ

Transliteration

Wama naqamoo minhum illa anyu/minoo billahi alAAazeezi alhameed

Yusuf Ali

And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!-

85:8

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

Transliteration

Allathee lahu mulku assamawatiwal-ardi wallahu AAala kullishay-in shaheed

Yusuf Ali

Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things.

85:9

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ

Transliteration

Inna allatheena fatanoo almu/mineenawalmu/minati thumma lam yatooboo falahum AAathabujahannama walahum AAathabu alhareeq

Yusuf Ali

Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire.

85:10

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ

Transliteration

Inna allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati lahum jannatuntajree min tahtiha al-anharu thalikaalfawzu alkabeer

Yusuf Ali

For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires),

85:11

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

Transliteration

Inna batsha rabbika lashadeed

Yusuf Ali

Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord.

85:12

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

Transliteration

Innahu huwa yubdi-o wayuAAeed

Yusuf Ali

It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life).

85:13

وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ

Transliteration

Wahuwa alghafooru alwadood

Yusuf Ali

And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness,

85:14

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ

Transliteration

Thoo alAAarshi almajeed

Yusuf Ali

Lord of the Throne of Glory,

85:15

فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ

Transliteration

FaAAAAalun lima yureed

Yusuf Ali

Doer (without let) of all that He intends.

85:16

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ

Transliteration

Hal ataka hadeethu aljunood

Yusuf Ali

Has the story reached thee, of the forces-

85:17

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ

Transliteration

FirAAawna wathamood

Yusuf Ali

Of Pharaoh and the Thamud?

85:18

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ

Transliteration

Bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheeb

Yusuf Ali

And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)!

85:19

وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ

Transliteration

Wallahu min wara-ihimmuheet

Yusuf Ali

But Allah doth encompass them from behind!

85:20

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ

Transliteration

Bal huwa qur-anun majeed

Yusuf Ali

Day, this is a Glorious Qur'an,

85:21

فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ

Transliteration

Fee lawhin mahfooth

Yusuf Ali

(Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!

85:22

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ

Transliteration

Wassama-i wattariq

Yusuf Ali

By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);-

86:1

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma attariq

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?-

86:2

النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ

Transliteration

Annajmu aththaqib

Yusuf Ali

(It is) the Star of piercing brightness;-

86:3

إِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ

Transliteration

In kullu nafsin lamma AAalayha hafith

Yusuf Ali

There is no soul but has a protector over it.

86:4

فَلْيَنْظُرِ الْإِنْسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ

Transliteration

Falyanthuri al-insanumimma khuliq

Yusuf Ali

Now let man but think from what he is created!

86:5

خُلِقَ مِنْ مَاءٍ دَافِقٍ

Transliteration

Khuliqa min ma-in dafiq

Yusuf Ali

He is created from a drop emitted-

86:6

يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ

Transliteration

Yakhruju min bayni assulbi wattara-ib

Yusuf Ali

Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:

86:7

إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ

Transliteration

Innahu AAala rajAAihi laqadir

Yusuf Ali

Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)!

86:8

يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ

Transliteration

Yawma tubla assara-ir

Yusuf Ali

The Day that (all) things secret will be tested,

86:9

فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ

Transliteration

Fama lahu min quwwatin wala nasir

Yusuf Ali

(Man) will have no power, and no helper.

86:10

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ

Transliteration

Wassama-i thati arrajAA

Yusuf Ali

By the Firmament which returns (in its round),

86:11

وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ

Transliteration

Wal-ardi thati assadAA

Yusuf Ali

And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),-

86:12

إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ

Transliteration

Innahu laqawlun fasl

Yusuf Ali

Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil):

86:13

وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ

Transliteration

Wama huwa bilhazl

Yusuf Ali

It is not a thing for amusement.

86:14

إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا

Transliteration

Innahum yakeedoona kayda

Yusuf Ali

As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,

86:15

وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا

Transliteration

Waakeedu kayda

Yusuf Ali

And I am planning a scheme.

86:16

فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا

Transliteration

Famahhili alkafireena amhilhum ruwayda

Yusuf Ali

Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile).

86:17

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى

Transliteration

Sabbihi isma rabbika al-aAAla

Yusuf Ali

Glorify the name of thy Guardian-Lord Most High,

87:1

الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

Transliteration

Allathee khalaqa fasawwa

Yusuf Ali

Who hath created, and further, given order and proportion;

87:2

وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ

Transliteration

Wallathee qaddara fahada

Yusuf Ali

Who hath ordained laws. And granted guidance;

87:3

وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَىٰ

Transliteration

Wallathee akhraja almarAAa

Yusuf Ali

And Who bringeth out the (green and luscious) pasture,

87:4

فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَىٰ

Transliteration

FajaAAalahu ghuthaan ahwa

Yusuf Ali

And then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble.

87:5

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَىٰ

Transliteration

Sanuqri-oka fala tansa

Yusuf Ali

By degrees shall We teach thee to declare (the Message), so thou shalt not forget,

87:6

إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ

Transliteration

Illa ma shaa Allahuinnahu yaAAlamu aljahra wama yakhfa

Yusuf Ali

Except as Allah wills: For He knoweth what is manifest and what is hidden.

87:7

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Wanuyassiruka lilyusra

Yusuf Ali

And We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path).

87:8

فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Fathakkir in nafaAAati aththikra

Yusuf Ali

Therefore give admonition in case the admonition profits (the hearer).

87:9

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشَىٰ

Transliteration

Sayaththakkaru man yakhsha

Yusuf Ali

The admonition will be received by those who fear (Allah):

87:10

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى

Transliteration

Wayatajannabuha al-ashqa

Yusuf Ali

But it will be avoided by those most unfortunate ones,

87:11

الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Allathee yasla annaraalkubra

Yusuf Ali

Who will enter the Great Fire,

87:12

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ

Transliteration

Thumma la yamootu feeha walayahya

Yusuf Ali

In which they will then neither die nor live.

87:13

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ

Transliteration

Qad aflaha man tazakka

Yusuf Ali

But those will prosper who purify themselves,

87:14

وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

Wathakara isma rabbihi fasalla

Yusuf Ali

And glorify the name of their Guardian-Lord, and (lift their hearts) in prayer.

87:15

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا

Transliteration

Bal tu/thiroona alhayata addunya

Yusuf Ali

Day (behold), ye prefer the life of this world;

87:16

وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ

Transliteration

Wal-akhiratu khayrun waabqa

Yusuf Ali

But the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

87:17

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Inna hatha lafee assuhufial-oola

Yusuf Ali

And this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation),-

87:18

صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

Transliteration

Suhufi ibraheema wamoosa

Yusuf Ali

The Books of Abraham and Moses.

87:19

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ

Transliteration

Hal ataka hadeethu alghashiyat

Yusuf Ali

Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?

88:1

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ

Transliteration

Wujoohun yawma-ithin khashiAAa

Yusuf Ali

Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,

88:2

عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ

Transliteration

AAamilatun nasiba

Yusuf Ali

Labouring (hard), weary,-

88:3

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةً

Transliteration

Tasla naran hamiya

Yusuf Ali

The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-

88:4

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ

Transliteration

Tusqa min AAaynin aniya

Yusuf Ali

The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,

88:5

لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ

Transliteration

Laysa lahum taAAamun illamin dareeAA

Yusuf Ali

No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'

88:6

لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ

Transliteration

La yusminu wala yughnee minjooAA

Yusuf Ali

Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.

88:7

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ

Transliteration

Wujoohun yawma-ithin naAAima

Yusuf Ali

(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,

88:8

لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ

Transliteration

LisaAAyiha radiya

Yusuf Ali

Pleased with their striving,-

88:9

فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ

Transliteration

Fee jannatin AAaliya

Yusuf Ali

In a Garden on high,

88:10

لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً

Transliteration

La tasmaAAu feeha laghiya

Yusuf Ali

Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:

88:11

فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ

Transliteration

Feeha AAaynun jariya

Yusuf Ali

Therein will be a bubbling spring:

88:12

فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ

Transliteration

Feeha sururun marfooAAa

Yusuf Ali

Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,

88:13

وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ

Transliteration

Waakwabun mawdooAAa

Yusuf Ali

Goblets placed (ready),

88:14

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ

Transliteration

Wanamariqu masfoofa

Yusuf Ali

And cushions set in rows,

88:15

وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

Transliteration

Wazarabiyyu mabthootha

Yusuf Ali

And rich carpets (all) spread out.

88:16

أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

Transliteration

Afala yanthuroona ilaal-ibili kayfa khuliqat

Yusuf Ali

Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-

88:17

وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-ila assama-i kayfarufiAAat

Yusuf Ali

And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-

88:18

وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-ila aljibali kayfa nusibat

Yusuf Ali

And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-

88:19

وَإِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

Transliteration

Wa-ila al-ardi kayfa sutihat

Yusuf Ali

And at the Earth, how it is spread out?

88:20

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ

Transliteration

Fathakkir innama anta muthakkir

Yusuf Ali

Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.

88:21

لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

Transliteration

Lasta AAalayhim bimusaytir

Yusuf Ali

Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.

88:22

إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ

Transliteration

Illa man tawalla wakafar

Yusuf Ali

But if any turn away and reject Allah,-

88:23

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الْأَكْبَرَ

Transliteration

FayuAAaththibuhu Allahu alAAathabaal-akbar

Yusuf Ali

Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,

88:24

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ

Transliteration

Inna ilayna iyabahum

Yusuf Ali

For to Us will be their return;

88:25

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ

Transliteration

Thumma inna AAalayna hisabahum

Yusuf Ali

Then it will be for Us to call them to account.

88:26

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالْفَجْرِ

Transliteration

Walfajr

Yusuf Ali

By the break of Day

89:1

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

Transliteration

Walayalin AAashr

Yusuf Ali

By the Nights twice five;

89:2

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ

Transliteration

WashshafAAi walwatr

Yusuf Ali

By the even and odd (contrasted);

89:3

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ

Transliteration

Wallayli itha yasr

Yusuf Ali

And by the Night when it passeth away;-

89:4

هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ

Transliteration

Hal fee thalika qasamun lithee hijr

Yusuf Ali

Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?

89:5

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

Transliteration

Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka biAAad

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-

89:6

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ

Transliteration

Irama thati alAAimad

Yusuf Ali

Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,

89:7

الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ

Transliteration

Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluha fee albilad

Yusuf Ali

The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?

89:8

وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ

Transliteration

Wathamooda allatheena jaboo assakhrabilwad

Yusuf Ali

And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-

89:9

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ

Transliteration

WafirAAawna thee al-awtad

Yusuf Ali

And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?

89:10

الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ

Transliteration

Allatheena taghaw fee albilad

Yusuf Ali

(All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,

89:11

فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ

Transliteration

Faaktharoo feeha alfasad

Yusuf Ali

And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).

89:12

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ

Transliteration

Fasabba AAalayhim rabbuka sawtaAAathab

Yusuf Ali

Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:

89:13

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ

Transliteration

Inna rabbaka labilmirsad

Yusuf Ali

For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower.

89:14

فَأَمَّا الْإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ

Transliteration

Faamma al-insanu itha maibtalahu rabbuhu faakramahu wanaAAAAamahu fayaqoolu rabbeeakraman

Yusuf Ali

Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me."

89:15

وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ

Transliteration

Waamma itha ma ibtalahufaqadara AAalayhi rizqahu fayaqoolu rabbee ahanan

Yusuf Ali

But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!"

89:16

كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ لَا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ

Transliteration

Kalla bal la tukrimoonaalyateem

Yusuf Ali

Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!

89:17

وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ

Transliteration

Wala tahaddoona AAala taAAamialmiskeen

Yusuf Ali

Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-

89:18

وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَمًّا

Transliteration

Wata/kuloona atturatha aklanlamma

Yusuf Ali

And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,

89:19

وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا

Transliteration

Watuhibboona almala hubbanjamma

Yusuf Ali

And ye love wealth with inordinate love!

89:20

كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا

Transliteration

Kalla itha dukkati al-ardudakkan dakka

Yusuf Ali

Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,

89:21

وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

Transliteration

Wajaa rabbuka walmalaku saffansaffa

Yusuf Ali

And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank,

89:22

وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنْسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Wajee-a yawma-ithin bijahannamayawma-ithin yatathakkaru al-insanu waannalahu aththikra

Yusuf Ali

And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?

89:23

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي

Transliteration

Yaqoolu ya laytanee qaddamtu lihayatee

Yusuf Ali

He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!"

89:24

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Fayawma-ithin la yuAAaththibuAAathabahu ahad

Yusuf Ali

For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,

89:25

وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Wala yoothiqu wathaqahu ahad

Yusuf Ali

And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind.

89:26

يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ

Transliteration

Ya ayyatuha annafsualmutma-inna

Yusuf Ali

(To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction!

89:27

ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً

Transliteration

IrjiAAee ila rabbiki radiyatanmardiyya

Yusuf Ali

"Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him!

89:28

فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي

Transliteration

Fadkhulee fee AAibadee

Yusuf Ali

"Enter thou, then, among My devotees!

89:29

وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي

Transliteration

Wadkhulee jannatee

Yusuf Ali

"Yea, enter thou My Heaven!

89:30

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ

Transliteration

La oqsimu bihatha albalad

Yusuf Ali

I do call to witness this City;-

90:1

وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ

Transliteration

Waanta hillun bihatha albalad

Yusuf Ali

And thou art a freeman of this City;-

90:2

وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ

Transliteration

Wawalidin wama walad

Yusuf Ali

And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;-

90:3

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ

Transliteration

Laqad khalaqna al-insana feekabad

Yusuf Ali

Verily We have created man into toil and struggle.

90:4

أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Ayahsabu an lan yaqdira AAalayhi ahad

Yusuf Ali

Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?

90:5

يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا

Transliteration

Yaqoolu ahlaktu malan lubada

Yusuf Ali

He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!

90:6

أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Ayahsabu an lam yarahu ahad

Yusuf Ali

Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?

90:7

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ

Transliteration

Alam najAAal lahu AAaynayn

Yusuf Ali

Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-

90:8

وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ

Transliteration

Walisanan washafatayn

Yusuf Ali

And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-

90:9

وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ

Transliteration

Wahadaynahu annajdayn

Yusuf Ali

And shown him the two highways?

90:10

فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ

Transliteration

Fala iqtahama alAAaqaba

Yusuf Ali

But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.

90:11

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ

Transliteration

Wama adraka maalAAaqaba

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-

90:12

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ

Transliteration

Fakku raqaba

Yusuf Ali

(It is:) freeing the bondman;

90:13

أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ

Transliteration

Aw itAAamun fee yawmin theemasghaba

Yusuf Ali

Or the giving of food in a day of privation

90:14

يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ

Transliteration

Yateeman tha maqraba

Yusuf Ali

To the orphan with claims of relationship,

90:15

أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ

Transliteration

Aw miskeenan tha matraba

Yusuf Ali

Or to the indigent (down) in the dust.

90:16

ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ

Transliteration

Thumma kana mina allatheena amanoowatawasaw bissabri watawasaw bilmarhama

Yusuf Ali

Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion.

90:17

أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ

Transliteration

Ola-ika as-habualmaymana

Yusuf Ali

Such are the Companions of the Right Hand.

90:18

وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ

Transliteration

Wallatheena kafaroo bi-ayatinahum as-habu almash-ama

Yusuf Ali

But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand.

90:19

عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُؤْصَدَةٌ

Transliteration

AAalayhim narun mu/sada

Yusuf Ali

On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round).

90:20

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا

Transliteration

Washshamsi waduhaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour;

91:1

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا

Transliteration

Walqamari itha talaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Moon as she follows him;

91:2

وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا

Transliteration

Wannahari itha jallaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory;

91:3

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا

Transliteration

Wallayli itha yaghshaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Night as it conceals it;

91:4

وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا

Transliteration

Wassama-i wama banaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure;

91:5

وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا

Transliteration

Wal-ardi wama tahaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Earth and its (wide) expanse:

91:6

وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا

Transliteration

Wanafsin wama sawwaha

Yusuf Ali

By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it;

91:7

فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا

Transliteration

Faalhamaha fujooraha wataqwaha

Yusuf Ali

And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-

91:8

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا

Transliteration

Qad aflaha man zakkaha

Yusuf Ali

Truly he succeeds that purifies it,

91:9

وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا

Transliteration

Waqad khaba man dassaha

Yusuf Ali

And he fails that corrupts it!

91:10

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا

Transliteration

Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha

Yusuf Ali

The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing,

91:11

إِذِ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا

Transliteration

Ithi inbaAAatha ashqaha

Yusuf Ali

Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety).

91:12

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا

Transliteration

Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqataAllahi wasuqyaha

Yusuf Ali

But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!"

91:13

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا

Transliteration

Fakaththaboohu faAAaqaroohafadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha

Yusuf Ali

Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!

91:14

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا

Transliteration

Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha

Yusuf Ali

And for Him is no fear of its consequences.

91:15

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

Transliteration

Wallayli itha yaghsha

Yusuf Ali

By the Night as it conceals (the light);

92:1

وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

Wannahari itha tajalla

Yusuf Ali

By the Day as it appears in glory;

92:2

وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ

Transliteration

Wama khalaqa aththakarawal-ontha

Yusuf Ali

By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;-

92:3

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

Transliteration

Inna saAAyakum lashatta

Yusuf Ali

Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse.

92:4

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ

Transliteration

Faamma man aAAta wattaqa

Yusuf Ali

So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah),

92:5

وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Wasaddaqa bilhusna

Yusuf Ali

And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,-

92:6

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusra

Yusuf Ali

We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.

92:7

وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Waamma man bakhila wastaghna

Yusuf Ali

But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient,

92:8

وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Wakaththaba bilhusna

Yusuf Ali

And gives the lie to the best,-

92:9

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

Transliteration

Fasanuyassiruhu lilAAusra

Yusuf Ali

We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery;

92:10

وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ

Transliteration

Wama yughnee AAanhu maluhu ithataradda

Yusuf Ali

Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit).

92:11

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

Transliteration

Inna AAalayna lalhuda

Yusuf Ali

Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide,

92:12

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Wa-inna lana lal-akhirata wal-oola

Yusuf Ali

And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning.

92:13

فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ

Transliteration

Faanthartukum naran talaththa

Yusuf Ali

Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely;

92:14

لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى

Transliteration

La yaslaha illaal-ashqa

Yusuf Ali

None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones

92:15

الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

Allathee kaththaba watawalla

Yusuf Ali

Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs.

92:16

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى

Transliteration

Wasayujannabuha al-atqa

Yusuf Ali

But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,-

92:17

الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

Transliteration

Allathee yu/tee malahuyatazakka

Yusuf Ali

Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification,

92:18

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ

Transliteration

Wama li-ahadin AAindahu minniAAmatin tujza

Yusuf Ali

And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,

92:19

إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ

Transliteration

Illa ibtighaa wajhi rabbihial-aAAla

Yusuf Ali

But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High;

92:20

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

Transliteration

Walasawfa yarda

Yusuf Ali

And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction.

92:21

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالضُّحَىٰ

Transliteration

Wadduha

Yusuf Ali

By the Glorious Morning Light,

93:1

وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ

Transliteration

Wallayli itha saja

Yusuf Ali

And by the Night when it is still,-

93:2

مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ

Transliteration

Ma waddaAAaka rabbuka wama qala

Yusuf Ali

Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased.

93:3

وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ

Transliteration

Walal-akhiratu khayrun laka minaal-oola

Yusuf Ali

And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present.

93:4

وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَىٰ

Transliteration

Walasawfa yuAAteeka rabbuka fatarda

Yusuf Ali

And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.

93:5

أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ

Transliteration

Alam yajidka yateeman faawa

Yusuf Ali

Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)?

93:6

وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ

Transliteration

Wawajadaka dallan fahada

Yusuf Ali

And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance.

93:7

وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ

Transliteration

Wawajadaka AAa-ilan faaghna

Yusuf Ali

And He found thee in need, and made thee independent.

93:8

فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ

Transliteration

Faamma alyateema fala taqhar

Yusuf Ali

Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness,

93:9

وَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ

Transliteration

Waamma assa-ila falatanhar

Yusuf Ali

Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard);

93:10

وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ

Transliteration

Waamma biniAAmati rabbika fahaddith

Yusuf Ali

But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim!

93:11

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ

Transliteration

Alam nashrah laka sadrak

Yusuf Ali

Have We not expanded thee thy breast?-

94:1

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنْكَ وِزْرَكَ

Transliteration

WawadaAAna AAanka wizrak

Yusuf Ali

And removed from thee thy burden

94:2

الَّذِي أَنْقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ

Transliteration

Yusuf Ali

The which did gall thy back?-

94:3

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ

Transliteration

WarafaAAna laka thikrak

Yusuf Ali

And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?

94:4

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

Transliteration

Fa-inna maAAa alAAusri yusra

Yusuf Ali

So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:

94:5

إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

Transliteration

Inna maAAa alAAusri yusra

Yusuf Ali

Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

94:6

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانْصَبْ

Transliteration

Fa-itha faraghta fansab

Yusuf Ali

Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,

94:7

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ

Transliteration

Wa-ila rabbika farghab

Yusuf Ali

And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention.

94:8

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ

Transliteration

Watteeni wazzaytoon

Yusuf Ali

By the Fig and the Olive,

95:1

وَطُورِ سِينِينَ

Transliteration

Watoori seeneen

Yusuf Ali

And the Mount of Sinai,

95:2

وَهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ

Transliteration

Wahatha albaladi al-ameen

Yusuf Ali

And this City of security,-

95:3

لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ

Transliteration

Laqad khalaqna al-insana fee ahsanitaqweem

Yusuf Ali

We have indeed created man in the best of moulds,

95:4

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ

Transliteration

Thumma radadnahu asfala safileen

Yusuf Ali

Then do We abase him (to be) the lowest of the low,-

95:5

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ

Transliteration

Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati falahum ajrun ghayrumamnoon

Yusuf Ali

Except such as believe and do righteous deeds: For they shall have a reward unfailing.

95:6

فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّينِ

Transliteration

Fama yukaththibuka baAAdu biddeen

Yusuf Ali

Then what can, after this, contradict thee, as to the judgment (to come)?

95:7

أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ

Transliteration

Alaysa Allahu bi-ahkami alhakimeen

Yusuf Ali

Is not Allah the wisest of judges?

95:8

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ

Transliteration

Iqra/ bi-ismi rabbika allathee khalaq

Yusuf Ali

Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created-

96:1

خَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ

Transliteration

Khalaqa al-insana min AAalaq

Yusuf Ali

Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:

96:2

اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ

Transliteration

Iqra/ warabbuka al-akram

Yusuf Ali

Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,-

96:3

الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ

Transliteration

Allathee AAallama bilqalam

Yusuf Ali

He Who taught (the use of) the pen,-

96:4

عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ

Transliteration

AAallama al-insana ma lamyaAAlam

Yusuf Ali

Taught man that which he knew not.

96:5

كَلَّا إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَىٰ

Transliteration

Kalla inna al-insana layatgha

Yusuf Ali

Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds,

96:6

أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَىٰ

Transliteration

An raahu istaghna

Yusuf Ali

In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient.

96:7

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَىٰ

Transliteration

Inna ila rabbika arrujAAa

Yusuf Ali

Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all).

96:8

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَىٰ

Transliteration

Araayta allathee yanha

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou one who forbids-

96:9

عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

AAabdan itha salla

Yusuf Ali

A votary when he (turns) to pray?

96:10

أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ

Transliteration

Araayta in kana AAala alhuda

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?-

96:11

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَىٰ

Transliteration

Aw amara bittaqwa

Yusuf Ali

Or enjoins Righteousness?

96:12

أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Transliteration

Araayta in kaththaba watawalla

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away?

96:13

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَىٰ

Transliteration

Alam yaAAlam bi-anna Allaha yara

Yusuf Ali

Knoweth he not that Allah doth see?

96:14

كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ

Transliteration

Kalla la-in lam yantahi lanasfaAAanbinnasiya

Yusuf Ali

Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,-

96:15

نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ

Transliteration

Nasiyatin kathibatin khati-a

Yusuf Ali

A lying, sinful forelock!

96:16

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ

Transliteration

FalyadAAu nadiyah

Yusuf Ali

Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades):

96:17

سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ

Transliteration

SanadAAu azzabaniya

Yusuf Ali

We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)!

96:18

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ ۩

Transliteration

Kalla la tutiAAhu wasjudwaqtarib

Yusuf Ali

Day, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)!

96:19

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

Transliteration

Inna anzalnahu fee laylatialqadr

Yusuf Ali

We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power:

97:1

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma laylatualqadr

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what the night of power is?

97:2

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

Transliteration

Laylatu alqadri khayrun min alfi shahr

Yusuf Ali

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.

97:3

تَنَزَّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ مِنْ كُلِّ أَمْرٍ

Transliteration

Tanazzalu almala-ikatu warroohufeeha bi-ithni rabbihim min kulli amr

Yusuf Ali

Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand:

97:4

سَلَامٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ

Transliteration

Salamun hiya hatta matlaAAialfajr

Yusuf Ali

Peace!...This until the rise of morn!

97:5

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنْفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ

Transliteration

Lam yakuni allatheena kafaroo min ahlialkitabi walmushrikeena munfakkeena hattata/tiyahumu albayyina

Yusuf Ali

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence,-

98:1

رَسُولٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ يَتْلُو صُحُفًا مُطَهَّرَةً

Transliteration

Rasoolun mina Allahi yatloo suhufanmutahhara

Yusuf Ali

An messenger from Allah, rehearsing scriptures kept pure and holy:

98:2

فِيهَا كُتُبٌ قَيِّمَةٌ

Transliteration

Feeha kutubun qayyima

Yusuf Ali

Wherein are laws (or decrees) right and straight.

98:3

وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ إِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ

Transliteration

Wama tafarraqa allatheena ootooalkitaba illa min baAAdi ma jaat-humualbayyina

Yusuf Ali

Nor did the People of the Book make schisms, until after there came to them Clear Evidence.

98:4

وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ

Transliteration

Wama omiroo illa liyaAAbudooAllaha mukhliseena lahu addeena hunafaawayuqeemoo assalata wayu/too azzakatawathalika deenu alqayyima

Yusuf Ali

And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight.

98:5

Transliteration

Inna allatheena kafaroo min ahli alkitabiwalmushrikeena fee nari jahannama khalideenafeeha ola-ika hum sharru albariyya

Yusuf Ali

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures.

98:6

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ الْبَرِيَّةِ

Transliteration

Inna allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati ola-ika humkhayru albariyya

Yusuf Ali

Those who have faith and do righteous deeds,- they are the best of creatures.

98:7

جَزَاؤُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ۖ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ

Transliteration

Jazaohum AAinda rabbihim jannatuAAadnin tajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideenafeeha abadan radiya Allahu AAanhum waradooAAanhu thalika liman khashiya rabbah

Yusuf Ali

Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow; they will dwell therein for ever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher.

98:8

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا

Transliteration

Itha zulzilati al-ardu zilzalaha

Yusuf Ali

When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion,

99:1

وَأَخْرَجَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا

Transliteration

Waakhrajati al-ardu athqalaha

Yusuf Ali

And the earth throws up her burdens (from within),

99:2

وَقَالَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا لَهَا

Transliteration

Waqala al-insanu ma laha

Yusuf Ali

And man cries (distressed): 'What is the matter with her?'-

99:3

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا

Transliteration

Yawma-ithin tuhaddithu akhbaraha

Yusuf Ali

On that Day will she declare her tidings:

99:4

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا

Transliteration

Bi-anna rabbaka awha laha

Yusuf Ali

For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration.

99:5

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ

Transliteration

Yawma-ithin yasduru annasuashtatan liyuraw aAAmalahum

Yusuf Ali

On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).

99:6

فَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ

Transliteration

Faman yaAAmal mithqala tharratinkhayran yarah

Yusuf Ali

Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!

99:7

وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ

Transliteration

Waman yaAAmal mithqala tharratinsharran yarah

Yusuf Ali

And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it.

99:8

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالْعَادِيَاتِ ضَبْحًا

Transliteration

WalAAadiyati dabha

Yusuf Ali

By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),

100:1

فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحًا

Transliteration

Falmooriyati qadha

Yusuf Ali

And strike sparks of fire,

100:2

فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحًا

Transliteration

Falmugheerati subha

Yusuf Ali

And push home the charge in the morning,

100:3

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعًا

Transliteration

Faatharna bihi naqAAa

Yusuf Ali

And raise the dust in clouds the while,

100:4

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعًا

Transliteration

Fawasatna bihi jamAAa

Yusuf Ali

And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-

100:5

إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ

Transliteration

Inna al-insana lirabbihi lakanood

Yusuf Ali

Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;

100:6

وَإِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu AAala thalikalashaheed

Yusuf Ali

And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds);

100:7

وَإِنَّهُ لِحُبِّ الْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

Transliteration

Wa-innahu lihubbi alkhayri lashadeed

Yusuf Ali

And violent is he in his love of wealth.

100:8

۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُورِ

Transliteration

Afala yaAAlamu itha buAAthira mafee alquboor

Yusuf Ali

Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad

100:9

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ

Transliteration

Wahussila ma fee assudoor

Yusuf Ali

And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-

100:10

إِنَّ رَبَّهُمْ بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَخَبِيرٌ

Transliteration

Inna rabbahum bihim yawma-ithinlakhabeer

Yusuf Ali

That their Lord had been Well-acquainted with them, (even to) that Day?

100:11

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

الْقَارِعَةُ

Transliteration

AlqariAAa

Yusuf Ali

The (Day) of Noise and Clamour:

101:1

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

Transliteration

Ma alqariAAa

Yusuf Ali

What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour?

101:2

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma alqariAAa

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is?

101:3

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ

Transliteration

Yawma yakoonu annasu kalfarashialmabthooth

Yusuf Ali

(It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about,

101:4

وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنْفُوشِ

Transliteration

Watakoonu aljibalu kalAAihnialmanfoosh

Yusuf Ali

And the mountains will be like carded wool.

101:5

فَأَمَّا مَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

Transliteration

Faamma man thaqulat mawazeenuh

Yusuf Ali

Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy,

101:6

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَاضِيَةٍ

Transliteration

Fahuwa fee AAeeshatin radiya

Yusuf Ali

Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction.

101:7

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ

Transliteration

Waamma man khaffat mawazeenuh

Yusuf Ali

But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,-

101:8

فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ

Transliteration

Faommuhu hawiya

Yusuf Ali

Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit.

101:9

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma hiya

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee what this is?

101:10

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ

Transliteration

Narun hamiya

Yusuf Ali

(It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely!

101:11

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ

Transliteration

Alhakumu attakathur

Yusuf Ali

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),

102:1

حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَ

Transliteration

Hatta zurtumu almaqabir

Yusuf Ali

Until ye visit the graves.

102:2

كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Kalla sawfa taAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).

102:3

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ

Transliteration

Thumma kalla sawfa taAAlamoon

Yusuf Ali

Again, ye soon shall know!

102:4

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِينِ

Transliteration

Kalla law taAAlamoona AAilma alyaqeen

Yusuf Ali

Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)

102:5

لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيمَ

Transliteration

Latarawunna aljaheem

Yusuf Ali

Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!

102:6

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِينِ

Transliteration

Thumma latarawunnaha AAayna alyaqeen

Yusuf Ali

Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!

102:7

ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ

Transliteration

Thumma latus-alunna yawma-ithin AAaniannaAAeem

Yusuf Ali

Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!).

102:8

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَالْعَصْرِ

Transliteration

WalAAasr

Yusuf Ali

By (the Token of) Time (through the ages),

103:1

إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ

Transliteration

Inna al-insana lafee khusr

Yusuf Ali

Verily Man is in loss,

103:2

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ

Transliteration

Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati watawasaw bilhaqqiwatawasaw bissabr

Yusuf Ali

Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.

103:3

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ

Transliteration

Waylun likulli humazatin lumaza

Yusuf Ali

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,

104:1

الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ

Transliteration

Allathee jamaAAa malanwaAAaddadah

Yusuf Ali

Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,

104:2

يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ

Transliteration

Yahsabu anna malahu akhladah

Yusuf Ali

Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!

104:3

كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ

Transliteration

Kalla layunbathanna fee alhutama

Yusuf Ali

By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces,

104:4

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ

Transliteration

Wama adraka ma alhutama

Yusuf Ali

And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces?

104:5

نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ

Transliteration

Naru Allahi almooqada

Yusuf Ali

(It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze),

104:6

الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ

Transliteration

Yusuf Ali

The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts:

104:7

إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُؤْصَدَةٌ

Transliteration

lnnaha AAalayhim mu/sada

Yusuf Ali

It shall be made into a vault over them,

104:8

فِي عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ

Transliteration

Fee AAamadin mumaddada

Yusuf Ali

In columns outstretched.

104:9

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ

Transliteration

Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka bi-as-habialfeel

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?

105:1

أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ

Transliteration

Alam yajAAal kaydahum fee tadleel

Yusuf Ali

Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?

105:2

وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ

Transliteration

Waarsala AAalayhim tayran ababeel

Yusuf Ali

And He sent against them Flights of Birds,

105:3

تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ

Transliteration

Tarmeehim bihijaratin minsijjeel

Yusuf Ali

Striking them with stones of baked clay.

105:4

فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَأْكُولٍ

Transliteration

FajaAAalahum kaAAasfin ma/kool

Yusuf Ali

Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up.

105:5

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

لِإِيلَافِ قُرَيْشٍ

Transliteration

Li-eelafi quraysh

Yusuf Ali

For the covenants (of security and safeguard enjoyed) by the Quraish,

106:1

إِيلَافِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ

Transliteration

Eelafihim rihlata ashshita-iwassayf

Yusuf Ali

Their covenants (covering) journeys by winter and summer,-

106:2

فَلْيَعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَٰذَا الْبَيْتِ

Transliteration

FalyaAAbudoo rabba hatha albayt

Yusuf Ali

Let them adore the Lord of this House,

106:3

الَّذِي أَطْعَمَهُمْ مِنْ جُوعٍ وَآمَنَهُمْ مِنْ خَوْفٍ

Transliteration

Allathee atAAamahum min jooAAinwaamanahum min khawf

Yusuf Ali

Who provides them with food against hunger, and with security against fear (of danger).

106:4

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ

Transliteration

Araayta allathee yukaththibu biddeen

Yusuf Ali

Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come)?

107:1

فَذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ

Transliteration

Fathalika allathee yaduAAAAualyateem

Yusuf Ali

Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness),

107:2

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ

Transliteration

Wala yahuddu AAalataAAami almiskeen

Yusuf Ali

And encourages not the feeding of the indigent.

107:3

فَوَيْلٌ لِلْمُصَلِّينَ

Transliteration

Fawaylun lilmusalleen

Yusuf Ali

So woe to the worshippers

107:4

الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ

Transliteration

Allatheena hum AAan salatihimsahoon

Yusuf Ali

Who are neglectful of their prayers,

107:5

الَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَاءُونَ

Transliteration

Allatheena hum yuraoon

Yusuf Ali

Those who (want but) to be seen (of men),

107:6

وَيَمْنَعُونَ الْمَاعُونَ

Transliteration

WayamnaAAoona almaAAoon

Yusuf Ali

But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs.

107:7

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ

Transliteration

Inna aAAtaynakaalkawthar

Yusuf Ali

To thee have We granted the Fount (of Abundance).

108:1

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ

Transliteration

Fasalli lirabbika wanhar

Yusuf Ali

Therefore to thy Lord turn in Prayer and Sacrifice.

108:2

إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الْأَبْتَرُ

Transliteration

Inna shani-aka huwa al-abtar

Yusuf Ali

For he who hateth thee, he will be cut off (from Future Hope).

108:3

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ

Transliteration

Qul ya ayyuha alkafiroon

Yusuf Ali

Say : O ye that reject Faith!

109:1

لَا أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

Transliteration

La aAAbudu ma taAAbudoon

Yusuf Ali

I worship not that which ye worship,

109:2

وَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ

Transliteration

Wala antum AAabidoona maaAAbud

Yusuf Ali

Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

109:3

وَلَا أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَا عَبَدْتُمْ

Transliteration

Wala ana AAabidun maAAabadtum

Yusuf Ali

And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,

109:4

وَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ

Transliteration

Wala antum AAabidoona maaAAbud

Yusuf Ali

Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

109:5

لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ

Transliteration

Lakum deenukum waliya deen

Yusuf Ali

To you be your Way, and to me mine.

109:6

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ

Transliteration

Itha jaa nasru Allahiwalfath

Yusuf Ali

When comes the Help of Allah, and Victory,

110:1

وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا

Transliteration

Waraayta annasa yadkhuloonafee deeni Allahi afwaja

Yusuf Ali

And thou dost see the people enter Allah's Religion in crowds,

110:2

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا

Transliteration

Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wastaghfirhuinnahu kana tawwaba

Yusuf Ali

Celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and pray for His Forgiveness: For He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy).

110:3

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

Transliteration

Tabbat yada abee lahabin watab

Yusuf Ali

Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he!

111:1

مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ

Transliteration

Ma aghna AAanhu maluhuwama kasab

Yusuf Ali

No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains!

111:2

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ

Transliteration

Sayasla naran thatalahab

Yusuf Ali

Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame!

111:3

وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ

Transliteration

Wamraatuhu hammalata alhatab

Yusuf Ali

His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!-

111:4

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ

Transliteration

Fee jeediha hablun min masad

Yusuf Ali

A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck!

111:5

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Qul huwa Allahu ahad

Yusuf Ali

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;

112:1

اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ

Transliteration

Allahu assamad

Yusuf Ali

Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;

112:2

لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

Transliteration

Lam yalid walam yoolad

Yusuf Ali

He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

112:3

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

Transliteration

Walam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad

Yusuf Ali

And there is none like unto Him.

112:4

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ

Transliteration

Qul aAAoothu birabbi alfalaq

Yusuf Ali

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn

113:1

مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ

Transliteration

Min sharri ma khalaq

Yusuf Ali

From the mischief of created things;

113:2

وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ

Transliteration

Wamin sharri ghasiqin ithawaqab

Yusuf Ali

From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads;

113:3

وَمِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ

Transliteration

Wamin sharri annaffathatifee alAAuqad

Yusuf Ali

From the mischief of those who practise secret arts;

113:4

وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ

Transliteration

Wamin sharri hasidin itha hasad

Yusuf Ali

And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy.

113:5

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Yusuf Ali

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ

Transliteration

Qul aAAoothu birabbi annas

Yusuf Ali

Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind,

114:1

مَلِكِ النَّاسِ

Transliteration

Maliki annas

Yusuf Ali

The King (or Ruler) of Mankind,

114:2

إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ

Transliteration

Ilahi annas

Yusuf Ali

The god (or judge) of Mankind,-

114:3

مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ

Transliteration

Min sharri alwaswasi alkhannas

Yusuf Ali

From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper),-

114:4

الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ

Transliteration

Allathee yuwaswisu fee sudoori annas

Yusuf Ali

(The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind,-

114:5

مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ

Transliteration

Mina aljinnati wannas

Yusuf Ali

Among Jinns and among men.

114:6
